UI suggestions

So I was thinking and I had a couple of suggestions for the UI.

Have the UI scalable. So we can make the whole thing smaller. Also allow us to scale individual pieces without effecting the rest of the interface.

Allow each part of the UI to be moved around whereever the player wants them too then locked down. This would include the main UI features but also things like the buff/debuff bars, special mechanics (combo point type of things).

Allow the player to have up to half or a dozen action bars.

Highly customizable raid/party interface.

Select what data gets displayed on chat tabs. Allow many chat tabs. Allow people to pick the opaqueness. Allow players to hide the chat tab if they want too.

Allow players to rebind everything.

scrolling combat text if selected.

im torn on if there should be mods allowed (like wow), they can make things much nicer. I think that GW should look at what type of mods are popular with other games, discuss if they are appropriate for PfO, and implement them directly to PfO. If you do that then there shouldnt be a reason to allow player mods.

Not allowing player mods also has the advantage of putting all the players on even footing, so one group doesnt have an advantage over another.

I think from these suggestions you may have the basic concept of player abilities a bit out of scale. Having 2 or more Action bars will be absolutely pointless for the primary reason that any given PC will only EVER have something like 10 action slots available to slot "class" abilities, feats, and skill which will determine what actions your PC can take at a given time.

Equipping abilities to these slots are how you "design" your "class" as it were.

Secondly, I highly doubt there will be a typical "party/raid" interface involved with the UI, simply out of the fact that isn't something you can reasonably play off as in character knowledge, having an automatically updating status report on allies health, status, and flags is something on par with multiple uses of 1st-2nd level spells. I can see equipment, or magical aura that can benefit people with just such a utility.

As convenient as it would be, I feel it would be disruptive to the believability to make "targeting" as trivial as moving your mouse to an invisible icon being displayed in the PCs head, not to mention that it breaks any concept of perception, line of sight, and outright gives every level 1 commoner telepathy out to infinite range.

Yeah i believe they were going for a more Guild Wars 2 approach where you only have 10 slots to put skills/feats in and according to which abilities/skills you slot your playstyle changes.

Costumable UI to move around chat screens, minimap etc would be nice. It gives you a personal touch. Same for keybinding.

I'm not that fond of mods/plugins but that's a personal opinion. If they go that way they'll probably be available for everyone so you have a choice if you want to use them or not.

One thing I'd really like to see is the ability to arbitrarily re-order the people in my party/group list.
