I'm playing a werewolf in a campaign in a few months. He's going to have a love interest who is a kitsune. The thought crossed my mind: what would happen if a kitsune was bitten by a werewolf? Would anything happen? Or would it be a weird fox/wolf hybrid?

Well, a Werewolf is a type of Lycanthrope, and the Lycanthrope template can be applied to any humanoid creature. Kitsune are humanoids, therefore they can become infected with lycanthropy.

Or to put it another way: Werewolves don't have to be human. They could be anything from a hobbit to an orc. And Kitsune don't have any special immunity to the curse, so they can be infected just like anyone else.

Now, how the werewolf hybrid form interacts with the Kitsune hybrid form is an interesting question, and probably up to the GM. But to me, it seems reasonable to assume everything would stack, and you'd have a fox-y hybrid humanoid wolf...thing. yeah...

Sounds like a fun game, though! :-)

Thanks. :) we're going back in time and running Rise of the Runelords. We played Jade Regent last year and are running Shattered Star right now. We thought it would be cool to go back and see where our other characters were then.

My character for RotR is Nikolai Vassly. He was born a wolf in the forests of Ustalav. He's hiding in Varisia from his crazed siblings and ends up on Sandpoint just in time for the adventure to begin.
