One of the factions in my current novel proposes a science-based theology. Without going into it (which would probably attract unneeded commentary), I'd summarize to assert it seems internally consistent.

So I think it is possible to discuss some human interpretations of deity without treating exhaustively of personal and shared realities.

But except for the significance of religions to civilization it is out-of-ratio to concern ourselves with it, I admit.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Back on topic, didn't the devs mentioned something about forming a player council made by representatives of the player community that they would consult on a regular basis in a similar way that the EVE community already has such a group?

An old friend was writing a sci-fi book about a future in which the main characters built several devices and weapons that allowed them to invade heaven and hell, and to eventually imprison God so as to use Him for the betterment of humanity. I know that they succeeded, at least at first, but don't know what happened from there.

I went to a Richard Dawkins talk with him on campus. It was eerie how similar it was to a preacher whipping up a congregation with righteous indignance towards 'sinners'.

Science is science. Religion is religion. Most attempts to make the two interact are foolish and result in something that is the worst of both.

All praise Nihimon the Omniscient. 'Nuff said.

Marketing knows how effective evangelical methods are for most people.

When you notice unusual behavior in a specific segment of human population it is often an indication of external influence. Humans are normally individuals. When they behave unusually, as homogenous groups, try and notice who has been 'preaching' at them.

Exactly. Both the self-righteous preacher and the self-righteous atheist used the same tactics to categorize and then belittle those that don't agree with them. Silly foolishness.

I can only recall one thread EVER being locked on this forum and since that's all I see CMs doing on other forums I don't think we need one YET.

I divine Rafkin is attempting to provide a hint... Answer is fuzzy: try again!

If ever a thread needed to go off-topic, this is the one :)

Ha! He's trying to divert attention away from himself! He's clearly under-cover!!!1!!one

Nonono! See, Nihimon would use his thread-locking prowess for GOOD! Yes, he would only lock threads after posting a link to the other threads dealing with the same topic (this could be useful for the new Swimming/Flying thread, for instance).

It was me!
