Perhaps, but people do manage it every year. And there is the ability to search. The judges, and community members like myself, will be digging into your items soon enough. ;)

Liberty's Edge Star Voter Season 6

I do wish they would post the rest of the top 90, since that was for all intents and purposes the final voting pool.

In no order, I see no harm.

Sean has already said he is going to do some analysis on some of the almost runners like he did last year, so I am sure that in due course you will see some more of those items in that band.

I can't make promises for how many I'd get to, but I'm happy to offer feedback for any item an entrant posts. Fair warning - I'm a big fan of tellung like it is. So I won't be abrasive, but I won't spend ten minutes and fifty words to dance around "your formatting is really bad".

But...that's the feedback that helps me get better. So if you want a review, I'm happy to help while I'm polishing the shine on tbese two monsters. :b

I will probably be active in the feedback requests too - but the winners come first of course.

Some of you might get short - "see xyz, it's the same problem" type of feedback - especially as the feedback burn sets in, but I will try to get through as many as I can and I will make an effort to be specific to each item I review - heck, I have all year to work through them if necessary.

So don't worry too much about how many get listed in the request thread, I will get through as many as humanly possible, it just may take some time.

I tend to agree. We could all go flood the homebrew forum, but it just wouldn't be seen in the same context. Not to mention none of the judges would provide any feed back there most likely. One giant thread is much harder to navigate.

You could always start a new thread in homebrew and post a link in the critique my item thread. It wouldn't be perfect but it might work.

Actually, a neat idea with only one flaw - someone PMed me with a request to critique their item privately. That's probably a great idea, suffering only because other people can't learn from feedback offered on your item.

I'll answer any of those I get...as long as folk are willing to wait until I'm not doing insurance/future rounds/getting ready for India. : b

Eh...I don't sleep much. That's time I could spend studying my Sunday school lesson, designing for games, or painting Khemri Tomb Kings.

Due to an unfortunate Christmas Eve hard drive crash, my item submission file (and quite a few other important documents) were lost. I would still like to post my item on the forum and get some feedback from what people remember. I enjoy criticism (especially harsh critics) and am quick to learn from them.

Thanks to all who participated and voted. I can't wait to be able to tell the rest of you what I liked/didn't like about your individual items.

Kris, I know several people were saving copies of all of the items they came across. If you ask around, you will very likely be able to find someone with a copy. No promises, but you can try. :)

To follow up what she-bob said, it's likely I have your item somewhere in my files, if you want it back for your own use and critique posting. Give me the name and I'll see if it's here. Heck, since it sounds like you lost it through no fault of your own instead of just neglecting to save it, I'll even spare you my 'how can you not save your items!' rant.

Thanks Sean. I will have to look into Google drive as a second free backup program. By dropbox is full to the brim with my scientific research. Would be nice to have my RPG files and PDFs backed up online too.

My item was the Paint of Discerning Demise. I have already gotten a bit of feedback from it (I now know people hate items that can be considered Plot Devices) but would like to get more. If you still happen to have it on file, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks again Sean.

Honestly, if you use a lot of space, a bigger dropbox isn't the worst investment in the world. I use mine all the time, both for work and for writing.

Also, it's kinda nice to hear "I lost my backup due to a hard drive fail" instead of the "I never kept my item in the first place" we see every year. ;)

I upgraded to 100gb for Google Drive for $5 a month. It is super worth it.

I just finished a PBP and it dawned on me that the campaign page might make for a useful way to run this. Contestants put their item in the recruitment thread. Responses go in Discussion or Gameplay threads. Maybe use one for judges and the other for peers, or one for odd entries and the other for even, or one for critiques and the other for response. They stay linked, but no one area would become massive (relatively).

Maybe the idea will sound better/foolish in the morning :)

Would it be feasible at all to do this off-site? Obviously you wouldn't be getting an in depth analysis from any of the judges in this case, but it might be easier to organize things for those that are intersted in providing feedback.

As a frequent Redditor, I think creating a sub-reddit for this would work great. People create a thread for their item, comments are critiques, and people who read the comments can up/down vote specific comments to lend weight to those which they feel are most accurate.

This would obviously require people to be somewhat familiar with Reddit though, and to navigate away from the paizo forums, which I'm not entirely sure would be ideal.

This would be likely to violate Paizo's ownership of entries if the actual bodies of the entry were copied off-site. I'm not familiar with Reddit, but possibly if everybody were careful to limit their thread to a link to here.

Really, Redditing and Google Docs are very awkward workarounds at best. I'd really like to see a dedicated subforum next year - I honestly can't see what the trouble would be, and I think the value would be tremendous.

Surprisingly, since I originally liked the idea a lot, I think I may have turned against the idea of a sub-forum.

Trying to review every item would I think be a LOT more difficult if I had to open up a couple hundred threads (sadly, I'm not tracking how many reviews I'm doing any more than I did how many items I saw). As is, I can just go through the one thread page by page and now I'm not going to miss one.

Now, I'll admit my item's name is also really easy to search for so I've been able to find all the critiques for it easily, but I've been surprised how well I feel like its' working in general.

It is a little harder to have some back and forth, but I've gotten a few PMs for people with questions (or just thanks/comments) for me and I've tried to reply immediately to points that have been raised beyond just posting new items.

i really like GM_Solspiral's idea- starting a review thread. if they did do a sub-forum next year the best approach might be to have one thread for all the critique requests and then each serious reviewer could open their own thread, maybe with one more for casual reviewers...

I hadn't thought of that.

I don't get a lot of large chunks of uninterrupted time, and while I'd love to provide feedback, I've found its really tough to do just keeping up with pages and pages in a single thread!
