Carrion Crown: Uneasy Lie the Dead [Recruitment]

Recruitment

51 to 100 of 170 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | next > last >>

Teodor's parents met when his mother was fleeing Galt. Prying upon the reasons for her travels was a serious family non-starter. But he grew up happy, and his parents did truly love each other. His life has never been ...simple. From birth strange things happened around and to him. This caused no small amount of speculation in superstitious Ustilov, but he never let it get to him.

He learned to cook at his mother's side. Her Galtan cuisine was perfect for the area ...peasant food elevated to high art. He had no special talent for cooking but he worked hard from the moment he could hold a spoon.

When he was about fifteen a local minor undead outbreak seemed curiously focused on him. He survived the encounter thanks to the good Professor's intervention. The Professor took Teodor in for a time to study the boy; clearly there was some magical connection he had with the dead.

Teodor never sought out the adventuring life, let alone that of undead hunter. But as he got older, more and more times he found his life twisted up with the undead. He has become what he is out of necessity; the undead are a plague that keeps him from the life he wants. If the strange whispers he hears in his dreams, or his great-great-great grandfather's greatsword that has started appearing in his hands, and his own set of cooking and knife skills can speed up the process of normalization, all the better.

I offer up my Undine cleric of Gorzeh, all of his info is in his alias let me know if I need to change anything up. He's an actor that grew up in a Varsian circus as the Typhoon lord!

Grand Lodge

I would like to add Tamarie Yangris(!) to the list.
She is half-elven ranger of the female persuasion. She is a huntress and a trapper, and usually wears a cloak to cover up her long ears. She is not shy and will not lie about her elven heritage, unless this will cause her to bite off more than she can chew.

She has a lot of experience dealing with animals, but since getting more work in Ustalav, she is starting to see why some people study humans better than animals.
She has been working for the professor regularly, and the respect went both ways. Lorrimor didn't patronize her despite her relaively young age, her gender, or her elven mother, and she learned a great many things while watching him 'work his magic'.

I posted with the alias I used for Pathfinder Society play, but if I get picked I'll add a very own Carrion Crown Tamarie :)
The slightly changed character sheet can be found in spoilers \/

Tyr is done and ready to slay the undead

I'd like to apply with Tamon Abe. Mechanically, he'd be a monk, but his story could lead him to be a ninja instead, if we needed rogue skills.

Tamon Abe's experience with the Professor, while every bit as influential as the other pallbearers', was not as positive. The Professor was visiting the elders of Tamon's monastery when he was new to his training. While there, the Professor caught him fighting with another boy who was not a member of the monastery. Tamon was afraid the Professor would tell the elders of his undisciplined behavior, and that he would be expelled, but the Professor instead offered him a deal. It would be their secret, but the Professor would call on him to repay the favor sometime in the future. Tamon never heard from him after he left the monastery, but the anticipation felt like a burden. He feared he would be called to perform some service that was beyond his capabilities. This anxiety infiltrated all aspects of his training and stunted his development. For eight years, he has lagged behind his brothers, and finally he receives the call. Though he is as poorly prepared as he possibly could be, he's surprised that the call has given him a new serenity. He travels to Ravengro with a courage he's never known before.

Alternately, if he is a ninja, after the Professor left, Tamon buckled under the anxiety of receiving the call. He was expelled from the monastery, and instead went to a less disciplined school that began teaching him the arts of the ninja.

Working on background. Should be finished later tonite.

If it matters at all, Yix will also pick up a few healing spells

Here's Davor... Half-orc Inquisitor of Pharasma.
His goal in life is to make the undead re-dead and make anyone turning the dead into undead join the re-dead undead as dead.
Ability scores and such may need to be tweaked since I rolled for the scores in another Carrion Crown recruitment thread.

Just FYI Digger Chandler isn't submitted to this group, he's just the default for the fellow who's submitting Teodor.

Appearance:
Jarik looks human for the most part, save for his eye and ears. The whites of his eyes glow with a faint white luminescence in the slightest darkness and his ears resemble bats wings in shape, though he has pierced them with multiple earrings to attempt to disguise the fact a little. Otherwise he is a normal young man, with a square jaw, dark wiry hair and a leanly muscled physique.

He has a fondness for loose soft clothing that flows with him as he moves, and generally wears his families blue and purple colors.

Personality:

Jarik is self deprecating, and often self loathing, feeling himself tainted and constantly questioning his own motivations. Perhaps because of this he is generally a kind and compassionate individual, who longs for the warmth of family and friendship he has never experienced. When it comes to unnatural creatures however, Jarik shows all of his families zeal seeking to expunge his own taint by protecting the people of Ustalav from such scourges.

He has a bad habit of falling hopelessly in love with women and acting the tongue tied fool around them. His normally eloquence vanishing as he finds himself stammering nonsense and blushing furiously. But he keeps trying longing to one day have a true loving family.

Background:
Allow me to introduce myself I am Jarik Thanderghast, latest son of House Thanderghast to take up the noble profession of Monster Hunter. I carry the taint of evil in my blood, but in equal measure the blood of valiant men and women who have long striven against the darkness. If I could cut my vile heritage from my flesh I would, but as it is I make use of it to protect the people of Ustalava as my father did before me.

My father Sir Varik Thanderghast was chosen by Iomedae, and served her for many years as a Paladin until he was slain defending a village from predation by the restless spawn of Tar-Baphon. I always longed to be chosen, but perhaps my faith was not strong enough, when my Mother died shortly after Father's death it shook my faith in the goddesses good graces, weak and selfish fool that I am. But I sought other means of facing off against the unnatural, Uncle Lyle sent me to study in Caliphas at fourteen where I attempted to become a wizard. But though scholarhood intrigued me I felt naked without a blade in my hand.

It was Professor Lorrimor, and old associate of my fathers who showed me the path of the Magus, to blend spell and sword to bring low evil. A great man. Though he was not suited to the path himself his learning was such that he was able to teach me the rudiments and over the course of his visit I was able to channel my first spell through my blade. I corresponded with him since, and it was always a pleasure to be able to confide in and learn from him. I only hope I can one day repay his kindness.

My family pursue darkness wherever it might be found. Grandmother runs the small estate on the outskirts of Caliphas, and oversees the vineyard and apple orchards that finance our war against the darkness. Uncle Lyle has lost an eye and an arm, having cut off the later to avoid being infected by a werewolf's bite, and Aunt Stenna is a devoted Priestess of Pharasma. For all that I respect them we are a cold family, concerned more with righting old wrongs than taking joy in one another's company. I used to have five cousins, but they all passed away, and only my younger sister, Ileesa - thankfully she shows no signs of the taint I evidence - remains to carry on the family name, and she is engaged to a fine young Lord from Lastwall, whom I have yet to meet.

The taint which is so evident in me, and my Grandmother, is a legacy of a deal my Great Great Grandfather made during The Shining Crusade. Promising to give his first born daughter to a Devil called Jaramal the Beseecher, in exchange for a blade that was a bane to the undead. Well past his prime, with no offspring my ancestor thought he only imperiled his own soul and was willing to sacrifice that to help fight Tar-Baphon and end his evil. The blade helped him distinguish himself and he was heralded as a hero. He took a baron maiden as a wife hoping to cheat Jaramal, but somehow she proved fertile and he bore a daughter. But Jaramal did not come to collect his debt, not until the girl was sixteen years old. He planted his seed in her and commanded that she bear his child saying that by doing so, and keeping the babe his debt would be paid. My family lives in constant fear of Jaramal's dark purpose. And my greatest fear is that some darkness within me could be the fruit of the devil's age old scheme.

I should note that my primary playing style will be more melee striker than spellcaster, at least initially.

I would like to present Iymkala, Changeling Paladin, for consideration. She should be fully prepared for the AP as-is, but if you have any questions/suggestions/recommendations, I am happy to hear them.

Thank you all of you for compiling and updating this list. Work has been a little busy as I prepare for vacation next week and I appreciate the help. Although I've been busy I have been following the thread at least a couple of times a day.

*steps into the room cautiously a trail of cinnamon scented smoke trailing from the cigar in his mouth*

I'd like to throw my name in the hat good sir if the picking still in the waiting.

ooc: the build is still from a previous campaign I was unable to play in should be updated later today.

Alrighty...background is done, just need to calculate encumberance numbers.

Now, we wait! Best of luck to everyone, as there are many very good submissions. I don't envy your job in deciding, Mr. Michaels!

Alrighty Alenthor is good to go.

A quick question is spending gold to upgrade my battered pistol allowed pre game or would you prefer I wait till we are started.

I'll lend my bow to the cause.

Just an FYI Thorgrund, et al. I'm not a big stickler on encumbrance. As long as you're not carrying something obviously heavy like, say, an anvil.

Hi GM, I just saw these posts after your original character guidelines. I'd ask you to reconsider on the Eastern-themed classes, mostly because I generally feel exactly the same way (and I'd add the Monk to the Ninja and Samurai). I've never felt like I could integrate an Eastern-themed class into the setup for any of the other APs without forcing it, but I felt that it was more natural with Carrion's Crown, since the PCs were all explicitly asked to travel to Ravengro.

Anyway, I'll keep my character applied as either a monk or ninja (if the party needs rogue skills). And if it helps, I don't presume Pathfinder ninjas run around in black pajamas.
