Falling damage

Rules Questions

Hi everyone, i need a clarification about how much falling damage takes a PC under the next situation

*A bridge over a river at 100ft
*The PC jump deliberatly into the water intendly to reduce the damage with acrobatics (What is the DC?)
*The water has 10ft deep

my calc is the next (please correct me if i'm wrong)

1)Jump 100ft (10d6)
2)deliberatly (-1d6 lethal +1d6 no lethal)
3)to the river( -2d6 lethal for the first 20' more 20' that are convert to no lethal -2d6 lethal +2d3 no lethal)
4)with acrobatics (-1d6 lethal +1d6 no lethal).

Summarizing 10d6 - 6d6 lethal +2d6 no lethal +2d3 no lethal

Result
4d6 lethal + 2d6 no lethal + 2d3 no lethal (Min: 4 lethal + 4 no lethal Prom: 18 lethal + 10 nolethal Max: 24 lethal + 18 nolethal)

While I'm not sure on the rules for falling into water, I would personally call that a swim check over an acrobatics check. "Tuck and roll" doesn't really help when hitting water, however skill with diving would.

At 100 feet there's not a whole lot of difference between diving into water and diving into concrete.

It does not work this way, no.

Falling into Water: Falls into water are handled somewhat differently. If the water is at least 10 feet deep, the first 20 feet of falling do no damage. The next 20 feet do nonlethal damage (1d3 per 10-foot increment). Beyond that, falling damage is lethal damage (1d6 per additional 10-foot increment).

Characters who deliberately dive into water take no damage on a successful DC 15 Swim check or DC 15 Acrobatics check, so long as the water is at least 10 feet deep for every 30 feet fallen. The DC of the check, however, increases by 5 for every 50 feet of the dive.

(Emphasis added.)

If the river is only 10' deep, he can't use the Acrobatics/deliberate dive portion to lessen the damage. The damage taken would be:

  • 0 for first 20' (water is at least 10' deep)
  • 2d3 nonlethal for next 20'
  • 6d6 lethal for last 60'

... for a total of 2d3 nonlethal + 6d6 lethal.

Sure there is, how much blood needs cleaned up after. :)

oh, i understood now
