King Maker: Stolen lands - Looking for 3 players

Recruitment

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Looking for interest in Kingmaker, we have had a few dropouts. We are looking for a rogue, a tank, and a caster. We will be selecting one of each to start and a back up for each class.

Let the players come forth.

I am looking for explorers to map and claim some of the wilds of the Stolen Lands. You must have a strong will, perseverance, and a powerful wanderlust. Many dangers await within the wilds, beasts, fey, and the whole array of monsters. If you prove your worthiness you should be able to claim your own kingdom, carving your own personal home from the wilds you tame.

abilities:

I am not a fan of the buy out systems, so roll 5d6 seven times. Taking the three highest of the 5 rolled and adding them together. Six of these will be your stats. Please show the dice rolls on the recruitment page.

One more twist to help your characters to have that little boost to be excellent in what you do. You may take away from one stat and give it to another. But the top stat cannot be more than 18. But only one time.

So for example you have 11 and 15. Take 3 away from 11 and give 15 those 3. So the 11 becomes 8 and 15 becomes 18.

traits:

2 Traits, and one campaign trait...

Roll for your money or take average, but your background story is where you can gain more!

Create a quick blurb about your appearance.

background:

The more interesting your background story the more bonuses you might stumble upon or requests granted. Make connections between yourself and other NPCs and PCs. After all you will be carving out a kingdom together. Such connections could be nobility, guilds, entities, dragons, magical beasts, gods, societies, towns, the townsfolk, the people in charge, etc.

I've long thought that character backgrounds are where players should offer plot hooks to the DM instead of the other way around, you then have more buy into the campaign.

Make 2nd level characters, with max hit points for 1st level and rolled hit points from 2nd level and on. I reserve the right to have you re-roll your hit points, just work with me.

Would certainly be interested and have a character ( Alexander ) that I created for a previous game. Could you direct me to the previous creation rules.

Oh, Never mind

5d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 4, 5) = 18 14
5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 6, 6) = 18 14
5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 2, 3) = 12 9
5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 5, 3) = 20 15
5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 3, 1) = 16 14
5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 4, 3) = 19 15

will make the necessary adjustments to the character

HPs for second level 1d6 ⇒ 6

Hmm, (t)rolling for interest:

5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1, 4) = 18=> 6,6,4=> 16
5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) = 13=> 3,3,3=> 9
5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 1, 3) = 17=> 6,5,3=> 14
5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 2, 6) = 21=> 6,5,5=> 16
5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 4, 6) = 25=> 6,6,6=> 18
5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 3, 2) = 12=> 4,3,2=> 9
5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 4, 6) = 17=> 6,4,4=> 14

Hmm, I suppose a caster's expressed interest, so put me down as most likely interested in a tank (leaning towards Paladin). Are you okay with the idea of knighthood? If not starting in it, at least striving to attain it?

I adjusted the stats by deducting 3 from one of the 14's bringing it to 11 and adding the three to one of the 15's leaving me with the following break down.

9
11
14
14
15
18

5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 2, 4) = 16 = 12
5d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 5, 2) = 18 = 13
5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 2, 3) = 13 = 11
5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 3, 5) = 20 = 13
5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 3, 6) = 23 = 18
5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 1, 4) = 14 = 11
5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 3, 6) = 25 = 18

Gotta sort this out when I finish on the phone, but these are my roles. :)

5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 1, 1) = 17 15
5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 1, 6) = 12
5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1, 5) = 15 13-1
5d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3, 1) = 13 10
5d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6, 1) = 19 17+1
5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6, 3) = 19 15
5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 5, 6) = 20 14

Probably a rogue(sniper)build. Details later.

Could you give us a rundown of what we're supposed to know already please, as reading the gameplay to get a grasp of where we'd come in is a bit overwhelming. :)

5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 5, 4) = 24 15
5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 3, 6) = 23 17
5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 3, 1) = 11 9
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 1, 2) = 17 14+2
5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 6, 5) = 23 17
5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 4, 2) = 17 12-2
5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 2, 6) = 13 10

This could be really interesting.

5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 5, 2) = 18=14
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 1, 6) = 19=17
5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) = 15=12
5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 2, 2) = 15=10
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 4, 3) = 20=15
5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 5, 3) = 18=14

And what are the other players classes and races?

HP: 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 4 = 17

Knighthood possible, striving to attain it definetly would work, give me a background story and you may get the moon. ;)

Looks good Narrater.

I had started on another Kingmaker PbP that unfortunately came to a stop much before it started, so I am giving this one a go if it is ok.

I see that you are looking for a caster, would that be specifically a full arcane caster? I've got my mind set on a support Bard lately :D

Just wanted to ask before I roll anything.

Here's my entry. Just need to adjust the ability scores for whatever I roll.

5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2, 6) = 24 18
5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 2, 3) = 17 12
5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 6, 6) = 24 18
5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 6, 2) = 20 15
5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 4, 4) = 21 14
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 1, 3) = 19 15
5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 5, 4) = 20 14

And now that I've rolled that well for ability scores, I will never roll a single critical hit in the entire campaign. :P

EDIT: Adjustments finished, character done.

Cleric reporting in! Character sheet is here for now, I'll edit in the stats and draw it up on this board if it's accepted.

story:
Koravin Vlarson comes from a very conservative family, one that disapproves of arcane magic and witchery in particular. And by disapproval the Vlarson's mean death by beheading. That was nearly his fate...nearly but Koravin was cunning and when his powers began to manifest he fled into the woods. There he found a cat he called Snow for the creature was pure white, with piercing blue eyes.

The creature began nipping at his clothing, and was trying to drag him to a cave entrance. When he entered it he fell into a deep slumber, one that would claim him for year. When he awoke in the dream world he saw a figure. She was clad in rich furs and a robe of deep blue, her hair was pure white like snow, her eyes were the same piercing blue as the cat's and she spoke in a lauguage he had never heard before but understood perfectly.

Good work my child, you have never failed me my beloved familiar, the cat purred in reaction to hearing this. Now we have a guest one who I hope will help us achieve our goals. Before you begin to ask questions youngling I will tell you of what has transpired in this realm. Once I ruled over a kingdom in this land of the feywild, a realm of august beauty that made all fey across the land sing of us. Then I made the mistake of welcoming the one you know in legends as Baba Yaga into my bosom.

She betrayed me and destroyed my beloved realm of Issiar, the feywild counterpart to Issian. Now I must turn to an outsider for assistance. For I cannot restore what is lost, however a new realm might be built in a land mortals call the "Stolen Lands". So I offer this bargain accept my power and embrace me as your queen, in exchange I will teach you magic and make you one of my children.

He accepted and learned at her feet, learning the original ways of the winter witchs. He awoke one year later transformed his skin a perfect pale white, his hair flowed down to his back in a show of color comparable to pure snow, his eyes had become pure orbs of blue. The cat rested at his feet demanding that he pet it. So then he journeyed to the "Stolen Lands" to fulfill his promise. You are no longer Koravin Vlarson, you are Caladrel Kearin.

GM is the flavor alright? and do you find any hooks you like?

Silver Crusade

This is the extra Thread though I will check this one regularly as well.

Now when I said rogue, tank, and caster; I truly meant rogue/trap finder, tank/fighter/barb/heavy hitter/high AC, caster/boom caster/sorcerer/wizard.

We have a gnome bard, a rat folk witch, a human Caviler, and a human fighter/swordlord. We also have a sorcerer who is not responding for about a week now.

do you want me to give you a new submission in another thread gm that is a boom arcanist?

Silver Crusade

Koravin Vlarson/Caladrel Kearin - you really need to pick one name, but the other is good for flavor and possible family meetings. Good flavor and hooks, though it would be best if you could make him a sorcerer or wizard, we are looking more for a boom caster/artillery, though don't change it if you don't want to.

could he be a debuffer caster you know use Evil eye then slam on a save or die spell? Hes Caladrel Kearin now.

Silver Crusade

It is up to you to submit what you want. Though I am letting the other PCs have first pick, those who have stuck with me. You may want to gear some of your background story to one of them.
Wink Wink, to all applicants.

ok im shelving Caladrel for now...alas another game im using his rolls for the new character give him a "blastiness" rating of 1-10.

but first the story

story:
Korin "sharptongue" is known both for his relentess study of war magic and a biting wit that easily shuts up friends and enemies.

He was born a bastard the result of his mother's relationship with a peasant who are father hated. Needless to say that peasant's spawn would never be given the right to become a noble. Indeed his grandfather tried to strangle him in the crib but his daughter's pleading convinced him to stop. However he would never aknowledge Korin as a member of his bloodline. Hence the reason his name is only Korin "sharptongue".

This drove him to study war magic as a means to escape and helped foster his hatred towards the man. The only way he will ever be able to get revenge on his grandfather is to outshine him and thus humilate him. That is exactly what Korin "sharptongue" would do eventually, but first he had to become great as such he learned at the tower of an evoker.

He learned both the art of war magic and the ability to lead men into battle quickly proving to be his master's foremost student. A year after leaving the tower he gathered a squad of men and led them as a mercenary group. He then operated as a mercenary captain for a year with a squad of 10 men, they were good and popular with nobles who needed bandits killed and hazards removed.

Alas things took a turn for the worst they went into the "Stolen Lands" as business was slow and several of the men had accrued gambling debts. So they went into the stolen lands and were pursuing a group of bandits to their nest and hoping for a good haul of gold, however the bandits nest was far bigger then they had anticipated it contained over 30 of them.

He ordered his men into a square formation with shield raised to defend against arrows. He and the four archers began unleashing their fury on the bandits killing over 8 of them in the first few minutes. However the rest of them had charged from their encampment and attacked his men, they fought furiously however it was was not enough. His men died but they took all but 5 of the bandits down with them, using a vanish spell he escaped but not before swearing to avenge his men.

Well that is certainly a nice selection of stats. Why a boom caster? While sorcerers can fit that bill, i had found that crowd control, buff/debuff provided considerably more benefits to a group.

I can certainly put together a roguish type for your consideration!

I'll drop this toon a level and add some fluff to the background.

Ah, just noticed you wanted us to make them level 2. Should have Xan up there in a few minutes or so. I'm fine either way, but I assume we're not getting bonus gold for starting above level 1? Just checking - I'm fine for starting with average gold.

Level 2 HP:
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

EDIT: And there we go, Xantria Aldori is now at level 2.

Fizzy checkin in on the applicants.

Who wants to be part of the Order of the Fizz?

They call me the Fizzler, I'm all up in dis fizzy bidnizz.

If you want a trap finder, I suppose that replacing trap sense would be a bad idea, or can I stick with the sniper archetype?

You are starting with average gold for 1st level, and anything more depends on your background story. PM if you want more pointers.

You get to create whatever character you want, though I am pretty sure we are looking for a mad skillz trap finding rogue, just saying.

I edit my posts very frequently, so make sure to check through the posts, to make sure you don't miss anything.

Thanks for the health re-roll - already updated her sheet.

As for the gold, I'm fine with average starting gold - the gear on her sheet was bought with average starting gold and still have plenty left over for miscellaneous stuff (was originally going to go towards a pack mule or something but that was back when Xan had a Strength of about 14 - she was pretty close to taking encumbrance penalties there thanks to the Fighter's Kit).

Didnt know what thread to post in for sure, so im posting in both.

Torq Sharptooth, reporting for duty!

Additionally Blood, if my backstory isnt suffcient for level 2 wbl(1k gp), than ill reduce his gear.. If its suffcient for more than that ill be happy to add stuff lol.. thanks.

Not too bad, so Tristan has tried to get into Kingmaker before. He would be a Tank. Will be going Weapon and Shield Ranger with Shield Focus. A good mix of AC and damage and will pick up some more damage when he gets a large Cat later. Editing now. Thanks for the consideration. Will need to adjust gear based on gold. Would only be looking to upgrade Long Sword and to a Breast Plate.

I ended up not posting any character since the support roles are taken, and I already play waaaaay too many martial ones ;)

Silver Crusade

We will be playing on here, and with google docs. I, and sometimes another player, will create the maps for us to see and use.

Another thing to add, I would like each player to post at least 5 times a day. Now I can understand that some days are a bit slow for some of us, for example Tuesdays can be slow for me and on every other Friday I have my homebrew RL D&D session. Weekends are always slow. I can understand that if we are waiting for certain character's actions you may not be able to really post that much in a given day, but the goal is to keep things moving and to post quickly for an encounter.

If you may have any issues with this and not be able to post as much please inform me. I still don't know why people have left or merely dropped out, most likely RL issues and that happens. Please keep in contact with me or the other players so we can know what is going on either before or soon after.

Background:

Chyle was a bastard from house Lebeda, and like most, he was disposed of. He was raised by a poor alchemist and his wife in New Stetven, and they treated him well.
Chyle took a liking to experimenting with alchemical ingredients from his "father". Sadly enough, late in his twelfth summer, he got his father's key to the cabinet with his special ingredients. Chyle were in the process of combining two unknown substances, when his father came into the room. His father ran and threw himself on the ongoing ignition. Chyle survived the resulting explosion, with his foster father as meat shield. In guilt, Chyle ran away from home.
He slept in the streets one night, the next day he couldn't find his way home and ended up on the streets. Trained in the art of stealing and surviving on the streets, he lived on.
Well into his 24th year his earlier crimes combined with a failed violent robbery of a well known noble got him a death sentence. Chyle escaped prison by using his alchemy talents to make a bomb of some ingredients traded into the prison with the help of some buried ill gotten goods and its location.
Chyle took his backup money from its hiding place, and fled the city.
My answer to your wink:
On the way out to nowhere, after a week of hard riding to the stolen lands(Chyle wanted to travel to a place where he wouldn't meet anyone who could recognize him) as he stopped in an inn for the night. There he saw a noble named Viklop Kolavar, who were also in alligency with house lebada. He felt the same usual hatred of the nobles after what they did to him, but he wouldn't want to confront him. That would lead to nothing except more troubles.
Next day when he traveled along the main road he heard battle around the corner. He carefully peaked from behind a tree. He could see Viklop Kolavar and another one, probably a friend. Hiding around 80 feet away, he could see an archer aiming an arrow at Viklop Kolavar. Chyle didn't know why he did it, but he took a bolt into his crossbow, aimed at the archer and shot. The bolt went into the head and the archer collapsed. Chyle got on his horse and got away before anyone noticed anything.

What kind of pie?

Fizzy peers out from under his covers...

I see Lelouch as liking Cherry Pie, so we could have pie sharing gatherings! :p

Torq would probably bludgeon you unconcious over some lemon merang pie, key lime pie would get you the same..

Going with an arcane caster here, but need to see how the stats are going to work out so I can get the crunch right...and they're not too shabby. I see my INT score right off the bat!
