When are the other Paizo folks going to allow you to scribe "Pathfinder Player's Companion: Flumphs of Golarion"?

Silver Crusade

Gonna have to get to work on those cookies.

As for a question aside from adventures and followers of Desna what other allies do Flumphs usually have?

I'm not sure that's a good idea, really. I think I got most of my flumph love out with Misfit Monsters Redeemed.

They'd probably get along with anyone or anything that was kind and willing to actually listen to them. Maybe blink dogs?

The Magnimar Book is up there as one of my favorite books in the campaign line. I think you have said James did a lot of work on that, but I also know that you can be gracious and modest too.

Can you share some parts of that book that you introduced or significantly impacted upon?

James did the majority of that book. I only wrote the Denizens chapter. I was really happy with the mystery cultist and the new azata, though. :)

Not in any way to demean the noble Flumph but can they support more wight than their own? Say if a gnome or halfing spellcaster stood on their disc shaped body to form a rather effective weapons platform?

Odds are pretty good. However, there aren't as many demodands as there are other evil outsiders. They're fairly limited compared to the others.

They have a Strength of 10, so the rules say they could. It's kinda silly, and I'd expect choosing to serve that purpose would come down to the individual flumph.

I'm a developer and I mostly work on the Adventure Path line, but I also develop Campaign Setting products and have developed one Player Companion. When it comes to the APs, I figure out (along with Rob and James) what goes into the back matter articles and bestiary. Then I outline that stuff, and assign it to freelancers. When I get the turnovers back I go through them and make sure that not only the rules do what they're supposed to do, but also make sure that it all fits in our worldview.

John Kretzer wrote:

When I get in the office in the morning, I usually check the boards for a few minutes before digging into whatever I didn't finish the day before. I don't really have a strict routine I keep to, because there are a lot of moving parts to the stuff we do and it's best to be as flexible as possible. Either way, I spend most of my time working on the stuff mentioned above mixed between talking to other members of the team to get feedback and ideas. I like working cooperatively, so it's great to always have brilliant minds to pick at when I hit a block.

John Kretzer wrote:

Most of it. I mean, when you work a job where you get to be creative and that end result helps people have a fun time, there's not much bad to it.

John Kretzer wrote:

I hate the days when I'm just not firing on all cylinders. At times, there's a need to "be creative, NOW!" and the ideas aren't just flowing, or my brain can't come up with a really good way to say something or another. Those times are kinda frustrating, but seeing as how I have a whole crew of people here, a solution is never far away.

Also, Adam got a reputation for being a flumph-o-holic after he championed the critters into Misfit Monsters Redeemed. How true is that reputation? ONLY DAIGLE KNOWS.

Coincidentally, they have (in my opinion) the best redemption in the book.

Question. Are you aware if spoken ominously, you could easily substitute:

I inherited it from Tim Hitchcock after he wrote the adventure in Dungeon Magazine "Box of Flumph". Then a few messageboard posters and myself started a flumph anti-defamation campaign since the poor critters have been so mistreated (I'm looking at you, certain stick figure comic!) Turns out, it worked!

I think our pronunciation differs, but that first syllable nails it.

Dear Mr. Daigle,

You had a really cool PFS quest called "The Urge to Evolve" in KQ #23. Are you working on any other adventures, PFS or otherwise, that might be coming to a gaming table near us soon?

Also, what's the over-under on getting a Dear Mr. Daigle feature in one of the next AP volumes? It'd be like Dear Abby, but with more flumphs.

Man, that's a tough question. Partially tough because I think we have a good thing going as we near 80 AP issues, and if you have something working, changing it up mid-stride can be dangerous. But, since you added "knowing that all three would be wild successes" I'll give it a go. Also, I don't have three right now, but if I think up something awesome I'll update.

One change that's coming soon is that we're trying something new with the Pathfinder Journal in the Adventure Path following Wrath of the Righteous. While we don't have all the details totally hashed out, I think it's going to be an exciting change.

You stumped me, boss. I'll have to get back to these thoughts later.

Hrm, my ancient Nosferatu is a little bit rusty, but I think I can translate the question for you decently, Adam.

Ahem.

In no particular order:

Bestiary 1—barghest, bugbear, choker, dark creeper/stalker, ghost, harpy, night hag
Bestiary 2—brownie, dark slayer, faceless stalker, grig, gug, mongrelman, many of the daemons, redcap, shining child, skulk, spriggan, twigjack, vexgit
Bestiary 3—divs, atomie, azruverda (but I wish the art was cooler), berbalang, gorynych, lunar naga, pale stranger, tanuki, tzitzimitl

I'm sure there's more.

I don't watch a ton of TV. Most of what I watch I end up watching with my wife. We are part way through a bunch of series. Recently watched series would be Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, Hannibal, House of Cards, various network sitcoms like Modern Family... and I know I'm forgetting other stuff right now. I also don't have cable, so much of my "television" watching is Netflix or Hulu

Miller's Crossing
Dazed and Confused
City of Lost Children

1. I do! It looks fun.

2. I maintained this List of Stuff I've Worked On up until I moved here and started working full time a little under a year and a half ago. All of those things in the list I did some writing for. Since I've been here, I've had my hands in every AP since Pathfinder #57, and have done some sort of work on various books in various lines, mostly Campaign Setting and Player Companion stuff.

3. Aside from the obvious answer of gaming and writing and coming up with games, I like music, cooking, reading, and generally goofing off.

4. Like how? Like to play, like to write about, or like existing? I like humans the mostest and don't really dabble in other races that much as a player, but if I did I'd want to do something more exotic than a halfling or elf. I'd love to play an android and explore some of the questions that can come up in play. Assimars and tieflings have their certain hotness. Grippili would be cool for the right game. I like the strix and svirfneblin (and wrote those two sections in the ARG). I'm interested to see how a skinwalker turns out.

5. Though I'm familiar with the premise of each of those titles, I've seen none of them. I believe some of them are on my Netflix streaming queue.

6. When it came out, there was a small indie theater (Dobie Theater in Austin Texas) that was playing it. I saw the listing in the Chronicle and it seemed cool and I heard good things about it from friends, so I went to check it out with some friends. We were delighted.

7. No, not really. I'd prefer to deconstruct what elements of something I like are appealing and why they are appealing and then funnel that into my own work.

Creepy aside only Wes will truly understand:
When typing that last sentence I typoed "owb".

Cheapy wrote:

I think we have a lot of variation with archetypes to build a ton of character concepts, so I'm pretty satisfied. I don't feel I need a particular base class, but I think a dedicated investigator-type and a dedicated builder-type would be neat. Both would have their design concerns. The investigator, which can be covered with a lot of character options already, would be best suited for a particular style of game, so it would be weak in some games and strong in others. The builder would be a concern because it really reaches into a few other design structures of the game, so balancing something like that out would have to be delicate.

Of course, I can leave those concerns in the hands of the design team. You just asked for my opinion. :) Take that Jason, Sean, and Stephen!

I designed that critter when I was still freelancing for Paizo, so I got the assignment from Wes giving me a brief description of what he wanted the critter to do and what it looked like. Colorful beetle with a woman's face and the size of the creature was the gist of the description, so of course I imagined the glorious things that float around in my mind's eye. I love bugs and I like the good things that end up striving in the Darklands, so I was super happy to get this creature. I guess I just imagined it to be different, more a personal taste thing than anything else.

Weird question. :) I'd choose Rob. He works hard and he works good. It's a hard choice though, because I wouldn't want to slow his work down by being my lackey. Of course, we work on the same thing (and we work right next to each other) so if he was my lackey we'd both be making progress in our day-to-day work in some way.

Edit: Also, I'd get to win all our arguments.
