Throw Anything damage.

Advice

How do I know what damage an item will do for throw anything? For example if I have a player pickup a rock and throw it, how do I calculate the damage?

Grand Lodge

Depends on the rock.

Anyone care to elaborate? Let's say it's a 5 pound rock, nothing special?

Compare to a statted weapon.

since the weight is heavier than a typical rock, you could use the range increments for a thrown weapon, I think that is 10ft, and use the damage of a bullet.

Anyone else getting flashbacks to Killer Croc in the "Almost Got Him" episode of B:TAS?

Improvised Weapons: Sometimes objects not crafted to be weapons nonetheless see use in combat. Because such objects are not designed for this use, any creature that uses an improvised weapon in combat is considered to be nonproficient with it and takes a –4 penalty on attack rolls made with that object. To determine the size category and appropriate damage for an improvised weapon, compare its relative size and damage potential to the weapon list to find a reasonable match. An improvised weapon scores a threat on a natural roll of 20 and deals double damage on a critical hit. An improvised thrown weapon has a range increment of 10 feet.

5lbs is a decently heavy chunk of rock. I'd probably compare it to the club, which is the closest in weight bludgeoning weapon that could be thrown, so 1d6.

5 pound rock?

Use club stats.

I may be wrong - my CRB is not at my side - but I could have sworn that Improvised Weapon (one-handed) and Improvised Weapon (two-handed) were included on the weapon tables in the Equipment chapter.

I'd agree with club damage for a good chunky rock.
