PFS Teamwork Pair

Advice

Liberty's Edge

My brother may be starting PFS in the near future.
If he does, I would start a new character to only use when he is there so I don’t out level him (I make it to events a lot more often than he will).

We don’t normally play the same type of characters. He usually plays a bruiser melee type. I usually play a caster type. But since I already have several PFS PC’s that are my preferred caster, I was thinking about matching him as a mini-team. Which immediately brought to mind the teamwork feats. They seem to be mostly (but not entirely) melee related.

I don’t make a lot of melee types and I’ve never even seen the team work feats used except a couple of times I’ve given them to some NPC’s when I was the GM. (Those NPC’s died so fast the teamwork feats never even came into play.) So I’m looking for some help from people that have actually used or at least seen the teamwork feats used by PC’s.

Looking for a couple of PFS legal builds designed to work together making use of the teamwork feats. Any suggestions out there?

Try a pair of trip masters just for the fun?

Provoking AOO's from each others trip attempts, surround the enemy to make it harder for them to flee.

Coordinated Maneuvers, Outflank, Pack attack, paired opportunists, tandem trip, combat expertise, improved trip, greater trip, vicious stomp

You could carry reach weapons but focus on unarmed (though for something this feat intensive I'd suggest fighter over monk)

In the end you'll be moving around the enemy and (both of you) stabbing them when they get tripped, stabbing them when they fall prone, rolling twice for all trip attemps, and taking huge bonuses to AOO's (+4 from the flanking and +4 from paired opportunists)

- a crit fisher twf-kukri user with butterfly sting along with a x4 two-handed weapon martial, both with outflank as a teamwork feat

- two martials with reach weapons, utilizing paired opportunists and pack attack

- a viking fighter and barbarian both with amplified rage

- paired rogues with feint partner, improved feint partner and paired opportunists

- mixing broken wing gambit and paired opportunists

but apart from teamwork feats, think about class and archetype synergies:

A Void Wizard and a Witch

A Quadruped Synthesist Summoner with the ride evolution and a Mounted Fury Barbarian

A Savage Skald Bard and a Barbarian

An Archer Fighter and Urban Barbarian Archer

A Metal Oracle and a Wood Oracle

A Summoner with a buffing bard

Grand Lodge

I'm going to suggest outflank and precise strike as the teamwork feats. You might also want to look into cavalier. It has the ability to give teamwork feats to allies as a short term buff.

A rouge or ninja as one of yours would match up great if you can be flanking buddies with say the cavalier or a fighter/barbarian/ranger.

I would also recommend the feat butterfly sting.

Butterfly sting:

Butterfly’s Sting (Critical)
You can forgo a critical hit in order to pass it on to an ally.

Prerequisite: Combat Expertise.

Benefit: When you confirm a critical hit against a creature, you can choose to forgo the effect of the critical hit and grant a critical hit to the next ally who hits the creature with a melee attack before the start of your next turn. Your attack only deals normal damage, and the next ally automatically confirms the hit as a critical.

Have one of you use a 18-20 weapon and the other use a great axe or scythe. Have the guy with the 18-20 (or 15-20 with keen) set up the high crit mod guy for an auto crit.

Fun stuff

I like many of these ideas.

I like the paired trip masters. But couldn't focus too much since there will be some things that can't be tripped.

My brother probably won't be willing to play a caster. He might be talked into a hybrid that just uses the casting for buffs.

Don't know if he would be willing to do archer or not. Can't remember it ever coming up.

This will be his first time in pathfinder (though he used to play 2.0), so I don't want the builds to be too complicated.

Sythesist isn't legal for PFS.

Had not considered cavalier. I have heard they do poorly in PFS unless you take a small race so you can have a medium mount. he normally runs big bruiser types, but I might be able to talk him into a couple of halfling or gnome riders.

I had not seen butterfly sting before. If you know you are going to be with someone all the time, that could be devestating.

A couple of those suggestions I don't recognize. I will look them up this weekend.

reach weapons with monks using paired oppurtunist specializes in trips. But the reach weapons allow you 2 smacks as the enemy comes in at +4 to hit. So you still can take advantage of that feat. I would make one a trip master and the other a power attack bruiser with pushing assualt. So if you do hit you push them back a square and then you 5 foot back so they get hit 2 times again for coming close if they are a flyer. If you fight a trippable opponenet he trips as they approach you damage and abuse the combo.
