Though, if you're a powerful enough wizard to summon a succubus, remember to be courteous. Just because she's a demon doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a casting of Waves of Ecstacy before she goes on her way.

Might prefer Dominate Monster....

Careful who you summon, the write up for her and the incubus do say they like to dominate you.

Granted, but I'm sure the Cleric or Paladin may help out with clearing your head afterwards. And possibly providing a discrete Remove Disease? What adventurers do in their downtime is their eon business, but when you get too distracted with the scratching down there to contribute to the group, something needs to be done.

This thread lends new meaning to Shocking Grasp.

Which the Succubus, being a Demon subtype, is immune to, even with Spell Resistance.

For the proper romantic ambiance, don't forget that her SR doesn't impede casting Fog Cloud. Useful for keeping the Paladin from getting all awkward about vows and trying to "rescue" you.

Bear in mind the paladin's code is an individual thing, and is not explicitly spelled out as preventing him from having a little fun. If your DM didn't specifically restrict you from it, then there's nothing preventing a little cross-religion contact.

Wonder how safe you'd be starting a grapple at her tail? Surely she can't initiate much of an "act of passion" like that...

OR COULD SHE?

I'd give you a description, but neither you nor your god would want to hear it probably.

Paladin: Nigh' omnipotent being who is above us and sees all. I know you can't look away or close your eyes, but I'm going to need you to try really hard for the next five, maybe ten minutes...

Of course the paladin can do it, it is not for fun though but to redeem a poor lady making her taste holiness.

I think we all know that "kiss" bit was added to keep things all OK with the kiddies. We know what succubi REALLY do with their victims.

Also, they don't level drain, they drain 1d4 Intelligence. When Intelligence reaches 2, their victims' souls are drawn out and they are irrevocably transformed into goats. Soulless goats.

OK it isn't canon but it works.

Goats? Why goats? Why not Cows? Do I want to know?

The 2d6 Cha Drain (no Save!!!) from the removal of Profane Gift is nasty, but dont forget the at will Vamiric touch for 6d6 per attack.

Succubai will drain you dry!

Sure, why not? Or rabbits. Any animal known to be very virile and/or prolific will do.

It's all about symbolism, baby.

Now I'm picturing a drunk succubus sitting in an Abyssal bar repeating her version of the "Scotsman 'But one goat!'" joke.

But, in DMDM's thread on what to use planar binding for, he said summoning a succubus is a big no no, and suggested getting a girlfriend instead. What are the consequences of that policy?

Where the heck is AD and his flexible druid?

I have a shapeshifting psion and her psicrystal (which also shapeshifts). The psicrystal is immune to level drain but is just kinky (and that's cannon). A fun fact about psionic shapeshifting is metamorphosis doesn't require you to pick a common form so your imagination is the limits. You can even turn into objects...animated! :P

I remember the shifter epic prestige class in DnD did that too as you went up in levels you could shift into plants, rocks, abominations whatever you wanted without using spells, fun class.

Out of curiosity is there any items around that protect a player from level drain and negative energy? (I ask as I'm getting ready for work and don't have time to go through my books.

Yeah there is. Death ward (cleric/paladin spell) not only makes you totally immune to all negative energy and energy drain effects, it provides a +4 on saves vs death effects, and lasts 10 min / level to boot (which means more than 1 hour at the level a cleric gets it).

You know what they say about grappling a succubus.

Always gotta' bring protection.

Amazing thread is amazing.

Gotta say, I'm curious about those who would assist the Bear Druid break free from this scenario. And who, in fact, would be the most successful to do so?

A bard perhaps? His rapier skills are formidable, flexible and speedy to be sure. Yet the weapon itself is skinny and leaves much to be desired.

Perhaps the barbarian? His great sword cleaves much meat with but a single swing. Though his style is very rash and quite prone to accident.

I suppose it would depend entirely on the succubus' defenses, but we can't be sure without running some tests.

And now I'm wondering how Fatboy Slim and Christopher Walken fit into this whole thing... which is actually kind of disturbing.

So... just to be clear, if you plan to grapple a succubus, you want a death ward cast upon your person, leather armor... possibly studded leather... made from goats, and maybe a freedom of movement as a backup?

Thanks but I'm looking for an item rather than a spell, I'll have a hunt when u get home on Friday.

I think he just meant an item with that spell.

However: Scarab of Protection will absorb up to 12 levels, and the Deathless armor special quality grants a 25% chance to negate each negative level. Black Soul Shard can save you from one negative level, as would white Shoanti war paint, and I'm not really sure how a pale orange rhomboid would function in such a situation.

A ring of continuation+the deathward spell would function well, and the staff of souls could provide the spell for a non-caster.

That was all I could find, though it's hardly comprehensive.

The problem with all those items is that you have to wear them. Doesn't do much for a bear druid.

MrSin wrote:

Would the Scarab, War Pain, or Ioun Stone be absorbed?

EDIT: Also, as I said: not a comprehensive list. Also, I didn't see anything saying he was seeking stuff for the bear in general.

So, I recently was running a game, in which I had a succubus to play around with, and one of the characters ran up and grappled her.

On her turn I stated. Okay, we are grappled. We both have the grappled condition, with you being the grappler, so I um. Level drain you.

As it states, a succubus must be in a grapple to perform her Kiss / drain. Am I in the wrong for level draining the grappler who had me held up?

The question I have is, was this succubus in her natural demonic form, or was she taking the form of some hot piece of tail? A succubus should be trying to lure the party into giving her a kiss on their own, without even having to resort to combat.

In the Council of Thieves, we almost had a TPK because of a succubus...

It's 1 minute per level, and it's been that duration since 3.5. I used to get it confused too due to its sister in spell level as well as in negating huge amounts of things, freedom of movement, which has the 10 minute per level duration.
