Probably pre-generated characters would work better...but I prefer character creation instructions.
In your vast playing/game mastering experience, what is the male to female ratio you are seeing at your tables? (Have you encountered a non-binary player?)

Unfortunately not good...in all my years of playing I have played with 4 or 5 women gamers...compared to the 100+ guys I have played with. Never had a women GM either...Though I am trying to get into my friend's game.

I have had 1 trans woman in my game...for one session...and than she moved to Florida. And I have played with one trans man...other than that not that I know of.

This is not counting the play by post games though...

My starfinder group that I ran had myself (a trans woman), two cis women and two cis men, and the D&D group I am in is currently 3 cis men, a nonbinary person, myself, and a cis woman.

Buuuut I think the main reason there is that much diversity is that my gaming groups are mostly derived from people I know, or people that my friends know - if I were to go to a games store and try to join a game, I have no doubt that it would be 90% cis men.

Alright then, what "in your opinion" would be a good gender balance among pregens? The adventure calls for 4-6, so I plan on 8 characters. I am helped by the fact that the MARVEL Savage Sword of Conan era has a higher tolerance for magic then the REH stories.
You could make the pre gens be either as the players desire...

You're right! If I go more minimal, I can put my focus where it should be.

Let me think on this one...

Like this?

Actually it is more of a avoidance as when I start listing some of my favorite sci-fi writers I get political backlash...

Like I mention Robert Heinlein...and suddenly I am a facists...because people don't know how to read...and yet I will credit one of his novels as the first steps in realizing I am transgendered...

He did have some extreme ideas. :)

He did at that...I did not agree with him 100%...but his books are thought provoking...which unfortunately people dont like doing when it comes to politics.

Pretty much...just write the backgrounds so that gender is interchangeable.

As someone who somehow manages to enjoy the written works of one of histories most xenophobic authors, I can agree that there is value in exposure to works by people who have very iffy ideologies, so long as you engage with the works with an understanding of how problematic they are. Reading starship troopers doesn't make you a fascist, but reading it and agreeing with the philosophy that is taught to Rico in the book probably does (as he is literally being taught to believe in a fascist system of government in the book).

I am super lucky that I was able to figure this stuff out when I was 25 (I am 28 now). Though even then I wish it had been earlier. It has been my experience that the people who came out later in life have sadly struggled with this stuff a lot, so I am again, super lucky. (Though in other areas of my life I have been incredibly unlucky).

I just hope you don't give up on seeking chances to be yourself and to connect with people as yourself. Every little bit I have found has been an amazing feeling and I think everyone deserves to feel that.

Very true...but Heinlein was a libertarian himself wrote the book not propose a working fascist system of government...but to explore the question of why men fight wars?

Anyway all idealougies are iffy...and we all need to understand how they are all problematic.

Should 2E gillfolk use 1) a variation of their 1E attribute bonuses and penalty, or b) should they be treated as another 2E human heritage as half-orcs and half-elves are?

If 1) and gillfolk are distinct from humans, then would half-gillfolk (child of a gillfolk and human) work as a human heritage?

Mmm...I would say either makes sense...So my guess is they would go the path of least resistance and make it a human heritage.

But if they do make gillfolk a distinct race than yes a half-gillfolk human heritage would make sense.

Yeah, I'm working up gillfolk as a separate ancestry, and half-gillfolk will be a human ancestry like half-elves and half-orcs.

PF2E Kitsune are a thing?

Depends on what you mean.

If you mean: are they announced as coming to PF2E in an upcoming product (or 3PP product)? Then, No, not yet, at least not that I could find.

If you mean: is there a demand for PF2E kitsune, then yes, I believe there is.

Yeah added the fact that on how ancestries work in PF2E kitsune would be very hard to do well and meeting people's expectations of what kitsune are.

It is the shapeshifting...for some reason game designers overrate the agility.

I think I figured out how to do a kitsune ancestry properly under PF2E. The hardest parts were 1) keeping shapeshifting in line with Paizo's design philosophy, which I agree, Paizo does overly weigh the limited forms (one single alternate form) of shapeshifting, and b) figuring out how to do the nine-tails progression.

John Napier 698 wrote:

I agree. Kitsune seem to always "breed" true, even when procreating with other humanoids. Any non-kitsune with some kitsune in their ancestry would likely be a form of kami-blooded aasimar.

Be careful about mentioning breeding and Kitsune in the same sentence, you might over-excite some people on these forums.

So what did you figure out..,

I would probably give them the change right out the gate...

For the tail progression I would create a series of feats that give you a tail at certain levels...kinda like how the break up spell progression for multiclass spellcasters...

The One to sweep me off my feet...

How about a Kitsune tail every two levels as racial feats, which also grants the Kitsune the spell-like ability associated with that tail?

For the Tails you could gain them similar to how the Spellcasting feats from the Multiclass Dedications work.

Take Feat, you gain a power, at level x you gain extra tail and power, at level xx you gain another tail and another power.

Take Improved Feat, you gain another tail and power, etc

True. Being Heterosexual & Cis-Genered there are concerns that I don't automatically see.

However, since New Jersey to California would be a bit of a commute, you won't actually play the character.

But, depending on your Conan knowledge, I would be fishing for ideas. :)

It would be more who is GMing and playing that I look at in gaming...

True. Being Heterosexual & Cis-Genered there are concerns that I don't automatically see.

However, since New Jersey to California would be a bit of a commute, you won't actually play the character.

But, depending on your Conan knowledge, I would be fishing for ideas. :)

Oh you want to know I would play...mmm...

I am thinking a witch. Outcast by her village she wanders the world looking for people to help...and damsels needing rescueing...

Probably pre-generated characters would work better...but I prefer character creation instructions.
In a "(MARVEL Era) Conan/Red Sonja themed Pathfinder 1E adventure" ... what would interest you in playing?

Ah! So, most likely from one of the Hyborian kingdoms that are less tolerant of magic (Aquilonia, Nemidia, even Argos). Hmmm ... She would have good reason to flee East or South, where magic is more tolerated (if not loved).

Of course, per your wise advice, the character would be a he/he (and distressed dudes/damsels). :) On point though, it is a good concept that I had not thought of. :)

You should go with she/he/they....

Have you noticed how much the Gaming world has changed?

* - 2004 - LGBTQ inclusion in games isn't even an afterthought
* - 2009 - Paizo is way ahead on LGBTQ inclusion in their game products.
* - 2019 - LGBTQ inclusivity is the norm in gaming products from virtually all companies.
