MAD and SAD

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Forgive my ignorance but, I read MAD and SAD as descriptors, or possibly acronyms, on a few posts. Could anyone clue the clueless in on what the heck they mean??

Shadow Lodge

Multiple atribute dependant, single atribute dependant
Example sad: wizard, sorcerer, cleric
Example mad: monk, paladin magus

Cleric is somewhat debatable, I think.

Ahh. Thanks!

true I mostly was trying to keep it symmetrical

Though you could argue that the only truely SAD class would be the 2e spell fire channeler or any other caster that uses con as their casting stat.

Scarred Witch Doctor, for a PF example.

I must ask what RAW and RAI are? Thanks for the other clarification.

RAW = Rules As Written

RAI = Rules as Intended

Other popular abbreviations

Some people get a little sad and mad when they play a MAD class, but not when playing a SAD class.

Scarab Sages

On the other hand, classes benefiting from multiple stats can take things to the extreme at higher levels. You can add only so much to a single stat before further increases become prohibitively expensive or not possible at all.
