Cleric with Ring of Invisibility

Advice

Hello all. I'm currently playing a cleric of Pharasma with emphasis on healing/buffing/support in a Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign. We just hit 8th level and I have an unpicked feat still. I am considering taking Forge Ring and making myself a handy ring of invisibility. But am I reading it wrong or would that just be ridiculously powerful? I can be invisible while channelling positive energy, casting cure spells, casting prayer, bless, Blesing of Fervor, etc. None of these actions knock me out of invisibility. Does that sound too powerful? Would that tick you off if you were my dm? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you are the rare player that actually has fun being a heal/aura bot. I don't think anyone will mind you being invisible.

Don't forget to Shield Other so you get more mileage out of your channels if you do go invisible.

Good advice. Thank you very much! And yeah I melee some but I know my role and I embrace it wholeheartedly. I understand why most people don't though: 1.) You rarely feel uber powerful when you're not actually dealing any damage while your barbarian buddy gets to do all the rampaging and decapitating and 2.) It happens all too often that all your buffing and healing gets taken for granted. I already see it some in this campaign. it's annoying but Total Party Kill is even more so. :)

Yes. Do it. An invisible Cleric or an invisible summoning wizard can be a hell of a help to a party (or a fantastic enemy).

BTW, I LOVE playing heal/aura bots. Clerics rock.

Silver Crusade

Sounds like a great idea. Two cautions, however:

1. Harming undead with channel positive energy will cause you to become visible.
2. A lot of monsters at that level have workarounds for invisibility.

Sovereign Court

If I were you, I'd buy the ring if possible. Item crafting feats aren't really worth it unless you intend to get at least a few uses out of them, and Forge Ring is (sad to say) one of the worst.

I don't know a lot of GMs who would complain about an invisible buffing cleric. I'm not sure it's worth spending a feat on though.

Thanks, and yeah I know about harming undead. And I know high level stuff will have see invis, and I know it could be a wasted feat, but I plan on adding protection +1 to this ring later and so on.

Also the invis is -obviously- good for more than combat. :) I'm wearing full plate and have actually been able to bring my acrobatics and stealth above zero. So adding +20 to my stealth could be fun too (when moving) and partnering up with our sneaky inquisitor.

Now I just need Goggles of Night...

Edit: And thanks to everyone for your advice and opinions!

Frankly it won't be a wasted feat as long as you keep making rings. You could potentially do it for the whole party.

The thing about rings is that you're likely to find the ones you want in loot. Craft Wondrous and Craft MAaA are better because those things tend to be more "customized" so you won't find the right one as often in your loot.

That's definitely the plan. Our dm's being nice enough to interpet the 1,000 gp value per day time to craft and allow me to craft one item per player character at the same time. So if I had 40,000 gold I could make 4 rings in invis in a 10 day period.

And to Rumpin' Rufus: I actually already have craft wondrous item as well. Not Craft Arms and Armor yet. I plan to get as much mileage out of these feats as possible. I've never had any of them before. :)

I think these feats adds a whole new level of "Support" to my support class.
