I got two laughs out of this. One because it was funny, and one because by pure circumstance I was watching Red Sonja with Arnold as Conan this morning while getting ready for work.

IMDB lists Arnold as playing "Kalidor" in that movie, though dang if I can remember anyone using the character's name the whole time.

They might as well have just called him Konann and been done with it, if they wanted to avoid copyright or trademark issues.

And I'll just leave two entirely appropriate Jayne quotes here:

Don't forget,

Which is also entirely applicable to this thread.

Over 150 posts detailing and debating the issue of a "succubus in a grapple."

This must be a highly contested subject that contains many unclearly worded rules and debatable clauses, not to mention being an issue that clearly needs much attention and serious discussion.

Mm, I'd forgotten about that, but I do believe you're right.

On another note Lamontius, exactly how proud are you of shepherding this thread past the 150 mark?

No no no no no
The paladin thread is that way.

Oh! Did I stumble into the wrong thread, Lamontius?

*reads all 4 pages*

I'll be going back to the Paladin thread now. There was just too much suggestive material in this thread for me to be able to bare it.

Well the paladin thread does contain relevant information to this thread in the form of the question of if the paladin can lay hands on the succubus during a grapple. My thought is that he can lay hands all over her in a grapple

Edit: Will he lose his paladin status for laying hands on a succubus and if so will he need to atone by being punished for being a naughty naughty boy.

That comment gets you inside the velvet rope.

And yeah, PatientWolf, I think the issue of just basically "Can a paladin just get buck wild?" specifically with the issue of Lay on Hands is going to need to be incorporated.

My Cleric has both Touch of Law and Touch of Good and the amount of touching I do on my group is just ridiculous.

Solution: Lay on Hands, then use Smite Evil. This gets you the best of both worlds. Certain deities may object to this, so bear that in mind.

One can only imagine the atonement process for such a breach of the Paladin code. Fortunately most Paladins come to their sense before committing any such act.

Hmmm...smite evil on the succubus. Bare handed, paddle or flogger?

Now that you mention it...almost all clerics get a touch of some form or fashion. Which could be used as evidence that the deities do condone touching and laying on of hands. In addition, the Paladin code does not specifically disallow non-combat encounters.

So the question falls to this: Is grappling a succubus an evil or dishonorable act?

Wouldn't Laying Hands on a Succubus count as intentionally engaging in an "act of passion" with an evil outsider and cause a paladin to fall?

Well some fundamentalists might argue that it is only evil if you enjoy it but I think grappling was created for our pleasure.

I would argue that smiting evil with an unarmed strike on a Succubus would also be considered engaging in an act of passion. Would that also cause the paladin to fall. Sounds like Succubi are a paladins worst nightmare.

From a realistic standpoint, it is an evil act. A succubus is a creature of vile and disgusting evil who exists to tempt and corrupt mortals. As such, the Paladinly thing to do would be to smite it before it can fire off a spell.

However, it is quite obvious that 4 pages of material could not be produced from that viewpoint.

And as for grappling being created for our pleasure...you've never tried to understand the grapple rules have you?

Again I think that smiting evil against said succubus would be considered an act of passion in some circles (of course the two of you should have a safe word worked out before hand).

As for not understanding the grappling rules we have been begging for detailed illustrations for four pages now!

The druid starts the grapple,
The Druid's now in pain
for once you grapple Succubi
You're hit with level Drain.

This was a lot more fun before the grappler became a paladin.
Where the heck is AD and his flexible druid?

yes still waiting for the illustrations of the druid and the succubus grappling :P

Ugh, I dated a girl like that in High School. Trust me, it's not worth it.

The higher her charisma, the more it hurts when she smites you.

Let's see.... "flexible female druid" on the one hand (presumably hot, mine certainly is). "hot female paladin" on the other.

I think I'm going with the flexible female druid grappling the succubus. Definitely going with the druid.

PatientWolf wrote:

That seems to be an oxymoron. The warrior who goes into battle with the darkest creatures of the cosmos seems to be more like a grizzled veteran than a young, attractive, scantily clad woman.

But then again, Pathfinder + Reality = ?

Why HAS no one FAQ'ed this yet? I need to hear from the designer his vision(s) of a bare flexible female druid grappling a succubus. And then I would like said designer to consign the artwork immediately.

FAQ nothing, I think this topic could use a whole source book. Ultimate Grappling. A splatbook, if you will.

Maybe this topic should be a *ahem* sticky?

@AD - No pics needed but it would help :)

The PRD wrote:
Although both creatures have the grappled condition, you can, as the creature that initiated the grapple, release the grapple as a free action, removing the condition from both you and the target.

So, since the character was the one that initiated the grapple, when the succubus attempted the energy drain he could have said "I break the grapple." Free action. No harm, no foul.

But he didn't, did he? No.

Monk deserved everything he got. Probably enjoyed it, too.

As long as the flavor and mechanics are well-written, pictures aren't needed to imagine the described manuvers.

I think this is one case where I could accept some very restrictive fluff.

Free action, yeah, but it has to be your turn. So on her turn, the Succubus initiates the Energy Drain, which adds the suggestion component, which makes you not want to use your free action.

The whole succubus power set is just stacked. Against you.

You know what amazes me? This thread has been in the Rules Forum for nearly 200 posts without getting booted to general discussion or locked for inappropriate content. Good job to everyone involved on keeping this mildly on topic and just clean enough to avoid censorship. Sure there were busty succubi, statuesque female paladins, bi-sexual naked druid she-bears, tentacle porn, and mutations, but we kept it....... I'm not sure that's even PG-13, but we kept it real, and that's what counts.

I'm not sure I should have read this thread straight after the one debating if paladins need to touch themselves....

'It's my power and I'll Lay On Hands as fast as I like!'

I think we need to recreate this scenario. Someone go get a couple bare female druid, a couple of succubi. I'll get the inflatable pools and video cameras set up so we can analyze it after we're finished watching them. You know, for the play by play, make sure we didn't miss anything.

I'll bring the beer :P

So, to come back to the topic of a hot female paladin alongside the bare bear-shifted flexible druid and her suckubus... succubus grappling toy, would it be safe for the paladin to Lay her bare Hands on the druid to let her feel some of her manyfold mercies?

Point of order sir!

At no point is it either confirmed or denied that the Succubi were busty, the Paladin was/were statuesque, nor do we know the actual sexuality or lack thereof of the naked druid.

Until these statements can be definitively confirmed or denied, this thread must not be locked!!!

So now we have the hot female paladin laying hands on the druid as she grapples the succubus as the succubus sucks her levels.

Can the hot female paladin use aid another to assist the flexible bare druid? What if they are flanking the grappled succubus?

I think it's worth pointing out that both Paladins and the Blight Druid archetype get immunity to disease.

I mean, there's spells for that, but they say grappling's better without defensive buffs.
