FF6's Kefka

I'm gonna just cut to the chase. Say I wanted to make the clown prince world ending experimental psycho himself as a 1-20 build, how would I go about it?

Thoughts -

Wizard. He is a wuss, learns spells nearly infinitely, and becomes a God.

Bard. Brother IS a clown.

My opinion... Sorcerer. Sucker has STYLE, charisma drips off his batcrap crazy body. Plus he has the same magic experimentation as Celes so he can learn spells with levels without books. Plus he wields a morning star (vs Sabin if you wait long enough without attacking) which Sorcerers are proficient with and wizards are not (this DOES happen to be in the bard group too, but Kefka is a serious puss pre-ascension.)

Thoughts?

Sorcerer gives you some pretty good crazy synergy. But I think wiz is the way to go. Maybe even elk, to beef him up a bit.

Sorcerer or, if you're willing to dip into psionics, Wilder.

Yes! This thread pleases me. Continue your adoration, peasants. I might just not blast you to oblivion today.

I know with Leo he used illusions, and with the espers some instant death effects. And he counterspelled the snot out of anything those espers threw at him.

EK? Doubtful. A clown motley is not armor. He didn't dirty his hands with weaponry.

The more I think about it the more I think sorcerer with counterspell specialization and reach spell to hit folks with x-zone (reach spell planeshift)

Maybe arcane bloodline as his blood was literally infused with creatures of pure magic.

Frankly, I'd use spontaneous casters for all Final Fantasy characters, and with Kefka I can't see him being anything other than a sorcerer (bards have a serious lack of elemental attack spells).

Now, what I'd like to see is a post-ascension Kefka, just to see the shade of white players turn when he casts Fallen One (For those who don't know, Fallen One is an enemy-only spell that reduces the hit points of all PCs to 1, no save.)

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If we Agree that he's a Sorc, then what Bloodline?

Protean, Djinni, and Imperiouos are all popular choices for him. You could even choose wildblooded and go for Anarchic.

Or you could crossblood any of the previous ones. sure your will saves wont be too good, but Kefka was already a few Cids short of an Airship.

I did a boss fight in a game some years ago where one of the villains was based off Queen Zeal from Chrono Trigger, who had a similar attack called Hallation. I got a great deal of "WHAT" from my players when she used it - and I'd used a modified version where it DID have a save, and making it just reduced your HP by half its current total. I think a no-save version might have gotten me lynched.

Well, like I said, his blood was infused with pure magic so arcane works...

Anarchic is perfect both in concept and power reflection.

I would say crossblooded arcane and anarchic.

Bear in mind, that in lore, Kefka was the first Magitek Knight of the Empire; he was a prototype, and there were... issues... which led to his insanity.

Based on information about him in Ultimania, he was apparently a very charismatic warrior for the empire, before that.

Eldritch Knight, with maybe a few levels sprinkled in from sorcerer or another arcane prestige class would probably be a better fit, I think.

FFVI characters are very gestalt in nature (The martial characters can still cast really high level spells, like Ultima, after all). So, maybe a spell-less anti-paladin type gestalted with an arcane bloodline sorcerer?
