Hi! I’m Stephen DiPesa, one of the writers for the upcoming, Pathfinder-compatible Shadowlands Campaign Setting. Chris Merwin, the owner of BlackStar Studios and the creator of the setting, informs me that we had a thread up on this forum, but it seems to have wandered off on us, so I figured I’d make a new one and share the news.

We’ve got a Kickstarter running for just shy of another month, and we’d love to have folks pop by, check it out, and consider pledging and/or spreading the word!

If I can scrounge the bucks together, I'll definitely back this. Your conversion-files looked very promising indeed.

Glad to hear it! Thank you!

Dotted. /pulls hook out of mouth. Less painful this way.

I just pledged 30 bones and got the hardcover print add-on. It has 20 days to go and is already at 16K. Congratulations to the folks at BlackStar Studios. I was drawn to the project by its intriguing mix of sci-fi, fantasy and post-apocalyptic themes. Spread the word so this Kickstarter can hit the 28K and we get the ultimate Shadowlands Campaign Guide.

I pledged 50 bucks.

I like everything about this kickstartter EXCEPT that it is not going to release until February 2015. That is a LONG wait for a kickstarter reward. Will there be something available for donors within a few weeks of when the KS is completed?

Wow. That's a whole lot of comments while I wasn't looking. Thanks to all of you for your interest and your support!

LMPjr007: The Shadowlands digital map and the 56-page adventure "The Gates of Tarina" are available to backers in the short-term, if those are things that would interest you. Sorry about the time-frame for release; we're a small company and we're very much committed to making the best product we possibly can, so we'd rather take a bit longer to get it done and make sure to do it right the first time.

Oh no I totally understand about being a small company. I am in the mindset of this sound so cool. I can't wait to see it it my hands.

Up to $18,430 with 17 days to hit the $28,000 stretch goal for the ultimate Shadowlands Campaign Guide. Go! Go! Go!

Over $19k, now! Once again, thanks to everyone who's been helping to make this happen!

Shadowlands broke the $20k mark! One of the developers posted a very interesting description of where Shadowlands lies on the Kardashev Scale. Some very cool stuff! If you're looking for a post apocalyptic Pathfinder setting with some hard sci-fi thinking thrown in then stop reading and go back this project!

We're down to the Kickstarter's last twelve days, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that we appreciate all of the support, whether in the form of backing, spreading the word, or whatever else! Thank you!

The Kickstarter is down to only 8 days and they just added an awesome new stretch goal. If the project hits $28k, Collin McComb will join the project to design the region known as Barzakh, the “Place that is No Place”! The designers describe Barzakh as "a combination of alternate universes, different quantum states, dream realms and simulated realities. Barzakh takes its inspiration from films like Inception,The Thirteenth Floor, and Dark City; it will excite and delight fans familiar with (or fond of) the Planescape setting."

Check out the full announcement here: Go to Shadowlands Kickstarter.

This campaign setting just keeps getting cooler! Let's push this thing to the $28k mark!

Colin's contribution sounds awesome, hoping they can achieve that at least!

New Shadowlands Website:

"The Shadowlands is an intentional blend of fantasy and science fiction. It is a post-apocalyptic world so advanced that it appears magical. Part of the realism of the Shadowlands is to re-imagine a world where the possibilities of fantasy are in fact possible, a remembrance of futures past, and to provide a narrative way for players to engage that. Accordingly, it takes inspiration from a number of different sources. The far-future stories of Jack Vance, Gene Wolfe, A Canticle for Leibowitz and the Culture series of Iain M. Banks provide the science fiction foundations of our setting, just as heady films like Inception, Cloud Atlas, and Equilibrium paint images of what it’s like to exist in a world where magic and psionics are fundamental and also controlled!

Finally, the classic Dungeons & Dragons settings of old like Planescape, Ravenloft and the original Dark Sun give a sense of the ways that beliefs, ideologies, motivations, and factional affiliation can affect and encourage great roleplaying!"
