I don't gun for individuals either, but unless the guy's keeping way out of the way (which is a valid tactic) he's gonna get smacked eventually.

Mindless undead might go for the meat shield every time, but the more intelligent ones are occasionally gonna go after the tender looking morsel that's conjuring up all the booga-booga.

My Summoner got Ghast'd (and almost coup de graced) last session because the rest of the party accidentally left a lane open straight to him after the Druid used Frost Fall on them (they needed to get OUT of the area). I don't think that's gunning for a specific PC.

Nah, that's your PCs giving you an opening.

Individual enemies were usually kept busy by the eidolon, which ended up being a large serpent with an obscene CMB. Constrict? Is mean.

The summoner was very good at running and hiding. And the inquisitor knew that if the summoner went down then the snake would go down too so she was very willing to get in the way.

The summoner did end up getting Ghouled hard, ended the game deep in the throes of ghoul fever, but by that time...

So far I think CC have been too reasy for my players. The fight in BM with Adrimaius (the antipaladin werewolf) was so disappointing for me. I buffed his ac to 28 and it didn't mean much since the PC's have too much control.
I am just glad they don't have a summoner since that Eidolon is so broken after level 8 or 9 (whenever they can get large and a Falchion)

Going farward I will start to change and buff most of the encounters. The dominate part in Ashes might be a big problem since almost is a safe-or-die.
Besides that, I think you, Mr. Sloth, once more have a good point. The AP really wants to be a horror game and I really try to make it one. My PC's problem with that (besides not doing what I want all the time) is that the easy encounters break the tension. I had a really good moment at the start of Broken moon where they went hunting with Duristan.´When the Wolves came the surrounded the PC's and stood outside the light and growled for a long time while I played http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojLia2AXVug.
That really set the mood for a good fight.

Today marks the beginning of the career of a Barbarian damaged down to 6 Con.

This should be interesting (well at least for one session before they can get someone to cast Lesser Restoration on them).

That barbarian will need more than one lesser restoration to patch up that mangled Constitution score. Plenty of rest, some good old fashioned rolls in the hay with a "healer of Calistria" and he'll be good to go methinks. ;-)

He'll get an 80 year old Pharsman priest and he'll like it, so there. =p

Today was a bad day all around for the party. Especially the Cleric/Alchemist (my GMPC).

Spoiler:
We get to Schloss Caromarc and the Eidolon rolls Perception to check for traps on the main gate. I hold in a chortle as he rolls a 30.

Of course, they didn't ask for someone to roll as well, so my character is sent in to get his Disable Device on, whereupon he is grabbed by the Air Elemental and almost chucked off the bridge (everyone else managed to kill it before it got him).

Then the Erinyes happened, and as my logic goes a "hatred for holy symbols" pretty much means the Cleric has a big red target on his chest. Cleric falls off the bridge trying to run back (hilariously, even the Fighter/Barbarian in Full Plate makes it with a -2) and casts Feather Fall on himself. So now he's a slowly floating, HELPLESS target and he gets pincushioned down to 1 HP before he promptly lands in the after and starts sinking and getting swept downstream at 80 feet per round.

Only reason any of 'em survived was because I made a snap judgement that, for this time at least, RAW (as far as I could tell) trumped RAI and the Eidolon could bring people back with him using Maker's Call if he grabbed ahold of 'em. Figured it was a neat ability and wasn't OP (and warned the Summoner not to overuse it).

Pissed of Cleralchemist then hits the Erinyes in the face with a Dispelling Bomb (after failing a first dispel), though by this point the nasty bastard had brought everyone into critical condition.

Plus side: Comfy beds nearby, and the Cleric had JUUUUUST enough spells to heal everyone up to full (except the Summoner who's still missing 2 HP).

Fun encounter though I seriously thought they were gonna get slaughtered. Players loved it even though they thought they didn't have a chance after seeing what it could do.

On a side note reading back it looks like a lot of focus is on the GMPC, which makes me look kinda bad, but this was pretty much the only thing he'd done besides heal and chuck bombs at mooks in like 4 sessions, and Maudril (the Summoner) is the one who came out lookin' like a hero to everyone else for saving their heal dispenser so I think it worked out fine.

Scarab Sages

We have a Dhampir Crusader (BonS)
Human Witch
Huamn Rogue
Human Inquisitor
and a Gnome Alchemist

I admit that I am starting to fall in love with dispel bombs. They have saved our asses from a tpk at least 3 times.

Thank you gnome!
