Shieldmate: can I add those not involved in the kickstarter?

i have a few friends i'm trying to bully into playing the game, can i add one of them as a shieldmate even though they missed the kickstarter?

I have the same question, i.e. will my buddy have to wait for open enrollment before he can make an account to link with mine ?

I believe that was answered on the kickstarter page entry about the shieldmate with a resounding no in the form of "Invite a friend to the Kickstarter," in other words they had to have made a kickstarter pledge themselves.

I believe you will be able to invite any other player to be your Shieldmate, regardless of whether or not they were part of the Kickstarter.

Still seems like its kickstarter based, the buddy and guild examples there are all from the same pledge. how ever as it said pathfinder not not kickstarter account I am clearly wrong

so next question is when do we get to select our shield mate?

Since the invitation is issued by one Pathfinder Online Account, and accepted by another, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole process happens inside the game. That is, you have to be in-game to send the invitation, and the other player has to be in-game to accept it.

To clarify i am talking about after open enrollment when they are able to play. Not as a way to get them into the beta

if it strictly based off pathfinder acount like nihimon said then you should be able to invite them at any time you choose.

Did we ever get a clear, definitive answer on this? E.g.: If a crowdforger buddy who (obviously) participated in the kickstarter invites a friend who did not participate, and he/she buys the $100 package - can this friend gain the shieldmate bonus AND participate in the 1st month of Early Enrollment?

EDIT: Am I even thinking of Shieldmate correctly? Does it even provide the shieldmate friend with 1st month access anyway?
