What IS studded leather, if not a lot of metal hanging on a leather coat that can be thinner then normal leather because the metal is handling defense? So, Aelryinth, reading through your tables and so on, I notice that you make use of mithral studded leather. I wouldn't have thought there was such a thing, personally. Has there been a ruling on that?

It specifically says that items not primarily made of metal (leather is certainly not primarily made of metal, studded as it may be) so it would be a homebrewed item. It's almost word-for-word stated that it wouldn't change anything, normally.

You could also sink your level 7 feat into combat panache. You make an intimidate check against the opponent. If you suceed, you add your charisma mod to your AC till the end of the encounter. In this case it would be +3. The intimidate check is also made as a move action so you could intimidate and swing in the same round. For!!!!!!

I have to say that you will run into fame problems before you run out of money if you save it up. If you play up on getting to two, you can afford a mithral bp way before you have the fame. At higher levels its irrelevant, so go with the ring and amulet and just enhance them.... I would not buy new armor or enhance it until you are buying the last piece you intend to wear. You good people have given me a lot to think about so far, thanks so much. Keep it coming! ;)
As for this mithral studded leather question--I don't think it's legal personally, and since this is a PFS character especially I need to be conservative about my rules interpretations. To be honest, I wouldn't even allow it in a home game.
Combat Panache sounds great, Equalizer!

Non-magical items are "always available", so anyone with enough money can buy mithral breastplate, regardless of fame.
For those talking about mithral studded leather, what's the point of that? Masterwork studded leather already has no AC check penalty, so why bother with mithral, even if it is legal?

no, because if you accept it's mithral, it's got a really, really high dex limit (better then leather). Which is why it's on there.
Naturally enough, if you don't have a 22 Dex, you don't need it. Just like if you don't have an 18 Dex, a Mithral BP is useless to you, except for the movement bonuses.

I constantly wonder why so many people forget that Darkleaf Cloth exists.
It was released in the Advanced Race Guide, so it's PFS legal, and does mechanically everything for leather/wood/natural armor that Mithral does for metal armor (except drop Arcane Spell Failure Chance past 5%, but since you're a Ranger, that doesn't matter), but it's also much cheaper.
