Do Golarion Androids dream of Sorcerous sheep?

Rules Questions

So, I have bought and perused the "Monsters of Inner Sea" and within its pages are described the created machines known as 'Androids'.

Without wanting to reprint too much and give anything Paizo copyrighted away, though I must say I do like the stats/creature write up/Stat block etc.

They are listed as 'Constructs' but also as Medium Humanoids.

Now, as they are 'manufactured' and yet can learn and advance in class levels, I came to thinking about the class of Sorcerer.

Sorcerers are depicted as being 'intrinsically' magical and the Blood lines' seem to bolster this.

So...my question is (And yes I know there is a penalty built into the Android 'stats') could an Android invoke/cast Socerous powers?

Thoughts? Feed back? Comments?

Grand Lodge

By RAW, yes.

Even full on constructs can take levels in Sorcerer.

Silver Crusade

Yep, they can be sorcerers! And a discussion on the myriad number of ways they can wind up with bloodlines can be found here.

Also, note that Androids actually have the Constructed trait rather than being full-on Constructs. This means they default as having souls and are also perfectly raisable, in case that question comes up for your table! :)

Wait, if they are androids, is it a male only race?

If they're androgynoids you get to pick one of four genders: Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Tilda Swinton, or Cillian Murphy.

Why not just use the correct term and call them droids if there is an option? :P

aww, somebody remembered :)

Android is simply an Artificial Human it doesn't come with a built in Gender.

And as has been pointed out there have been multiple threads on this topic.

Sorry to have bothered people

Because the Lich that is Walt Disney will come and take your soul (or all your wealth).

Raja: "A walking doll?"
Wren: "The correct term is 'android'."
Raja: "An-droid, The-droid, whatever."

Bonus points if you know the source of the quote.

Hmmm... inspiring me...

Android Master Summoner

BTW BBT: Your Dervish Dancer might want to avoid the Bard as the Android loses the ability to receive ALL morale bonuses.

It's one of the archetypes that provide very little morale bonuses.

Unless there is one that provides less that I missed?

Doesn't the Bard Archetype's main change to Performances is that the Morale bonus Applies to you but is increased or something?

Grand Lodge

Inspire Courage is competence(but bonus to saves is morale), Inspire Greatness is competence, Inspire Heroics is morale(but just the bonus to saves).

None of the Dervish Dancer's abilities provide morale bonuses.

Hmm, Interesting...

This is an aside, but the battle dance is in addition to normal bardic performance, not replacing it.

IIRC: One of the Archetypes adds the option. The other removes Performances. There are 2 Archetypes IIRC...

Android Paladin (Preferably Holy Gun): Uphold the Law, Defend the Innocent, and Serve the Public Trust (or just Explore, Report and Co-operate).

Grand Lodge

Well, my Android Dervish Dancer is vaguely based off Drossel von Flügel from the Disney Fireball show.

Holy Gun... Ugh... But strangely it kinda fits with the Android...

Robocop.

I was thinking of playing an android spellcaster. I was either gonna roll it in his backstory that he either has a protocol which allows him to delve in the raw essence of magic to utilize it or have each spell be an previously installed subsystem. Scorching ray becomes "activate laser cannon." Etc etc etc. As he levels he learns how to activate more of these protocols.

An android bard would be like Bender trying to be a cook. He'd be able to do it, but since he isn't able to taste the music, it'll be terrible.

Listeners would be motivated to end the combat/task faster just to get him finish?

On the other hand androids have better than human senses and might have sense of mathematical harmony more advanced than humans.

On the Bard: Why did I think of the way the Interax(Spelling?), from the WH40K Horus Heresy books, communicate?

Interex. Quite good idea for androids - using music as an integral part of communication, thus increasing information width of communication channel when comparing to purely vocal speech.

Spoiler:
Two hours spent reading WH40k wiki just because I had to check the spelling... Damned hyperlinks. They are work of chaos! Chaos I say! Or even more probably one of Cegorach's damned tricks.

Epic...

Drejk, you have more patience than I do... But also the same love of reading random things as well.

I got stuck for 6 or 8 Hours between the LotR, SoI&F, & Pathfinder Wikis.

Or, if it won't bother the other players, make your android a Court Bard; make it look like a fascimile of a Tien child with blue hair, and make its debuff performances an attempt to sing to your opponents in a voice akin to songbirds in a wet metal jar.

(Though since I don't like Vocaloids, or Daleks, I wouldn't do that)

I do, however, like the idea of an android sorcerer whose spells are really just built-in sub-systems:

"Go-go Gadget Gust of Wind!"

"Go-go Gadget Scorching Ray!"

Fun for the Fun god!!!

I like Nightcore/Vocaloids just for some of the Hilarity that can occur.
