New Ideas for Mythic Adventures Playtest

Mythic Adventures Playtest General Discussion

I liked a good bit of what I saw in the book, particularly in regards to the mythic versions of 'normal' creatures. However, I did feel there was a few things missing. While the mythic paths that characters take do give them extra abilities that may help them take on stronger opponents, there was no rules for going beyond level 20 included. While it may just be my personal opinion, I feel that the playtest would benefit from ideas for going beyond level 20 in both core classes (Witch's gaining Guise of the Master at a new level, getting several unique abilities and an altered appearance based on their patron's theme, for example,) and prestige classes (Such as Pathfinder Chronicler's gaining the ability at a new levels to become a Decimvirate, which grants immunity to divination effects while they wear a special mask they gained as their initiation,). Also, I hope there are new creatures, because while I LOVE the new amped up versions of old monsters, I hope there are new monsters that are reminiscent of the Epic Level Handbook. If anyone working on the book reads this, I hope you implement these ideas. And to anyone else that has an idea for the Mythic Playtest, post under this thread and hopefully your ideas for the book will be implemented.

I think what you are asking for isn't mythic, but rather epic, which are too different things, the latter of which Paizo isn't trying to do.

True. Perhaps it is just my personal desire for ultra high level adventuring that colored my view on it. As a GM, I see that once players hit level 20 and do a few high level adventures (About 10-15,) and gain an artifact or two, that they become REALLY restless in regards to new abilities and levels. I've homebrewed up a system for epic levels, but really want an official version, particularly one showing the level of awesomeness that the Pathfinder authors are capable of. So yes, I suppose I just misunderstood the premise of the whole Mythic concept. In any case, as long as the final product shows the level of quality they regularly produce, I'll purchase the book, regardless of personal desires for where it could have gone.

well one option that people have discussed is to just have character start getting mythic ranks after they hit 20....and use the 10 tiers of mythic as epic levels

Hmmm, that does seem appealing. I will probably run the idea by my players and see if they like it better than the current system. If they do, which threads contain these discussions?

Liberty's Edge

I'd be careful about that...the Mythic tiers don't keep up on attack bonus, saves, or HP. It could work, but it depends a lot on the players, and how optimized their characters are.
