Greetings! I, too, am interested in joining Keepers of the Circle. I plan on trying out a spell caster, so that would probably put me in the Crystal Ring. I'm a Crowdforger on Kickstarter (and grabbed $35 in add-ons, although I'm not yet sure which ones I'm going to take) and this guild came highly recommended from someone in the Bay Area Pathfinder Society. I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do now (the torrent of information regarding this game, which isn't even going to be released for... years?... is truly amazing) but I'm really looking forward to this. I've been playing DDO since 2006 and I'm really hoping that Pathfinders resolves some of the inherent issues with that game. I'm now heading over to the forums...

Actually, as an afterthough, it would really be good if guild members could add guild membership and a link to the guild in a sig to every post.

Is this currently available as a forum function?

Goblin Squad Member

Not that I'm aware of, otherwise everyone would already be doing it.

I'd like to join you guys as well, you seem like the perfect match for what I intend to play as. I do want to look into joining as a member of either the Ring of Steel or the Ring of Iron, or both if it works.

I believe the procedure is to establish diplomatic relations through the Keepers forums at http://www.keepersofthecircle.proboards.com/index.cgi .

Here's the proposed charter for the Ring of Earth. Note, I didn't make this charter, it was actually Drake.

Drake: "Charter: Ring Of Earth

The ring of Earth is the true Foundation of the Circle, it is with the resources we gather that the rest of the Circle depends. We will organize mining, logging, farming and other resource gathering operations with the support of the other rings. The quality of materials we gather will directly effect the quality of goods the Ring of Iron will produce. This in turn will effect the quality of gear at the disposal of the rest of the Circle, Finlay affecting the effectiveness of the Circle to Defend out Camps and Caravans. It is also the job of the Ring of Earth to construct Walls and Structures for the Circle as needed.

Missions
Scouting - Find locations for our Harvesting Camps.
Harvesting - Gather resources to provide to the crafters and builders of the Circle. This includes Mining, Logging, Farming and other Harvesting operations.
Materials Transport - Get our resources to where the rest of the Circle needs it, be it a workshop or the construction of a settlement.
Storage - Store excess resources where it can be quickly transported at need.
Selling - Designate allotments of excess resources for sale outside the Circle to provide funds for the Circle.
Construction - Construct and manage supply for the construction of Circle Structures.

Other Rings
Crystal - Critical for defense of our Camps and Caravans.
Earth - This is us.
Gold - May create trade partners for our resources to sell excess resources and trade for resources we may be short on. May assist with fundraisers as needed to fund resource gathering expiditions.
Iron - Our main customers, we are the primary source of materials for the Ring of Iron to produce Goods for the Circle.
Light - Critical for defense of our Camps and Caravans.
Shadow - Critical for defense of our Camps and Caravans.
Steel - Critical for defense of our Camps and Caravans.
Wood - May assist in finding locations to set up camps for gathering resources, also critical for defense of our Camps and Caravans.

Ranks

Guardian - The Guardian of Earth will provide guidence for the Ring, assist in aquiring Circle resources and deisgnate responsibilities for Wardens within the Ring. The Guardian also may give special titles within the Ring. The Guardian of Earth also has all the rights and responsibilities of a Warden of Earth.

Wardens - Wardens of Earth make up the main driving force for resource gathering operations. They set up and manage official operations for the Ring and can make direct requests to other Rings for assistance with official operations. Wardens may Vote in all Ring matters.

Keepers - Keepers of Earth are primarily assistants when it comes to Offical operations but may also set up and manage personal operations and request assistance from Wardens and other Keeprs of Earth with those operations. A Keeper that has been in the Ring for sufficient time may be allowed to run an Official operation under the supervision of a Warden. If a Keeper requires assistance from other Rings for an operation they are planning they should go through a Warden. Keepers may voice opinions on all Ring matters and may recieve a Vote on some Ring matters.

Initiates* - Initiates may participate in Official operations and personal operations as they wish. They may request assistance from Keepers and Wardens for personal operations. Initiates may voice thier opinions on most Ring matters. They do not recieve a Vote on any Ring matters.

*Initiate is not a true Rank within the Ring of Earth but more of a level of participation within the Ring. An Initiate is any member of the Keepers of the Circle that expresses interest in the Ring of Earth but is not a Keeper or higher ranked member of the Ring. Even the Sentinal can be concidered an Initiate in the Ring of Earth when not acting in an official Sentinal capacity. As a matter of respect they should be refered to by their rank within thier primary Ring.

Membership in other Rings

You may be a Keeper in any Rings you wish, it is highly recommended to also become a Keeper of Steal or Crystal for defense. Due to our close relationship with the Ring of Iron many members of the Ring of Earth will likely be members of the Ring of Iron.

Personal vs. Circle Business

Personal Business as it relates to the Ring of Earth is defined as gathering of resources for personal use where the end products do not go to members of the Circle but are instead used for Personal Profit.
Circle Business as it relates to the Ring of Earth is defined as gathering of resources for Circle use, or for personal use where the end products go to members of the Circle or are Sold and at least 50% of the Profit is given to the Circle.

Personal vs. Circle Resources

Personal Resources are resources you acquired using your own funds or skill, or your share of resources acquired during a Circle operation.
Circle Resources are resources acquired from the Circle's pool of resources and may include the services of other Keepers of the Circle.

Operations and Camps

Gathering large amounts of resources will require building camps and running the harvesting operation out of the camp. This is expected to require multiple people over the course of multiple days. These will usually be Circle operations, but we may occasionally work with other organizations. Full Details are yet to be worked out, in part because we do not know enough about how Harvesting camps will work.

Members of the Ring of Earth may run personal harvesting operations, but they must be run using personal resources. If you use Circle resources you should donate a portion of the harvest to the Circle as compensation. The amount of the harvest you should give to the circle depends on the amount of Circle resources you used. Most of the time, this will need to be a personal judgment on your part, but in some situations the Circle may need a minimum amount of compensation.

Comments and Suggestions are Encouraged

Note of Credit - Much of the formatting is based on Gintigael Gemweaver's Ring of Iron Charter post, which in turn is based on the rings of Steel and Light Charters.

In keeping with the non-aggressive nature of the circle it seems to me gold and earth should be the key rings the others "revolve" (see what I did there? :D ) around.

Goblin Squad Member

All of our Rings revolve around eachother. We may be non-aggressive, but we are not helpless. The key is that no Ring is more important than another, but are stronger when all work together.

Dark Archive

One of our most important aspects to consider in the charter is the idea that every ring is interlinked with each of the other rings, becoming co-dependent on the efforts and sustained works or each other to work towards the common goals of the entire circle.

Charter: RING OF IRON (subject to change as we know more about the crafting system of the game and gain more members)

The Ring of Iron is devotion to craft. Art and functionality created to make a whole. It is necessary to create and keep a network of knowledgeable craftsmen within the Keepers of the Ring. The Ring of Iron’s duty to seek and share knowledge of the crafted item, help with the finding and acquiring of raw materials, help with the transport and selling of finished products, the storage of raw and finished goods, but most of all the construction of immaculate crafts.

Hierarchy
The Ring of Iron must be a loose base of craftsmen all working to better themselves and the Keepers. Therefore only a loose hierarchy will be put in place. The Guardian of Iron may be known as the Quartermaster, and he/she will control the flow of goods between the Rings as people need them. Underneath may be an Assistant Quartermaster to assist as the Quartermaster needs. As the Ring expands there may be created Guilds devoted to specific crafts. A Weaponsmith Guild or a Jeweler’s Guild are examples of those that may be created as the Keepers of the Ring need.

Other Rings
Crystal - May be asked to help with research into finding new and better items to craft, and to enchant certain items of power. They will also be integral in the protection of caravans.
Earth - They are integral in gaining raw materials to create our crafts, and the construction of our warehouses and workshops.
Gold - Our diplomats and merchants will be the face that will explain the worthiness of our goods.
Iron - Thats us.
Light - May be asked to help enchant certain items of power. They will also be integral in the protection of caravans.
Shadow - May be asked to find rare items. They will be integral in the protection of caravans.
Steel - They will be integral in the protection of caravans.
Wood - May be asked to find certain raw materials. Will be integral in the finding of safe caravan paths and the protection of said caravans.

Religion
The Keepers of the Ring of Iron are not inherently a pious people. Abadar of the Coin is generally known to answer their prayers, as does Shelyn the Beauty. Other gods are whispered prayers as certain things happen. Desna when on caravan, Erastil when trading, Gozreh when traveling by sea, Iomedae when seeking recompense for monetary slights, Besmara when warding against piracy, Hanspur when traveling by river.

Missions
Crafting - The most important aspect of the Ring of Iron. The crafting of high quality goods.
Information Gathering - In concert with the Rings of Gold, Crystal and Shadow, the Keepers of the Ring of Iron are expected to find recipes for new and better items. Also sharing found information with others in the Ring of Iron.
Raw material gathering - In concert with the Rings of Earth and Wood, the Keepers of Iron are expected to gather raw materials when needed.
Storage - In concert with the Ring of Earth, the Keepers of Iron are expected to find a place to store both raw materials and finished products until sale when needed.
Selling - In concert with the Ring of Gold, the Keepers of Iron are expected to find a market to sell their items and acquire the best price when needed.

Other Information
Keepers of Iron are urged, but not expected, to train under either the Rings of Steel, Light, Shadow, Crystal, or Wood for protection.

Keepers of Iron are expected to make and keep their own contracts, only overseen by the Quartermaster if necessary. There will be no dues payed to the Ring of Iron, but there may be charges for use of Ring-owned workshops. Donations to the coffers of the Ring are always appreciated and will go to successful transport of goods or acquisition of special items for Ring members.

Is this currently available as a forum function?

While this is not a forum function at Paizo, you can add it to your Profile information. That way anyone clicking on your avatar can see the link. Mine, for instance, has the link in the Homepage URL field. I'll be updating it in a bit with links to our Chancery since Circle diplomatic efforts are a primary interest for me.

OK, good plan.

Hey all. Friend of mine is in this guild and pointed me here when i said i was looking for one to join. I like the idea of how the structure of the rings for guild interactions. would be going circle of crystal as primary, and probaly earth and iron. I have headed over to the boards on your guild site.

Good deal, that's pretty much where you can meet everyone and see what's going on, welcome btw! :)

Greetings Malingor, Hail and well met.

Goblin Squad Member

Welcome aboard Maligor. I haven't seen a hello post from you yet on the board (although I am getting old and my eyesight isn't what it was so if I missed it apologies) so I'll say hi here. Especially good to see another Crystal member as we are still fairly thin on the ground. Let's zap those bad guys!

Greetings to all those who have joined and managed to slip past my notice. Sneaky people :). Excited to have you with us, and as always can't wait for things to get rolling.

Greetings and Salutations!

I would be honoured to join your circles of Wood and Shadow as I step into this world that is Golarion!
My lady will almost certainly be joining me within your circles. We are faithful guardians of flora, fauna and freedom and love playing characters that epitomize Neutral Goodness.

Despite this very early hour I still feel like a latecomer! Tragically, I missed the Kickstarter, so if anyone knows of any open windows by which I could make a late contribution I would be delighted to trade cash for benefits!
For now I have registered an account on your site and look forward to contributing in any way I am able from here forward!

Don't feel bad about missing the KS. I had no money when the KS ended, 2 weeks later I finally got paid, but it was too late. Lisa Stevens said that they would allow those like us the chance to get into EE and that once they got the KS settled they would post a page with info on how people like us can pledge. Hopefully we will get some information on that fairly soon.

The Circle will be glad to have you. Mostly they are gathering at the pro boards link, so head over there and create an account and introduce yourself :)

Shantallas at your service, cleric of Sarenrae or a Sorcerer at your service. just applied on you forums.

Interested in the Ring of Light and or Crystal, be it healing some skulls or confusing our enemies. Glad to be here!

Welcome Shantallas, Pleased to see more spiritual Charter Members!

Welcome Elken Krimm & Shantallas. And to counteract Carbon's recommendation, can I suggest that the Ring of Crystal would be a good spot for your main. It will be the cool place to hang out :)

Welcome Shantallas!! Since we have Destiny's Twin, you can certain be both!

Welcome to all new members. Hale brothers and sisters, well met.

How do you accept members who are members of other chartered organizations? Which organizations? Only allies or others also? What if the alliance changes? I have no interest in being in charge of anything, just craft my magic.

Lam just go to the pro-boards link create an account and ask there.

The keepers is likely to end up a Settlement rather than a CC :D

Make it clear you are only inquiring if you are unsure about signing up.

Goblin Squad Member

Neadenil is certainly right! You should just come on over to the proboards and introduce yourself. As more information about the game come out we will have to look at things again and again, so we can't necessarily answer your questions now. But it sounds like it absolutely could work.

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings to the redoubtable Keepers of the Circle,

I'm going to reach out to you guys with a consideration: Crowdforging: A Confederation of Communities

I'd be most grateful if Keepers-of-the-Circle could have a look through this early draft and have a think about it's possible merits and where it might align with your goals and aspirations.

Please feel free to post in that thread, at any time, if you feel there is something serious to consider here.

Respectfully, AO.

=

Specifically, I'm interested in how many you have in your current membership, noticing you scored at least 36 on the "Land Rush!" poll. I've noticed your Guild is "active" with it's own boards. Are any of you currently active in other games, also? How many do you estimate you'll have for EE start?

Goblin Squad Member

Hi AvenaOats, I will await senior members to respond formally to your query but having read your original post and the replies, this would seem to have some merit. I will comment in there too. Feel free to post on the Keepers forum about this as well if you wish.

Lam, I would see our settlement being open and welcoming to those of a similar (Good/Neutral) alignments. Individual alliances and relationships are the province of those who specialise in managing our diplomacy, I'm just a foot-soldier (foot-mage?).

Goblin Squad Member

Since you mentioned diplomacy, what is our present situation here in the Circle with other large guilds such as The Seventh Veil and The Empyrian Order. Any playful contention? And is there a sizable Evil guild out there we should be watching as an inevitable foe? Or is it too early for such politics?

Goblin Squad Member

I know we've touched bases with several of the guilds. Our main diplomat did quite a bit of work to at least post on all the other guild boards here. I know we have several guilds (PAX, TEO, Seventh Veil, and several others) who have posted on our diplomacy board on our proboards page. I believe right now its merely a "greetings" stage until more information comes out on the game itself.

Goblin Squad Member

Indeed if you go way, way back to some of the posts on the first page of this thread there are greetings from diplomats from some of the other larger groups. I suspect that we will all start off on good terms but maybe resource contention and demands of expansion will lead to a certain tension even between some of the Good-aligned groups. It will be interesting to see how these things pan out, particularly with the recent concerns about "zerg" guilds arriving on PFO.

Goblin Squad Member

If you guys haven't already check out this topic.

I'm very interested to hear a bit more about the people leading KotC as I'm sure the community is as well.

Goblin Squad Member

Elken Krimm wrote:

At the moment, I am willing to state that as a fellow Good-Aligned organization, TEO is hoping for more cooperative relationships with the Keepers and less so the contention. We fully support the style of organization the Keepers of the Circle has presented thus far.

I have considered poking in and being a little more active upon your forums in my role of diplomat as well as just getting to know folks a little better, but I did not wish to be rude and add confusion by making a bunch of non-member posts.

Goblin Squad Member

Lifedragn you are more than welcome to join in the general conversations! I would just ask that you always sign at the bottom of your posts that you are one of the ambassador's from TEO. The better our diplomats get to know each other in the year or so we have sitting around the easier it will be to avoid those minor contentions all together.

We are currently of a decent size, but not large enough to be considered one of the "zerg" built groups. We will defend out rights to resources, but we aren't going to be going about taking them from others. We won't be the aggressors, but I think it is safe to say we don't want to be pushovers either.
