Sorcerer spells as spell like abilities - how badly would this break the game

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

If one were to change all sorcerer spells into spell like abilities (but keep the number known and how often they could be cast), would the game break? How badly?

Just out of interest!

Dark Archive

Spell-likes need no material components, so granting a sorcerer the ability to cast his spells as spell-likes will break the game pretty badly.

Not just no material components, but also no verbal or somatic components - this means no problem casting spells in armour, no concentration checks and no need to worry about spells like Silence.

Balanced against this you couldn't use scrolls or wands except with Use Magic Device, no metamagic feats, no item creation feats (maybe?).

Liberty's Edge

It would break the game pretty freaking badly and it would do so for very little to no return.
