Any Shieldmate positions still not taken from near the beginning of the KS? I joined at the Pioneer level, but only in the last three days. I joined the KS cause I want to see this game made, not for the daily deals, but would be cool to have the shieldmate benefits when PFO goes live. Impossible to predict available play time 1.5 years out, so not even gonna try.

When do you declare your shieldmate? Im using mine from my buddy account for my kids but one of them will not be an active account till its open for everyone I think. I got the buddy and and adventure level account. Will I loose them if I don't declare them right away?
I would assume they follow the same system as mentioned below by Ryan.
Buddy and Guild rewards include multiple accounts (2x and 6x). You'll be able to allocate those accounts after the Kickstarter ends (and you'll have all the time you need, there's no rush). Accounts will link together with an offer/acceptance mechanism to grant the Shieldmate Mark.

Shieldmates just share daily deals?Shieldmates share daily deals and get the shieldmate mark, which provides a bonus in combat for any group with multiple people with that mark. So it doesn't matter if you never play with your Shieldmate, it's still a good idea to have one.
Actually I thought it was ... "a bonus in combat for any characters with the Shieldmate mark in a group with multiple people with that mark".

I'm not seeing the distinction you're trying to make. Your explanation sounds functionally the same as Capitalocracy's.

I would like to have a shieldmate, though I don't trully understand how it works. I pledged as a pioneer so I may be able to have a shieldmate right?
You cannot actually pledge the shieldmate yet, though many people are organising who they wish to match up with well beforehand.
My guild "Keepers of the Circle" is using a spreadsheet to track which members need a shield-mate and how to best optimize the pairings. I suspect most bigger/organized chartered companies will be doing the same.
If you decide to join a chartered company ( I suggest the Keepers of course) ask them about shield-mates. Otherwise you probably need to post on here saying you need one.
There is no rush you have a year and a half to decide I believe.

My CC will be focused on professional adventuring/mercenary work for the right cause and price. Then eventually the establishment of a settlement with the focus on training people to be the best they can be in whatever field they desire. And to help guide them along that path and to provide a land where people can meet on neutral ground to discuss various matters and deals.

I wonder if your idea would turn out to be a LN settlement. All of the opportunities for the best training facilities and, perhaps, a neutral stance on world affairs? Or do you mean safe to meet and discuss issues but active in world politics?

I plan for it to be LN or TN and as far as world affairs we would like to be involved in them to an extent in the sense that we want to try and help keep peace or keep the lines of communication open amongst the various lands and peoples of the River-kingdoms. So yeah safe to meet and discuss world events and affairs and for those active in those affairs to come together and talk and make deals without worrying about being attacked. Also we will offer asylum and membership to all races and classes.

It's not that I expect any of the Daily Deals to be OP or anything... but for the sake for flavor for a character, i desperately want to get my hands on the Wrap of Shadows(date: 1-09). Would anybody that got access to it be willing to shield mate with me? (wow, i just pictured shields mating. awkward.)

Good evening everyone! I joined the kickstarter on Jan. 14th & I am interested in receiving a shield mate from someone who has all the daily deals. No biggie if not, but it'd be very nice as it's about the only thing I'm kicking myself for not being informed enough to support PFO earlier on in the kickstarter projcet. I am excited to be a part of this community & that I had the opportunity to support Goblinworks at the Crowdforger Pioneer level! Thanks in advance for any answers to my humble request...back to reading my Pathfinder RPG core rule book :) Thanks Paizo!!

Thank you! I've been scouring the message boards for a few days feeling "left out" when all I needed to do was stop being lazy/shy & just jump into the the community fray. I tend to read through the different conversations/topics more to hear the varied perspectives people bring to the table...perhaps I'll find my opinion/view in the coming days and/or weeks :)

@Athno I know what you mean. I read and digested quite a bit before I jumped in. So many great ideas for an MMO that I have always wished for!
Don't be shy and don't be, in anyway, intimidated by the sheer volume of the information. When you see something that sparks your interest, get in there and duke it out. ;)
