Hello Jade Regent Fans!

And a special hello to those that may have wanted to love it but found it might have missed a few notes.

My name is Jim Groves and I have written over 13 different Paizo products in various different product lines. In my adventures I brought you crazy goblins, Asian horror, a hostage crisis, and giant vegetable monsters marauding your local supermarket! Murder and mayhem under the Big Top!

And most recently in The Shackled Hut I brought you a series of critically acclaimed set piece encounters with a dark fairy-tale theme.

Well today I am please to announce that my collaboration with Legendary Games is available for sale at their website, and will be available here at Paizo and Drive-Thru very shortly.

It is called Road to Destiny and it chronicles a series of set piece encounters (not at all unlike The Shackled Hut) which take place in the 540 mile journey from the PCs hometown to the next site of your Far East Adventure Path.

When I say they're "set pieces" I mean that most of these encounters tell their own story. They're detailed and very open-ended with multiple ways that the PCs can resolve them. Many provide hooks for future encounters and plotlines. Every encounter that has a chance of combat comes with an attractive color map (which the GM can use for similar encounters in other campaigns). The encounters have an overall story-arc that fits right in with your Far East Adventure Path, or you can break it out and use it as part of a homebrew game. All you have to do is file off some of the story elements!

And it works with the concepts of traveling by caravan, not against it. The PCs have places to trade and a reason to use their caravan at low levels.

I'm very proud of this adventure. I played Jade Regent myself, and my GM had to come up with encounters for those 540 miles and this is inspired by his struggle. I hope it makes your campaign more fun and robust!

Folks, when he says this fits right in, he ain't kidding. It's pretty much a chunk of plot that looks like it might have been taken out of the original manuscript for reasons of space (certainly not for reasons of quality!).

Hehe, just to be clear, I was never involved with the Jade Regent project. In fact, it was a rare AP where I was a player and not a GM. My GM struggled with how the PCs left Sandpoint and essentially "arrived" at Brinewall to resume their adventures. For him, that was a lot of 'empty space' that screwed with his own suspension of disbelief. I mean, that is 540 miles of dead space. Being a VTT group, it simply wasn't easy or convenient for us to roll on a random encounter chart and pull something out of the Bestiary.

And I don't criticize Paizo for that. Being an AP author myself, I know just how damn difficult it is to serve all needs to all groups, while staying within a limited word count. If you've never grappled with those limitations in a print product, you might not get how agonizing those choices can be.

So when Jason approached me and asked if there was some niche in Jade Regent that I might like to fill, I wanted some content that snuggled right in there—and even foreshadowed events in the Adventure Path without stepping on Paizo's IP. That, to me, is what a Plug-In should do.

Hey folks!

I am to understand that Road to Destiny is being released to our partner sites, like here at Paizo, d20pfsrd.com, and DriveThruRPG today!

It'll really blow your early Jade Regent AP up with a lot of cool new stories and plot hooks to create a robust and memorable adventure.

It's specifically for low levels and really gets those caravans out in actual play. I hope you enjoy!

Here's a link to DriveThru and I expect it will be avilable here at Paizo and d20pfsrd.com before the day is over!

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but Road to Destiny just received a Five Star Review from Endzeitgeist.

If you ever considered a Far Eastern Adventure Path (hint, like Jade Regent) and never got around to starting one, please consider this lost gem. I do everything I can start it strong, along with a host of other Legendary Games Plug-ins like the Bale Coven and Under the Frozen Stars!

My only gripe is that it came out only just after I finished book 1 :-(

Lol.

Lol.

And that has always plagued me with RtD, Dudemeister, but I take your observation with good natured aplomb.

But you know what? That's the glorious thing about RPGs and Adventure Paths? They're permanent and renewable sources of low cost entertainment.

It's never too late to run Jade Regent! You can run it again! And other GMs can still run if they haven't already. Its good stuff!

Yeah absolutely, I dealt with the trek between Sandpoint and Brinewall by adding and encounter with "The Son of the Sandpoint Devil", Wesley Schneider's "The Automatic Hound" (from a Dungeon magazine) to the college town nearby, and doing a bunch of NPC interaction.

They also visited Riddleport (I skipped over it, and started that session with the PCs fleeing Riddleport and Sandru blaming one of the PCs for their sudden need to flee).
"The only way I'll let you stay on this caravan is if we promise to never speak of what happened in Riddleport."

That said, when I do run Jade Regent again I'll probably use this instead.

Very cool and congratulations on the high marks from End
