Time we do our own testing and test it on Humans...who is up for a herbal remedy?

And here I was thinking it was virgin coconut oil

As the crackpot website... sorry, highly indepth and researched chinese whispers website says:
The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength.

But then again... other people think that hedgehog bezoars are the literal bees knees.

In particular, bezoar stones found in porcupines are believed to be used to cure cancer, diabetes, dengue fever, typhoid, epilepsy, hepatitis as well as many other conditions.

Don't even get me started on fried pigeon poop...

Seems legit!

4 people marked this as a favorite.

If it weren't so ridiculous to make such a claim without corroboration, I would be angry about the original post. Please refrain from doing so again. You apparently have no knowledge of the psychological process of going through a neoplastic disease.

The real answe is Camel Milk I heard it on the radio.

Clinical Summary
Asimina triloba, commonly known as Pawpaw, is native to North America and has edible bean shaped fruits. In vitro studies showed that Pawpaw extract has cytotoxic properties against cancer cell lines including those resistant to Adriamycin (1)and antiangiogenic properties (9). Compounds known as acetogenins are thought to be the active constituents (2). However, clinical studies are lacking.
Extracts of twigs and leaves have been used in anti-lice shampoos (3) and as pesticides (4).

Annonacin, a major constituent of Pawpaw, and the crude fruit extract have been shown to cause neurotoxicity in vitro (10).
Asimina triloba should not be confused with graviola, also known as Brazilian Paw paw, or with papaya, another fruit with a similar texture and appearance.

Cytotoxicity in vitro is a far cry from "cure for cancer."

Looks like you can get rid of your lice though.

Re: graviola,

Clinical Summary
Graviola, a tree prevalent in the rain forests of Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia, has been used in traditional medicine in many countries.
Extracts of graviola show antiviral (1), antiparasitic, antirheumatic, astringent, emetic (2), antileishmanial and cytotoxic (3) (4), antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory (9), antihyperglycemic (10) and anticancer effects (5) (12) (13) in vitro and in vivo. However, human data are lacking.

Alkaloids extracted from graviola may cause neuronal dysfunction and degeneration leading to symptoms of Parkinson's disease (6) (11).

edit: Again from Memorial Sloan-Kettering's site.

I've seen somebody who used black salve.

I'm truly sad that there's this tribe of ninnys all over the internet hawking snake oil of one form or another, providing false hope for money.

They are not talking about the North American paw paw, rather the Australian paw paw

Clinical Summary
Papaya tree is commonly found in tropical areas around the world. The fruits are consumed as food and as medicine; dried and powdered stem and leaves are used to prepare medicinal teas against infections and to improve digestion. Papaya leaves and their extracts are also marketed as dietary supplements to enhance the immune system, to improve platelet function, and to prevent chemotherapy-related adverse effects.
An in vitro study showed that papaya leaves exhibit anti-tumor and immunomodulatory effects (1). Papaya leaf extracts also contain antibacterial compounds that inhibit the growth of a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (4).
In mice, a powdered suspension of papaya leaves increased thrombocyte count (2) and a water extract reduced alcohol-induced stomach damage (5).
According to a case report, a water extract of papaya leaves was shown to increase the platelet count of a patient with Dengue fever (3).

Papaya leaf extract showed low toxicity (6) in an animal model, but it has not been studied in humans. An international patent has been filed for its use in increasing low platelet counts (7).
Papaya leaf extracts should not be used as a treatment for cancer or for low platelet count until more is known about its efficacy and adverse effects in humans.
