Long time since I played PFS - help me out a little?

Pathfinder Society

Liberty's Edge

Hello all,

I played this character (a Human Paladin of Shelyn) way back in 2009 at GenConOz, where I got enough XP to level up to 3 and, according to the sessions attached to her, something like 8 PP. I haven't paid ANY attention to PFS since, though, since I haven't had an opportunity to play PFS for quite some time...

So I have a few questions.

1. Is this character still valid for play, even though I haven't even looked at her for over 3 years? To give some context, this was shortly after the Pathfinder RPG released, and before the Bestiary 1 had released. I fondly remember Jason showing us a printer's copy of Bestiary 1 and a bunch of us Aussies ogling the art :)

2. I THINK I know where my chronicles and character sheets are, but I'm not 100% sure on this. If I can't find my sheets, would it be 'kosher' to attempt to recreate her character stats? I remember a few things about her, but not a lot.

3. So I made this character to be in the Andoran faction because that was the only one that really suited a Paladin at the time, but I think she'd do better as part of the Tian Xia faction as she's from Minkai in her backstory. How do I go about changing factions... can I, even?

4. After all this time, would it be better for me to simply recreate the character from scratch instead? Glancing through the PFS guide, it looks like there's been a WHOOOOLE lot of changes since I last played, after all. Even if I find my old character sheets I suspect I'll have some work updating her...

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes it is still valid for play! Assuming of course everything is legal with the character.

2. You should find your chronicle sheets and Pathfinder society number. If you cannot find them, contact the Venture Captain of your area and ask for assistance.

3. You can change factions! It will of course cost you some prestige per level, which is sad, but over the course of a character's life isn't devastating. Before you do this check the next answer for #4.

4. Before playing, changing factions, or whatever else you might want to do with the character you should look at the new PFS Guide and see what has changed. You can of course create a new character, but rebuilding your character is only legal before you level up to level 2... there are instructions in the guide about this, I am of course assuming you can find the character sheet for your character.

In addition, WELCOME BACK!

Technically, if you never played him/her as a level 2 character, you still qualify to rebuild anything about her thanks to the newish level 1 retrain rules. Including faction without penalty.

Since it looks like you got to lvl 3, the procedure to change factions is detailed in the guide.

Thanks Steven!

I found my Chronicles sheets and one half of my rather dog-eared character sheet... the back half with my gear and feats and traits. Front page is still MIA, but it's not a total loss so far at least. I have my PFS number as well.

I'll have another look back in the big stack of notes I found these in to see if I can locate the front page of my character sheet. If I can't find it, what do you think I should do?

The main thing is your chronicle sheets.

For your character sheet, it is on the honor system. Simply recreate your original character to the best of your ability.

Welcome back fellow Minkai-jin Paladin (I thought I had the only one).

I point out one experience I've had on this. I had a character die two points away from enough prestige to raise dead. However, the character was popular enough that people came up to me and asked me to bring her back. After some thought, I started a new character under a different number of the same class. I gave her the same name and personality. The backstory was that she was found by some druids in the area who knew her (she happened to die near the area I had designated as her home), and reincarnated her. She still started as a first level character with 0 prestige under a different number, but I kept the spirit of the character alive.

There is no reason if you cannot find the sheets, you cannot do something similar if you're so inclined.

*bows* Greetings, fellow Minkai-jin!

When I introduced my character back at the convention, most people hadn't even HEARD of Minkai. I mostly just described myself as being from "the distant Asian continent" :) I'm glad Tian Xia now has a representation in Pathfinder Society!

By the way, I love your idea for a reincarnation (especially apt for one from Tian Xia!) but I think I'd rather just attempt to reconstruct my character at level 3. My last chronicle sheet says she just got a swanky +1 full plate... it would be a shame to lose that. :P

Decided to try and rebuild her, in the end. It seems like I hadn't levelled her up, judging by the back page of the sheet... no mention of the 3rd level paladin abilities. Unfortunately, it looks like I can't afford to change factions if I'm level 3. I'm 1 PP off. *sigh*

Thanks for all your help everyone.
