Help Looking for Specific Scifis...

Television

So i'm looking for Scifis that are either movies, tv shows, or have movie or tv adaptions along with videos games that fall into certain categories.

In no particular order:
-They get evolution wrong
-Everyone always seems to be an atheist
-What appears to be an unrealistic amount of alien species
-They have a message, social commentary, or "thing they want to say" but they say it poorly or without finesse/subtlety

Also, are there any of Scifies that do multiple of the above at the same time to noteworthy effect and are there any that don't do these quite well?

Star Wars?

So what do you think is an "unrealistic amount of alien species" exactly? Any, many, none?

Maybe that last one is a bit too much. Since you mentioned it star wars is an example. Remember that scene with the republic senate meetings in the prequels? That's what I was thinking of.

Practically every monster movie on SyFy gets evolution wrong, wrong, wrong. Both from the standpoint of what creatures look like, or what their anatomy can tolerate, and from the standpoint of what the "scientists" fighting the creatures say about evolution. That one SyFy flick with the giant, leaping piranha, while hilarious, was particularly egregious. Not only can the anatomy of a piranha not tolerate growth to the size of a large sailboat, the sight of several of them leaping a hundred feet into the air, diving headfirst to disappear into a small pond of water that could not be more than fifteen or twenty feet deep, then repeating that process all the way across the Florida Everglades as a means of locomotion inland, was just priceless!

Strangely, though, there's a lot of god going on in those flicks. There always seems to be some connection to Biblical stuff, or some character who loses faith, then gets it back, etc.

I think you are going to find many examples of movies and shows that do all of these EXCEPT the Atheist part. Star Trek - particularly the later series (TNG, DS9, Voyager) had a pretty Agnostic/Atheist worldview, but they did the other things well, or at least made an effort to get those right, show subtlety, reasonable amount of species (some species were related, etc.), and not everybody was an Atheist.

So what's all this for, exactly?

The Republican Senate is supposed to represent an entire Galaxy. That's 100 MILLION plus suns, random evolution means that no two aliens would be alike, so that objection is really without merit, or logic.

Kirk sure as hell was a Christian, and most likely Uhura and McCoy at least as well. As he told Apollo "We find the One, sufficient". Not to mention how choked up he was to find that the Christian movment was finally getting it's act together on Magna Roma, even if it was two millennia late.

As I said that last might be too much so strike it from the list.
