I have a half-orc barbarian who will eventually dip into sorcerer and head into dragon disciple. Almost all of my characters for PFS so far have been human and it's been easy to pick a faction, but I'm not sure about this guy. He's dumber than dirt, is complicatedly kind-hearted and his favorite game is hitting things as hard as he can.

I thought Shadow Lodge was the I don't care about factions faction? That was actually my first pick when I started but...

If you are planning on playing him out as CN... but with "kind hearted"... hm... that's tough. Also you say "kind hearted" in the same sentence as "hitting things as hard as he can". :-|
How about Sczarni? If he is as simple-minded as you say maybe he thinks he is doing the right thing (but doesn't have enough Int to know he is not)???
Sounds like your character's motivations are on some level deeper than the alignment and "kind hearted" juxtaposition you have set up.

Like I said, "complicatedly kind-hearted." Kinda like Lenny from Of Mice and Men or Ludo from Labyrinth... but is generally nice-ish to those who he perceives as being nice to him, and indifferent or possibly hostile to anyone else. I suppose if I made him CG instead of CN, he's end up being more like the Cookie Monster; kind and violently enthusiastic.
I was thinking Sczarni, but I have two other Sczarni characters and the factions missions I've done so far seem like they would require far more intellect to accomplish (or even remember). The Sczarni's Bad Reputation trait looks very attractive though. Shadow Lodge would likely have been my go-to here except I'd have to change in a few months anyway.

Without more of an explanation of his personality or motivations, it seemed conflicting to me. Obviously they are not mutually exclusive (though now I have a picture of a butt-kicking Gandhi going through my head). That was why I wrote...

And with Dust Raven's further exposition it makes more sense to me. I think I will agree and +1 Netopalis' suggestion to go Shadow Lodge, do the retirement for the Shadow Lodge and then re-examine the character once you have played him a few times... sometimes walking around in the character's skin (i.e. playing them a few times) helps you "find" the character's voice and it will become clear.
