Zatanna Zatara

Zatanna Zatara is the daughter of magician Giovanni "John" Zatara and Sindella, a member of the mystical Homo Magi race. Zatanna was raised by her father in a small house in New York, near the infamous Arkham Asylum. Zatanna's mother seemingly died after her birth, but she eventually learned that Sindella faked her death to return to her people.

Zatanna is a direct descendant of the artist and magician Leonardo da Vinci, and is related to Nostradamus, Alessandro Cagliostro, the noted alchemists Nicholas Flamel and Evan Fulcanelli, and Lord Arion of Atlantis. Her cousin, Zachary Zatara, is also a magician.

Goals for this build:
* - Mistress of Magic (While a sexy woman, she is also a powerful "sorceress" and occult scholar.)
* - Gifted Performer (She acts as a stage magician - which ironically also serves as a "cover" for her adventuring.)
* - Logomancy, her backwards speech spell casting. We will treat this as a variant of normal verbal components. The player should practice saying some of her most important spells backwards.

For this build:
* - We will you the 20 point (High Fantasy) array as defined on page 16 of the Core Rulebook. This had evolved into the point based used by most groups for Pathfinder Adventure Paths. This is also the base that Neil Spicer used for his AP pre-gens.
* - We will take the average roll of 2d6x10 for her starting equipment.
* - Costume. In the DCU, Zatanna has two major costumes: This for performing, and occasionally this for adventuring – but she frequently seems to prefer her performing attire even when adventuring as a tribute to her father. However, given that Golorion is in a period well before Herrmann the Great established what is now the traditional stage magician attire. One way of paying homage to that would be to for Zatanna to use the traditional Varisian performing attire as a "tribute to her father." [(In any event she is not averse to taking advantage of her sexuality to advance her goals.)]
* - We are treating Sindella as an elven woman from the Mierani Forest, and Giovanni Zatara as a Varisian man. Zatara is a very Varisian name, and the hidden city of Celwynvian is a good analog for “the hidden City of the Homo Magi” mentioned in Zatanna’s background.
* - We are ignoring Shadowcrest.

Zatanna Zatara
a.k.a.: the “Mistress of Magic,” Princess of Prestidigitation, Zee, Z, Zanna, Zanny, and Magic Maid.

Level 6 Raise Knowledge: Arcane, Knowledge: Local, Knowledge: Nature, Knowledge: Planes, Knowledge: Religion, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device. Add Hold Person and Major Illusion to her book.

While we could continue this build to Lvl 16, where the player could create Shadowcrest (Greater Create Demiplane and Permanency), that would be boring. At this point you should have feel for is needed for the build. She should proceed organically from this point.

Great Job!

As a GM I probably would allow you to combine all the performs in to Stage Magician...but that would be up to the GM.

Actually, you'd want to keep dance separate. It's a Varisian thing. But, for the most part, I stuck with the list from page 103 of the Core Rulebook.

Have you watched Heavy Metal yet?

Of course!

In addition to any house rules your group uses, you have to make necessary tweaks to fit whatever AP she may be used in. (For example, she doesn't have a Campaign trait, as noted in her stats.)

Also, most comic geeks will recognize the name ...

So I have some possible bad news( well if you are a pet lover)

My cat, Floyd, just threw up a little blood. We are going to take him to the vet asap...but he is 15 years old so probably not good:(

He has had a good run and I will miss him as he has been a rock in my life the way only a pet can be.

And I guess there is hope that he is okay...

Floyd Update: He threw up more blood last night. Went to the vets this morning and we are waiting on some tests. He is currently sleeping in my room.

This is good.

(And, in that case, Floyd needs to start doing his own health updates. ;)).

Do you know if there is a Wild Magic (Scarlet Witch) sorcerer bloodline?

I think so... I will look it up.

I couldn't find one that I felt fit well...there is a PrC or Alternate class that allowed someone to shape chaotic magic...but could not remember it...

But I was thinking of...Primal magic and the Primalist from the Inner Sea Magic book.

*scratches head*

I could have sworn there was an Oracle thing for dealing with Wild Magic, hmm.

*Is summoned by reference to wild/primal magic.*

The Spellscar oracle mystery includes the option of the Primal Mastery revelation, which lets one roll twice and choose when a spell one casts produces a primal magic event, but reliably doing so with an oracle is a bit tricky (the arcane options - wizards and arcanists - have it easier), and might depend on spells for a few levels, if my memory serves (which it might not).

Primal warden shamans produce random spells with their spirit magic feature, and starting at about mid-level can reroll once or twice a day if they don't like the first result (but can't choose between the two).

Sorry, not a question, I know, but glad to be of service. :)

Actually, looking at Scarlet Witch's comic history, Primalist works rather well for her.

I was looking at a Sorcerer mostly so the build did not end up too similar to Zatanna.

Looking at these options, the Spellscar Oracle might do very nicely (even including her bouts of mental instability as her "Curse").

RPG Advice ...

The next time you're character takes damage, say this: "I'm hurt so bad that Taylor Swift wrote a song about me."

So anymore questions for me?

How are people doing?

Anybody interested playing Legends of the Five Rings with me?

Over at my friend's V-Space thingee on discord I am one of of the GMs for the L5R shared universe campaign (also a player)...there is also a Shared Universe Star Wars going on along with some other games. Every night there is something going on.

Membership does cost money (though the fist month is free and if you become a GM you can get it for free along with a chance to get tips).

Anyway I would love a chance to play with people from here...and L5R is a very fun game. Drop a PM if you are interested or ask any questions here.

Also if I can get enough people here interested in playing here I might be able to get interest enough in PF2E I might be able to get them to realize letting me run PF2E (and PF1E) games can make them money...

I'd love to but my (even wonkier now) schedule and internet probably wouldn't let >_<
