Short Fiction epubs

Any chance of more short fiction epubs? I know... I know... I can read them online. But I'd rather read them on my Kindle. And I love having the whole story collected in one place that is easily accessible to me. So.. any chance of more epubs? Pretty please? :)

They're definitely coming! We've just had a lot to work on for the last few *mumble weeks mumble months*, and so haven't been able to get them ready. But they're high on my to-do list!

Sweet! :)

Any chance of these being made avaiable in PDF form?

Nope. Everything we publish in PDF form has already been formatted for print in a page layout program, which happens to allow it to transition nicely and relatively easily to PDF. The web fiction is never laid out that way—it's only ever formatted in HTML, which happens to allow it to transition nicely and relatively easily to ePub.

If we wanted to publish it in PDF form, we'd have two choices:
1: Have a production person spend time laying it out and then have an editor spend time proofing it; this would get us a PDF that would look good, but at the cost of several person-hours, which are precious around here (and hard to justify for a product that costs as little as these do).
2: Spend almost no additional time creating a generic PDF from the existing HTML/ePub—but it would look somewhat cheesy compared to our other PDFs, and we'd surely get complaints from people who would be disappointed that it isn't up to our usual standards.

There are apps out there that convert ePubs to PDF, and these will work just fine with our ePubs... but frankly, the ePub format is actually much better than PDF for electronic books that are mostly text (as these are), because ePub viewers usually allow users to modify the display fonts and other such niceties. If you give one a try, I think you'll be happy you did.

I agree 100%. As much as I like pdfs, ePubs are my preferred format for reading fiction. I read off a tablet during my daily walking commute.

I recently had a chance to read the first three chapters of Richard Pett's book Crooked, but it was only available as a pdf. Much as I enjoyed it, I found it... challenging. I found myself using the pinch/zoom to expand the text to fill the screen, then I had to swipe to read the bottom of the page. Not a huge deal, but that's all challenging to do when you are also walking briskly down the sidewalk!

Now that I have the ePub of the book, I will move along easily through the book, when I finish reading THe Hole Behind Midnight by Clinton S. Boomer. I just size the text appropriately for easy reading and tap the edge of the screen with my thumb to turn the page.

I hope the ePub works better for you Itchy, Crooked is now up on amazon, any reviews would not only be of great interest but helpful to people who have no idea who Boomer and I are.

It's a very interesting challenge to write so much and is definitely of great use now I'm writing a full AP of my own, which is quite daunting. Arghhhhh! It's also great that people like you have enough faith in my writing, and the other lovely folks in this kickstarter, to put hands in pockets in such tough times. Huzzah and many thanks!

Please keep us posted on your thoughts and opinions on these, I'm still awaiting a first full review like a quivering jelly.

It is. I knew that the ePub would be much easier to read, and I AM eagerly anticipating reading Crooked. It lost the (literal) coin flip when I received my email with both books. I will do my very best to write a review when I finish the book.

The only reason I brought up the 3 chapter preview was that it is the only fiction book I have tried to read in pdf format. With the Pathfinder Tales I have always gone straight to the ePub.

Wait... Richard Pett writing a full AP? That's just mean! The death toll will be catastrophic! We must bow to their wishes. We must...
