Did anyone else get this yet? I've got mine and it's freaking cool, but I might be viewing it with Nostalgia-Vision (TM). It'd be good to get another opinion.
I did really like to see a stapled magazine with all that glorious old time layout. The miniatures in the articles look nicer then they used to. Some of the articles were nice reminiscence of days past. Seems really well put together. Plus more What’s New with Phil & Dixie is never bad in my book.
I was particularly interested in the Pathfinder Scaling feats. Think we'll start using those...

I got my copy last Friday, and I read it over the weekend.
Overall I did enjoy it, but felt like this first issue had several "Let me introduce myself, I'm a gamer of wealth and taste" articles. While some of these were fun to read, several of the main writers for the publication had articles that were basically touting their old-school cred, and talking about their history with/view of the game over time.
This is certainly understandable, but it feels like something that needed to be overcome so that we can move on to talking about the game itself, rather than how it relates to the magazine's writers. In other words, now that they've properly introduced themselves, I hope they will talk about the game as its own thing.
That said, it did have quite a few articles of substantive gaming goodness! I enjoyed the article on the eras of gaming as a cosmology (and I really, really want a full-color poster of the illustration in that article!), and Gnatdamp was an interesting town with an old-school feel to it. The Pathfinder article was useful, though I suspect my group will be too concerned with power-creep to use it.
Overall, it feels like a good first issue, and I look forward to the second!

Gygax issue #1 is also available in PDF form from DriveThru. I'm not sure why the TSR Games people haven't uploaded it here, but I gather they are slightly behind on issue #2.

I've gotten the impression that something might be in the works as far as selling Gygax magazine here on Paizo.com ... but I don't think the details are finalized and/or public yet ?
@Morgen - glad you like the Scaling Combat Feats! They worked really well in the various playtests - I'd love to hear how they work in your game!

We'll have to see how it goes. It's a quarterly publication so I don't think we'll be seeing #2 for months as is.
Hope that things are going well for them too as I've been looking for something to replace other magazines I had been buying from a certain company that did an equally good job on them all.
We shall see how they work. They sound about right but it'll take a few months to get the mileage out of them. ;)

Do they offer a subscription and do the have an option for a Print/PDF version of the subscription? The page is very much lacking any information.

I opted for a print/pdf subscription so the option is there somewhere.
Through who? The Mags web page mentions no such option.

Yeah, the website is crappola. I ordered the mag, and got the link to the pdf on Drivethru without doing anything else, so you must get both if you buy the mag. For $9 an issue, that seems fair.

Maybe when you buy the subscription you get the pdf for free? Yeah, the website is a little lean on info. I bought my sub on this page. Got my pdf over the weekend and the print copy just arrived today!

Exactly the same experience that I had; though I read on several blogs that several dudes got their mags on friday, so I cry thee FAVORITISM!!
Speaking seriously, it's a great first issue, I just hope the authors stop introducing themselves in #2 and get down to business. :)

Us ole farts get cranky some times<G>! Sounds like it is worth taking a gander at.
the general comment that the "old guys" are writing articles to show off there cred didn't come off that way at all to me. While I'm sure some of the originals do that form time to time, the article's came off like they were talking about the old days, most of the time fondly, although sometimes you could feel the barely held back hostility.
Anyway, I thought it was good. I havent read everything yet, but it was more of a "hey, tell me about the time when..." than a "I am so awesome, and this is why!"
For anyone who has gone to NTRPGCon, and actually talked to Dr. Dennis, or Tim Kask, or anyone else, it was much like those situations.
I will admit, for as nice a guy as he is, and such a gentleman, I am weirdly intimidated by Dennis Sustarre. Don't know why, he's never been anything but gracious to everyone I've seen. Even went out to dinner with him, in a big Frog group last year. Bizarre. I am a strange duck.

I ordered the subscription for $35/4 issues, Includes shipping. Got an email the other day, everyone who bought issue one got a free pdf, if you buy the subscription, you get free pdfs with each issue.
They had issues with the shipping on Issue 1. Overall, it is a good quality mag, nice paper, colors are bright, but not every page is color. Articles tend to be 1-2 pages. I enjoyed it overall. I didn't get into the hobby till after Dungeon/Dragon stop printing, so its nice to receive a gaming magazine in the mail.

Thanks everyone for the Feedback.
We are working on a redesign for the website that will be launching soon. It will also have info about the Fire Relief Fund for Ernie Gyagx and how you can help.
Store.Gygaxmagazine.com is where you can pick up a print copy. PDF is being sold through Drve Thru RPG.
As you know by now, when you buy a print issue that you also get a free PDF copy.
No info to release about Paizo, but I will let the crew know that is it wanted. We will do our best to get it to you.

I received my contributor copy of issue #1 over the weekend. I was extremely curious to check it out and I have to say, it really is a very nicely done magazine. It has an awesome, old school dragon feel, which I absolutely loved! BUT, the content is very current and well worth reading.
After having seen this first issue in print, I will be ponying up the cash for a subscription.
It's honestly too bad the magazine is not available here on Paizo so people can post actual reviews! I wonder what is keeping the magazine from being available here?
Anyway, really nice job with the first issue - I'm looking forward to seeing #2
