I nominate you as temporary leader, then. I can't put time to planning another thing right now. I am already in over my head trying to take a settlement, which first requires putting together an action plan for what to do with the settlement once I have it. Speaking of which, I am going to go jot down the preliminary ideas about that now!

Well then, I certainly accept the nomination. What say we leave this open for a day to see if any other party is interested, then we move forward. If selected, my first order of business would be seeing which of you fine folks are interested in sitting on that team to plan and structure things...
And on the settlement front, drop me a PM should things come to fruition and there's something us Keepers might do for you...

I'm deeply flattered, guys, but my heroes have always been sidekicks. Second-in-command, organizer, cheerleader and sounding board are really my roles. I suggested the meeting as I don't want the program to fall by the wayside, but Erian would make a much better leader for it. (And yes, Erian, you can count on my help.)
I'm generally flexible on.weeknight (EST) meeting times, although Wednesday is a nonstarter for me this week. I did go through the thread over the weekend and put together some notes on what Hobs has already accomplished, and when I have a chance I'll post that summary here.

Very good then, I'm certainly still willing to step into the role until such time as another desires to take up the role. As noted previously, my first order of business is determining who is interested in more specific involvement for organization/planning vs. those that simply want to volunteer as Guides. It's fine with me if the entire group wants to also be in the planning action as we aren't so large a group as to be unwieldy at present. So, we can coordinate a meeting to occur after the summary posting from Deianira. That will give folks sufficient time to raise their hands as volunteers and also indicate a desire to be in the planning or not.
My goals after getting the team together:
Minimal Structure--we should only formalize areas that are specifically necessary. I'm not looking for some over-burdened bureaucratic mess. We need to know basic roles, where folks will function, etc. but I don't see any need for any major leadership hierarchy or such since we're all basically just equal as Guides looking to help folks.
Formal Settlement/Company Agreements--our benefit as Guides in-game will be directly related to how much other groups recognize our work. We need confirmation from them on how a Guide and escorted new players will be treated. On the flip side, all Guides must commit to not abusing any agreement related to this role, e.g. claiming safe passage through some territory, then using that to sneak through a trade deal for your settlement.
Neutral Stance on Settlement/Company Membership--I think our best goal in settlement and company membership is to first understand the player's intentions, then try our best to match that to the appropriate group. The Guides shouldn't favor their own settlement or company, and if a conflict of interest is perceived should pass a player on to another Guide. As an example, my role with the Keepers means I am coordinating trade with many settlements. I fully expect the bandit companies to target my caravans. From a Guide perspective, I will not let that deter me from pointing a player that wants to be a bandit toward the appropriate group.
These are just the things that occur to me on a Monday morning after a cup of coffee, so all are subject to change as we discuss as a whole. I'd certainly like to hear other folks' goals, and would especially like to hear from anyone that has been part of a similar group in other games as to what works and what doesn't.

Yes, actually one of the things I'd also like to do is get some fresh communication going. We need (1) a post here given that a lot of communication still occurs via Paizo, (2) a GW post to support their requested move to the GW forums, and possibly (3) some 3rd party space if we find a need to have a better place to have multiple topics, etc.
I'd propose we hold off just yet on creating these, though, so that the new posts can reflect both any revisions to the focus as well as a member roster of sorts.

Thank you very much, Deianira. I would ask everyone that remains interested in this effort to please join us over there. Once we have a core of folks there, we can review what's been summarized, confirm or change anything as necessary, and then get this thing formally off the ground.
