Here’s a status update from Joshua’s friend and roommate Mark Orsted:

Mark Orsted Update: Spoke with Josh a few times yesterday. They have diagnosed that he had two strokes. One about a week ago, and one yesterday morning around 6a while he slept, which was the one that partially debilitated him. He’s in good spirits, obviously dismayed that his writing skills are currently “non-existent”, but glad that he’s all good beyond that. He’ll get signed up for some therapy and hopefully be able to re-learn the skill he is missing. He is due back today, but maybe tomorrow depending on how things went overnight.

Your typing is remarkably good for just getting out of the hospital with a stroke. Let's hope the road to recovery is equally swift =)

Yeah, I rolled the bones on this one and serously came up better than it could have been. Basically the part of my brain that was affected was the section that deals with written writtuage and reading...there are some side areas I am workin on still, but I really did get lucky.

My wife's stroke affected some of those areas, too. But she is now again able to write, type and read. Too much concentration over a longer timespan may give her some bouts of dizziness (or if ignored some serious vertigo), but that's all that remained from her inability to read a magazine on the day of the stroke itself.

Things WILL get better, but you will need to train your brain again.

More "Get well soon!" wishes from Germany.

Josh, heal up man!!!!!!

Get well soon and stay healthy!

He's active on this thread.

Thanks, Geraint. I hope he continues to improve!

Ktfish, please understand that it is true what you probably heard: You can't tell how things will be until after between two and three years after the injury. In other words: You will be getting better all that time.

Sovereign Court

Just saw this.

KTFish7, I wish you the best in your recovery.
