I won't be able to do those movies this weekend...due money issues.

Yes a long time ago...the game outstripped my computer...one day I will get a new comp...and maybe again.

Won't you take a ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road

(heavy metal was a trip when I was a teenager I should watch it again for nostalgia's sake.)

If you had to live in an RPG setting (of your choice), what world would it be?

Just to clarify, I don't mean your character. I mean you.

StarFinder....as it is sci-fantasy I get both super cool tech and magic.

Plus very affordable means to be myself.

Next Question:

If you were a Starfinder adventurer, what class would you be?
What theme?

(Again, not a character, you.)

Howdy,

How is Emperor Floyd & Princess/Prince Kitten doing these days?

Health wise Floyd seems to be over whatever that was. But sadly I think are is starting to catch up. :( He is going back to the vets in a couple of weeks.

Princess Kitten(My niece named her a name I dislike due negative conocations of somebody I worked with So I call her Luna in my head) is doing fine.

She loves Floyd...And Floyd seems to like her but she is continuing jumping him and playing with him. He does not seem to mind...but he is older now so he has a shorter tolerance for it.

Today he even started to groom her...till she 'attacks!

Surprising, given how much you hated WotC for their revision to the Forgotten Realms.

I am full of surprises.

I boycotted for a entire edition (through 4th ed was really easy to skip) and still refuse to buy anything for it. But unfortunately friends still play it and I want to play with them....it is not that bad.

I really dont get though why they are still supporting pretty much Chick Fil A of gaming companies...(okay WotC is not that bad...but they did a heavy dose of 'remove the gays' from their settings)

It wasn't "in your face" before. (As I mentioned before, I completely missed the subtext.)

I understand that they kind of "nerfed" the major female characters too.

Some of them were pretty obvious....like x Queen is in love with her princess consort...

They d3stroyed, ignored, time jumped away from like 99% of relvenlent female chsracters....and pretty much replaced them with nothing.

Finally watched Heavy Metal last night...

You took a ride... on Heavy metal. Yeah it's very 80's.. and violent. good music tho!

Okay. Color me oblivious.

Selene Spires wrote:

Actually, the time jump could have been a good thing, if they used to to weed down ALL of the high level NPCs.

But, that isn't what they did. :(

Hey, if they are going that kind of "retrograde" with their social progress, then why not bring back the chainmail bikinis? Oh, that would still have required female characters ...

Selene Spires wrote:

So, going back to my original questions.

* - Could having a more (1981 meaning) diverse collection of writers and artists have improved the end result? (... or at least stopped some of the bad ideas.)
* - Does the Taarna story actually have enough substance to create a Pathfinder 1E character?

Re: Heavy Metal

1) Definitely Yes!

2) Mmmm...not really.

So something crystallized for me lately. I was born with brain damage and have a speech impediment. Because this all of my life people have patronize me. They can't seem to (probably) on a sub conscience level resist me being as smart as them. When I get a smart idea they either credit the first person who support it(even when that person give me full credit) or act very surprised and pat me on the head. And if I get into a debate( or arguement) they fight tooth and nail to win or try to shame me for giving my point of veiw or not engage. I believe this mostly stems from a fear of not losing to someone with brain damage. Admittedly this makes me at time to debate (or argue) aggressively as I feel I have to go all in to win.

Everyone treats acts this way towards me. Family, friends, co-workers..
All do it. It doesn't matter how long I have known them.

And honestly I dont see a way of changing it. :(

When your around the right people they won't even notice. I personally have a speech impediment and my close friends don't even act like they are aware of it. One time I was out in public and someone started to make fun of it. My friend got right in his face and shamed the guy before I could say another word.
Good friends are how I get through all the $%^@.

I should be fair there has been some people have treated me well. But it not so much of 'making fun that annoys me it is more the patronizing that gets me. It is also a lot harder to fight as they think they are being nice and accepting people

Is the problem one of education? (i.e., if they knew better they would act better?)

I dont think education is the case here...though it never hurts.

My thinking is a factor of two things.

1) The need of people need to feel superior. And people with disabilities is easy to feel superior too.

2) Depiction of people in media with disabilities.

So...anymore questions for me?

What are some of your favourite non-Immortal/Outsider critters?

I don't want to "like" or "favorite" this, as it isn't good. :(

We only have to look at FanFic to see how some of the contributions (of at least girls/women) might have changed things.

Selene Spires wrote:

Yeah, making her "mute" was not the best idea.

(... the relative popularity of the character among most female sci-fi/fantasy/gamer fans of that time probably has more to do with the shortage of strong/capable/proactive female characters.)

There are cool many. So I will give one back from the old 1st ed that wish would be updated.

That is the Werefox.

I think the fact there was not any women writers involved was why both of the main female protagonist was mute...being the girl (who had like two lines) and Taarna.

Um...I like to answer that with a quote from treebeard(from Lord of the Rings movies...not sure if the quote is from the book)

'I am on no one's s side as no one is on my side.'

Since you've rewatched Heavy Metal, have you heard about it's "sequel" series, Love, Death & Robots (on Netflix)?

Yes I loved most them and I am eagerly awaiting season 2.

I just like the quote.

Though I appreciate the support I get here (It is what keeps me going...That and a very strong desire not to let the basterds win)

At time I need more in my life.

Especially with the lockdown going on.
