Hello and thanks for the sheet.

Chemlak, I am unsure if it is something I did or not but it seems that the City Summary is not calculating Population or Stability.

On the Overall page under Consumption the Cities value is 2 tho I have 11 city districts.

Thanks!

I'll take a look.

The re-jigging I had to do to squeeze fame and infamy in is quite likely to have messed a few things up. I thought I'd caught them all, but I'm not surprised if a few things slipped through the cracks.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Version 4.3d (Bugfix release) is now up!

As always, if you find any errors, let me know.

V4.3d
Normal Taxation is reading as Econ +2 and Loyal -1
I "think" it should be Econ +2 and Loyal -2 yes?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

It certainly should be. Not sure I'll have time to fix that today (I will if I can squeeze it in!).

Thanks for the help - I really don't have time to test everything, so as long as I'm not getting nonsense results, I post it up.

My next big job is implementing settlements in full, so that each city has the correct settlement statistics, and that's a bit of a hefty task, so don't expect anything except bug fixes for a little while.

No no no, thank YOU for what you are doing on your time. This is so much help to this DM.

As for the Taxation thing... I think I know what happened. I have a waterfront and it cuts the tax penalty in half. So there may not be an issue with that at all.

Again, thank you.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Just dug into it, and I believe you're correct - the waterfront has adjusted the loyalty penalty appropriately.

Can you confirm that 4.3d has otherwise set things to where you expect them?

Y'sir.

So far so good. I am not seeing anything out of what I am expecting.
Now I could be wrong of course but so far the board is green.

Eeeexcellent. /MrBurns

Right, time for me to be hoping one of my gaming groups doesn't choose to annoy me on my birthday.

Happy B-Day and a a DM that Nobody will or (heh) can run for, I know your pain.

Yeah - Happy Birthday Chemlak!
I'll be using your sheet too I think...
There's no way in hell I could have done this, so thanks!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Well, the good news was that my players didn't annoy me.

With a little luck I'll have my first real crack at settlements today (wish me luck, it'll be the single biggest alteration to the sheet I've made so far, and probably worthy of a version bump).

Just so that I can properly plan ahead, which optional rules are people most interested in seeing implemented? Please bear in mind that it's significantly harder to include options that require a choice (for example, the kingdom size bonus to Fame or Infamy), and there's no point including options that have a randomly variable effect - please focus on the options that have a permanent effect on the kingdom, which looks to me to be treaties, deities and holy sites, and forms of government. Trade edicts is looking a little more complex, but it's one I have a personal interest in seeing done right.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

For the record, sheet alterations for Settlement statistics has begun. Basic formulae are in place. Secondary formulae and prettification is in progress. At the current rate, expect another version sometime tonight.

The man works fast.

Version 4.4 - SETTLEMENTS!

I won't bore everyone with all of the details - download it and take a look. This is a new download link, the old one still links to version 4.3, which will remain available until I run out of hosting space... which really isn't likely any time soon.

Thanks for this!
I'll give it a look over on Monday.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Open for discussion:

Version 4.4 is applying the settlement size modifiers from the GMG to the settlement statistics (which is why all of the population 0 cities are currently showing -4 to all settlement statistics: it's treating them as Thorps). Am I correct to have done this? The kingdom rules from UCam are frustratingly quiet on the matter, as far as I can tell. I assumed they should be included because otherwise there's no way for the statistics to be as low as UCam makes them for a Thorp, Hamlet or Village, and as soon as you put any building in a lot you have a Small Town, which reverts them to +0 base.

I'm loathe to remove those modifiers because if/when I get around to implementing a version which incorporates Ultimate Rulership by Legendary Games, it will actually matter, since you'll be able to have the smaller settlement types.

I myself like the added detail.

V4.4

It seems it's not calculating the Loyalty from Taxation correctly again on the overall sheet. Last time I "think" this was due to it not halving if due to having a stockyard. Not sure but either way it's not adding up right for me.

Also I seem to be missing 7 points of fame from the overall sheet under cities.

Not sure what is causing this.

Loyalty from taxation should be an easy one for me to check, so I'll take a look there as soon as I can.

Fame, though... that one's a bit tougher. I can think of only one reason off the top of my head: the starting value for Fame is either 0 or 1 (player choice whether the 1 goes in Fame or Infamy). This is not implemented on the sheet. Likewise, the kingdom size modifier to Fame/Infamy is also a player choice and therefore not implemented on the sheet. These should be recorded as Other (Permanent) modifiers on the Overall sheet. That only accounts for a maximum of 6 points of Fame, though.

I gave "Staghelm" the +1 Fame, I missed the fact that the Size Mod was not an automatic thing. At 103 Hexes that should be a...... +4 I think?

So that takes me up to an 11. Sti;; short 3, I'll look more closely again, maybe there are things that v3.x added on it's own that I am not aware I need to put in manually.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I really do need to put some work into the user guide for it.

Also, don't forget that some events affect Fame or Infamy, so if any of those have happened, there would be another permanent change. And if that doesn't account for it, then there's either a problem with one of my formulae (quite possible), or you've made a mistake tracking Fame (I have no basis for the odds of this).

It looks good so far.
On the new sheet my fame was 2 points higher before adding in the 4 for Size and after adding it in I have a Fame of 20 as opposed to the Fame of 14 on the v3 sheet.

As confusing as that sounds I think it's all working fine now from the looksie I gave it.

Thanks.
For the rapid fixes.
The time and effort.

Version 4.4a is live! Bug fixes for the issues Inner Heru identified for me (silly formula copying not working right) have been done, same link as the last one.

Chemlak - silly question, sorry...
Which version of the rules is yours built for please? UC or UR...?
Thanks a billion + 1 for the work you've done. :)

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I'm currently 100% focused on getting UCam fully represented. 4.4 has the core rules, Fame and Infamy, and settlement stats. I am intending to eventually get UR done (unless someone beats me to it!), but not until I'm happy that I have the UCam rules properly represented (like a tracker for trade routes, diplomatic edicts, things like that).

Now, if some worthy soul decides to copy and paste all of my stuff into a UR version of the sheet, and nab all of my hard work, blood, sweat and tears... I'm completely fine with that.

Muy Bueno - gracias.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Believe me, it's my pleasure. I'd be lost without all of the work others have done before me, though, not to mention everyone who has identified errors. This is definitely a team effort! And since I use the sheet myself in my current game, I'm strongly motivated towards getting it right.

And now for the good news: I find myself with a fair bit of free time next week (yay for random time off work!), and I'd like to take the opportunity to expand the functionality of the sheet a bit more. With any luck I'll be cracking on with the optional rules from UCam, so now is the time to tell me what you want.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I also love a nice quiet day in the office: I've already started working on a rough draft of Diplomatic Edicts, which will become a new sheet in the workbook, probably with a section for each kingdom you have an Embassy, Treaty or Alliance with.

Wow, wow, wow.

Much positive karma going your way, oh great makers of this fine spread sheet.

Chemlak - Again, thanks.

I hope to start using your sheet after I come back from my wedding in Japan,
towards the end of Nov/early dec...

I've been using one of the old sheets written for John Brazer's stab at the
first set of rules, & want, nay need to update... You Sir, shall be my saviour...

I was only asking about UR, as I have the rules, one of my PCs is a druid,
& I'll need to insert the sacred grove at some stage in the future.

However - THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU. :)
Your humble servant.

Just to warn people in advance:

Today I got a truly fascinating PM from someone on these boards regarding this sheet. Not to put too fine a point on it, I was completely blown away by what they've done, and I will (hopefully) soon (give me a week or so, please!) be hosting version 5. It really is an amazing piece of work, but I need to mention two things about it:

Firstly, it's HUGE. The copy I've currently got on my computer comes in at a whopping 11 Mb (compared to 1.55 for V4.4). There are a number of changes I need to make before I make it available, and if I can find any way to bring that size down, I will, but I think you'll all find the results worth the extra.

Secondly (and directly related to the size issue), it contains some copyrighted data which is available under the Community Use Policy (and I've already checked with Paizo that the intended use falls squarely into that policy), which means I'm going to have to register the spreadsheet in the Community Use Registry. I've already incorporated all of the blurb that Paizo require, and added a note of my own regarding future versions created by others based on Version 5. I will continue to host version 4 (which I will be updating first to have all of the non-Community Use Policy stuff in it), and as usual anybody can distribute that version, make changes to it, and share it without any difficulty. But for version 5, it will be my name on the Community Use Register, and anyone who wishes to create, modify, and share an updated version of that sheet must register it as their own, separately and distinctly to my registered version.

I know it's an extra bit of pain for future users, if/when I stop being able to update the sheet, but when you see it, I'm sure you'll agree that it's worth it.

TL; DR There's a really cool update coming soon under Version 5. Paizo are letting us play with their toys, but there's a couple of rules we need to follow if anyone but me wants to share an updated version.

Awating for it!

Looking forward to it.

You know I said a week?

How about 24 hours?

Due to some technical difficulties with my personal webspace (I can't get the file to upload correctly), I'm currently hosting through DropBox.

Version 5

Enjoy.

Liberty's Edge

Yippee!

Much thanks to all involved. Looking it over now.

Holy..SMOKES!!
Wow, just wow.

How do I get to City Map 3, 4, ect or are there anymore hidden? They did not pop up when I tried unhide. This is looking great.

City Sheets for anything past City 5 are your old sheets. No tool tip and smaller font.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Glad you like it.

I only threw a couple of map sheets in, because they seriously crank the size of the file up (and I was getting cramp from all the clicking I was doing). Fortunately, they're utterly trivial to create more of:

Right-click on the tab named "City 1 Map" and select "Move or Copy". In the dialog box that pops up, tick the box that says "Make a copy", and select the sheet you want put it in front of (for example, select City 4 to put a copy between City 3 and City 4). Click "OK". This will create a sheet called "City 1 Map (2)". Double-click on that tab name, and edit as desired (for example, change it to "City 3 Map").

Et voila!

If you're happy doing the same as a quick-fix for City 6+, please do, but I'll be getting them fixed later today (they have top priority), before I start playing around with other optional rules.

You are a Sir, sir!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Update! (same link as last time)

Cities 7-25 now follow the same style and annotation proliferation as 1-6.
Added Instructions on adding new City Map sheets.

Note that in the process of doing this I seriously screwed up City 7, and it's possible that there's something somewhere I didn't notice on my repair pass.

Next on the To-do list is refining Diplomacy (there's an absolute tonne more I can include), and Trade Edicts.

This is awesome. Been in a Kingmaker game for awhile now, and this is going to make our lives much easier. THANK YOU! Keep up the good work!

Quick question: I notice that there are only a few 'events' listed in the event drop down on the overall tab. I understand some of the events are impossible to 'automate' on the sheet, but items like 'Good Weather' should be able to auto populate right?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Fair question.

The short answer is that the events dropdowns are there for continuous events, rather than the ones that just happen, affect something, and that's the end of it. (You'll notice that the only ones in the list are the ones that can continue from turn to turn.)

I shall put some thought into how to record events better, because I know that I keep hitting up against "did we have an event last turn?", so it's something I'd like to fix.
