Any plans for "Tengus of Golarion"?

Pathfinder Player Companion

Grand Lodge

The tengu is the only PFS-allowed race not to receive its own Player's Companion book. Is there any talk about having one in the future? While there's good crunch in the ARG, and a little flavor there and in Dragon Empires, I would definitely like to see the full treatment via Player's Companion.

Silver Crusade

There was some talk on the boards of a "Blood of the Chicken" book, which would include Tengu, Strix, and maybe one other feathered race. So its possible.

I sure hope that's a working title ;)

They added lizard men (lizardfolk for the young 'uns) as a playable race in the ARG. That would get my money. Bipedal poultry not so much. ;-)

Rite Publishig has in the Company of Tengu which while not Golarion specific sure adds some fluff and crunch. (Most crunch is even on d20pfsrd) It's set in the Kaidan setting (Japanese fantasy horror) iirc.

Just wanted to point it out in case you weren't aware...

For a dislocated Tengu you could definitely use the fluff for his far away homeland.

I would prefer they call it, "Birds of a Feather..." :D

How about Weird Fetish Races of Golarion?

How about "Races with cloacae that reproduce by laying eggs of Golarion"?

But when will James Jacobs have time to write the dinosaur-race book?

Makes me wonder...are there dinosaur variety lizardfolk?

Dinosaurs and Lizards lay eggs as well!

Solid name.

With the new Companion format it could cover a few different bird topics. Tengu, strix, harpies. Some aerial combat rules. New items boyh magic and mundane equipment. Flying mounts. Advice for fighting flying creatures.

Harpies were already covered in "Mythical Monsters Revisited." But the book doesn't go into new harpy weapons and aerial combat maneuvers - that would be cool!

Which will be awesome as long as it's not "aerial combat maneuvers that only harpies can do."

(an unfortunate tendency of some books)

True that. Every time I see something like a feat or trait that increases bite damage that 'only orcs can take' when there's only umpteen bajillion races out there with oversized dentition (such as gnolls, goblins, kobolds, lizardfolk, some tieflings, etc.) who could just as readily benefit from it, I wonder why this same wheel has to be re-invented for every single race.

But that's really a problem, IMO, with 'prerequisite porn,' where a trait, feat, whatever is arbitrarily handed a bunch of prerequisites, as if the presence of a prerequisites line compels a designer to write a bunch of stuff there that has nothing to do with balance.

Given how many non-human races I have in my homebrew, I've long gotten into the habit of throwing those kinds of prerequisites out the window and allowing it for pretty much any race it makes sense for.

Hell, I'd allow it for an aasimar if you wanted a way to give them something visually defining agathion ancestry.
