I was surprised when I took the latest copy of the Guide to Organized Play into my local Kinko's and they refused to print it. I'm OCD, and a perfectionist, and before going to Dundracon I wanted to have a prettied up, printed and bound copy of the guide. We're required to have this in print, yes? What do I need to show them that it's okay?

Showing them this FAQ entry should solve the problem unless the employee is particularly unmotivated to help you. (In that case, try a different employee.)

(And you don't need to have it *in print*... you just need to have it.)

Sweet, thanks.

I do have a copy on my phone. They wouldn't even quote me a price. Depending on how expensive it is I might just stick with my phone, but I'm one of those old school gamers that likes things in print =).

:(

I'm sorry that happened to you. You should have the right to have your PDFs printed, according to the faq above. :)

Even with that right, a private establishment can refuse service.

If they do, well, clearly they don't want your business. Take it to their competitors.

I've never heard of a business refusing to print a single copy of a Paizo PDF that was legally bought. Does this happen to others?

I have had issues all the way back to the pathfinder beta. Typically though they unclench when you point out that its watermarked with YOUR name and email

Yes. See the following thread...

Staples refused to print out a free PDF I downloaded.

I had the Kinkos inside of a hotel refuse to print the single page inside of the Player Character Folio. The one just inside of the front that's slick and shiny and not good for writing things on like saves and hit points.

Yai. I'll keep it in mind to have the FAQ entry with me when I go to get stuff printed.

Most print shops just look that my name is watermarked on the document and check for permission to make a copy for non-commercial purposes, but I have occasionally run into some problems: A local print shop refused to print a copy of The Jester's Fraud for me.

I thought that was a bit overcautious, especially since I'm the scenario's author.

We have all of our scenarios printed at our local Staples. The have never questioned it and they always turn out great. Black and white, duplexed, without binding costs about $2.50 to $3 a scenario.
