In our group it's a joke that Thassilonian is modern day English with a different alphabet. This is mostly because of the word puzzles in Part 1.
Yeah... and that's the 2nd best reason why word puzzles don't belong in tabletop RPGs. (The 1st best reason is that word puzzles are really complicated to translate into other languages.)
I went back and forth a lot about whether or not to include real words in those puzzles, and in the end just barely decided in favor of including them because those types of puzzles ARE appreciated by some groups, but I left the alternate methods in there for those groups who are annoyed by them for the many great reasons there exist to be annoyed by them.
Probably won't do more of these types of puzzles in the future. Probably not even if this post causes an uprise of posts defending and praising the word puzzle in RPGs.
IN ANY EVENT:
Thassilonian is not "based" on English.
It's an evolution from Azlanti, which would itself be most closely related to the mythical language spoken in Atlantas. So really, there is no real-world analog for Thassilonian.

also, the word for Puzzle in spanish is ACERTIJO (I-Cer-teh-joh)
in italian INDOVINELLO
in Francais ÉNIGME
