Of course not black pajamas how preposterous we all know how green that part of the world is you'd stand out like a gnome at dwarf wedding I dare say.

Backstory

Vivian Deberth is a young woman of barely 20 years, with red hair and green eyes, and a slender figure. Her mother was a priest in the Pharasman temple of Karcau in Ustalav, and she hoped her daughter will follow the same path. Vivian has dim memories of her father, a soldier who died when she was only a child.
And the teenager had other plans than becoming a priest.

First, becoming a priest was so... dull. Sure , you got to sing from time to time, but not the lovely, lively, rowdy songs Vivian heard in the taverns, when she manages to sneak out of the temple.
Then, becoming a priest of Pharasma, you are stuck between the newborn and the dying, but where is your OWN life?
And the lessons about Pharasma, and religion, and stuff like that... Vivian had an hard time remembering all the prayers, the legends, the codes, the omens... Especially on warm, sunny days.

A few days ago, Vivian mother's grew really pale reading a letter: one of her old friends, Professor Lorrimar, was dead. As her mother was caught by her duties in the temple, she asked solemnly her daughter to go to Ravengro and "represent" the Deberth family and the local church of Pharasma.
At first, Vivian didn't want to go to yet another funeral, then she saw the real, profound sadness in her mother's eyes, and accepted.
It was an opportunity to go out of the Church for a few days, after all.
On the day Vivian was ready to get in the coach for a long trip, some inner instincts send her praying on the floor of the church.
Her mother, seeing her, half joked that maybe,it was her Fate to leave as a good willed scoundrel, and come back as a wise priest.
Vivian made a face at this though. Yuuuuuck...

Personality:
Vivian is a two faced girl: she is a good natured rogue,an happy go lucky scoundrel and jester, always with a smile on her lips and a joke to tell. At other times, she can be , if not serious, but at least wise and far seeing.
She loves to sing, play hide and seek, put things in people pockets, snatching things from RICH people pockets.
She has a natural fear from Undead, knowing a few things about the evil they can do, but its more an healthy fear than a full fledged terror.
She has respect for the dead, the old, the poor and down trotten, and doesn't judge people by their looks but by their deeds.
She have seen more people dying, and babies coming to life, than most young girls of her age.

Chosen campaign trait:
Subject of Study: Vivian doesn't fully remember this, but when she was younger, she was the object of research from Professor Lorrimor after a few encounters with restless spirits into the Temple of Pharasma. (+1 dmg versus Undead)

The young woman sat ramrod straight in the wood chair before the fire in Professor Lorrimor's sitting room. The room buzzed around her, not only because of her odd dress, but because, just perhaps, some recognized her, or at least had heard of her.

It wasn't that the dress was poorly made, nor that it had the cut of a peasant girl's best, for it was neither. Nor was it the long skirts, coming to a stop just inches above the ground to reveal black boots with only a slight heel. It couldn't have been the lace at the neck and wrists, for while black was an odd color for lace, it contrasted well with the black leather gloves, worn indoors despite the warm night. The black hat with its long veil was also appropriate, considering the setting.

What bothered some in the crowd was the style, out of fashion for well over fifty years now. Hopefully, with Shelyn's blessing, this was one style that would never raise its prudish head again.

A bespectacled man, a banker or perhaps a solicitor, approached the diminutive figure carefully, and with obvious trepidation. Almost in spite of itself, the noise of the crowd died immediately, as each guest strained to overhear the conversation.

Responding to the gentleman's unheard question, the young woman replied, "Yes, I am Esmerelda Proust, although I most assuredly do not appreciate being referred to as 'Black Esme.'

With his back to the room, the gentleman's discreet voice eluded his wider audience, though it clearly reached his intended one unhindered.

"Yes, I will tell you of how I met Professor Lorrimor, despite the inappropriateness of the request. I was called here you see, specifically and by name, to return the kindness of a man who meant so much to me.

I met professor Lorrimor in the village of Vische. The trials so prevalent today had just begun then. Whole Counties turned out whenever a stake was raised and kindling gathered. The Age of Unreason he called it, and told me once that his soul despaired of life itself at the thought of what one man might do to another."

The gentleman quickly leaned back, his next question having been met with more than a little indignation. Her chin tilted upward as the short girl stared him full in the face, her green skin glowing in the lamplight and her mismatched eyes flashing anger.

"No, sirrah! I was not there to 'watch' the burning. I was but twelve that night, when the crowd, eager for a spectacle, lit those flames. It was my own mamman upon that stake. You may be certain sir, that no scream passed her lips, and mine was not the only face streaming tears. Black Aliss stared him down throughout the entire proceedings, the coward Witchhunter Coim, a sleek rodent who made his name on the carrion of innocent girls and village midwives.

Responding to another question, "Yes, it was the Professor who rescued me that night, his gentle hands helping me from beneath the wagon under which I hid while they burned my mamman. I stayed with him a year, pretending to be his daughter, although I'd say none was fooled by the charade. At the end of that year I thanked him, but went upon my way, for my mother's soul did not rest easy and her ghost called to me, not for vengeance, but justice!"

The young woman leaned back into her chair as the gentleman before her wrung his hands in worry. Wearily, she replied, "No, good sir, you have naught to fear from me, nor the ghost of my mamman. I understand the need for your questions. I came to pay homage to the man who saved my life and who's soul I saved in return. You need fear no harm from me sir, at least, not for tonight."

Black Esme was made for a Ravenloft campaign which only met once. She is a favorite of mine and I've worked her down to first level. You can find her complete character sheet, two illustrations and her complete character history here.

Esme is a melee witch that I plan to multi-class with magus. She is fierce and independent but with a good heart. Having recently laid some ghosts to rest, like all young women, she is ready to strike out on her own, to find a place in life out from under her infamous mother's name.

If selected, I will update her spells and equipment, expanding her character sheet by two pages and another three illustrations. I wish you the best in choosing your players and understand how difficult it is to choose from so many good submissions.

Sorry just noticed this thread.
Heres an idea but no crunch on it.
Youve GMed all dnd editions? Im sorry for your 4th ed experience. We gave the local rping shop all our stuff for the pathfinder basic rules boy did we do the right thing.
Scarzni shifter ranger with heavy ties to Ustalav.

history:

The howls rang out into the night.

The man abruptly stopped and looked over his shoulder in terror. The forest was thick with undergrowth and the moon seemed to amplify every shadow within it. For just a moment the man stood completely still to listen to the howls then he broke out into a full run once more.

The howls rang out closer this time.

Gasping for breath the man stumbled on blindly thru the darkened forest. From sweat blurred vision the man made out what looked to be a light source ahead. Wiping his eyes clear he looked again..blessings!!... it was a light.

Closer.

Paying no heed to the stinging underbrush the man crashed once again thru the forest. For what seemed an eternity the forest eventually gave way to a small clearing with what appeared to be a camp. Bursting from the forest the man fell to his knees at the camps edge.

Closer.

Pulling himself from the dirt the man's eyes settled on the startled woman sitting by the fire. Dusky skin, long legs and well fitting leather made his eyes appreciate her for a moment then his panic returned and he began to babble for help.

Closer.

Hearing the howls the Varisian woman jumped to her feet and ran to the man's side.
"What are you doing here?!?The forest is werewolf territory. Did you not know this?!?Come get to the fire!"
"Name is Darius..help..please.."

Closer.

Scrambling next to the fire Darius saw close to a dozen sets of eyes gleaming red from the firelight at the forest edge. The woman crouched next to him putting her hand on nearby knife. For a few moments nothing moved a muscle then slowly the eyes began to meld back into the forest.

And the howls moved away.

Some time after the pack left the Darius seemed to calm down and gather a bit of his wits about him. Heedless of the woman's questions he began to take in his surroundings. Once more the man eyed the woman as any man might. Smiling the woman introduced herself as Marisa. Offering Darius some food Marisa turned to gather some rations for him.

And the night was absent of any howls.

With a flurry of action Darius grabbed the woman's knife and drove it deep into her stomach.
"Yes i knew it was werewolf territory, but my master's will must be done.I thank you for your camp and supplies but i have no need of you my lovely.Your entrails on the other hand will come in very handy."

And the night was filled with gurgling of Marisa's pained last breaths.

Gently laying the woman on the ground Darius began to recite the familiar incantation he had performed so many times in the past. Removing a small pouch from his robe he closed his eyes and spoke.
"Master i have found it for you. Please accept it and this sacrifice. Glory unto you!"

And the chanting filled the night.

Spoiler:

"Thank you for the informantion, but i have no further need of you my..lovely. Your entrails on the other hand will come in very handy."
Darius looked down to meet Marisa's red glowing gaze.
" We were wondering what you were doing in our lands human."
Darius screamed and tried to rise only to be knocked to the ground.
Turning he stared in horror as Marisa's bones began to pop and her finger grew into long claws.

And Darius's screams filled the night.

A large shadow crept from the woods and approached the campsight. Looking to the remains then to Marisa the wolf's shape changed to that of a Varisian man.
"Cousin Marisa."
"Cousin."
"He talked?"
"Yes Cousin.
"Go then. Seek Lorrimor."
"Yes cousin. Give papa my love while im away"
"I will. Go with the packs blessings"

And the howls rang out into the night as Marisa made ready to leave.

A half lycanthrope ranger with family among the Princes Wolves.

I've been selected for another game so will withdraw my submission. Have fun, all, and thanks for giving us this chance, Mr. M.

TWINS! :D ... apparently I am easily amused today.

Yes, have fun!

Great! Thankies for choosing me!

good luck in the game all. Enjoy!

Have a great game, guys!

Thanks to you, GM, for your consideration.

Good luck and have fun guys

*Rides off towards the recruitment forums.*

Has fun!

Grand Lodge

Woohoo!!

Yes!

Glad to se you got in, Dav! I really liked that character but just didn't have the spot!

Our GM has disappeared- no news since a few weeks now!

So our team needs a new GM, if possible. Or a GM who'd like to start over the first adventure with the current team, as we didn't get very far...(we may need a new divine spellcaster, as our oracle seems to have left too)

Spoiler:
we're into the house of Prof. Lorrimor, just after the burial, waiting for the legal man who has to read the deceased's will

Well, if no other GM's step forward & you will have me, I would volunteer. My organizational skills are not the best, nor my ability to manipulate posts & links & such, so it will likely be another week before I would be able to re-commence. I will check back tomorrow & see if this meets with your approval.

I could likely jump in to fill that divine spot if you'd have me!

By divine do you mean healing Divine or simply a divine to round up the party?

Well, she was a divine healer (oracle of life), but I don't know. Make something nice, and we'll let you play with us! ;-)

Actually, I'm still here. So if this is going to restart I would still be interested in playing.

I have 'heard' no nay's. Do I then conclude the silence to be yea's?

YEA!

Let's go, bossman! Crack the whip!

Let us proceed then.

Glad to know you're still there, Cassandra! I do prefer to restart if needed with the whole team!

And if everyone agrees to DM Bleedsgreen, lets start this once again next week (or as soon as he can)

enjoy your game!

I'm ready to get things rolling again. We haven't really done anything yet, so we could pick things up at the will reading if we wanted to.

That was my intent. I will likely occupy myself this weekend becoming re-acquainting with the 1st part of the AP & also getting better acquainted with your Characters. Don't be surprised if you receive some PM's as well.
Given this is the first time I have tried assuming a Campaign another GM has left, I will need to contact the Paizo folks & request a switch-over.

Given that a PC has gone over 2 weeks with no posts, I am opening recruitment once again. A full divine caster is what we are looking for.

To repeat; I am opening a slot for one Divine Caster PC for Carrion Crown.

Grand Lodge

I have a Cleric of Shelyn who'd join up. Posting as his alias. I built him to try and join a PFS first steps, but got rejected. I can flesh him out and finish his sheet today if needed. I'm willing to tweak his backstory to give him a reason to get involved.

I have also read through the story thread sofar, so I have a sense of what's going on.

I'd be interested in this, but I need to read over your guidelines to see if I have someone who fits the bill. Posting soon.

Grand Lodge

Updated the Character a bit after reading the CCPG, Cleric of Pharasma now. Updated stat block in profile. Will update more as work allows.

Cedric is rather a easy going person. he is as much ready for for a good fight then a good diner.
Abandoned at an early age he doesn't know who his parents are or what his lineage is. He had to build himself up since a boy. Leaving the orphanage as soon as he was able to work (as per its policy), he rather roam the city and join a kids thief band. Acting as en enforcer for them he almost got away with the law. Up until the day one of his friends accidentally killed someone. Cedric tried as much s he could be he couldn't get his friend off the hook. Seeing the error of his ways his best friend had cedric promise him , before he hanged, to repay the debt he owed the old merchant for leaving his daughter all alone.

And so cedric left the gang, turning to mercenary work or anything that was legitimate as he promised that he would pay for the little girl's expenses. It has been a few years now and Cedric is still honoring the promise made to his friend as the girl is now a lovely and gentle teenager.
