Items that give players feats...

Scarab Sages

Just wondering if there are any items that give players a feat... also can a player make an item that awards players a feat?

There are many items that duplicate the effect of a feat, but I don't know of any that give the player a chance to take an extra feat.

That would be a pretty nice item. I believe that would fall under the custom magic item rules though.

Within the rules there are a few... Keen weapon is improved crit... Making 1 is subject to gm approval (andpricing)

Okay... I guess what items give players feats.

Secondly can a character create an item to simulate a feat?

The specific feat I would like to get is combat reflexes... but if a generic magic item could be made to similuate a single feat in PFRPG that would be cool.

There is no "standard item" in the core rulebooks I know of that grants ANY feat. There are some that duplicate the effects of a feat, which isn't the same thing. The "keen weapon" item duplicates the effect of the "improved critical" feat, but having a keen weapon will not allow you to choose additional feats which may have "improved critical" as a pre-requisite.

So what you seem to be asking for is an item that actually grants the feat itself and reading between the lines of your post, it would appear that you want that item precisely so that you can choose feats which would use the item-granted feat as a pre-requisite.

That's purely a GM question. There are no rules to allow it in the core. It's between you and your GM.

Pretty much. RAW, there are no items that actually grant feats (well...there is an Ioun Stone with Alertness as a feat, and there are rules to construct items like that, but Ioun Stones have different crafting rules; those can be easily destroyed, nor is that what you're looking for), and RAW, there is no guidelines for constructing an item that actually has a feat.

There may be items like this back in 3.X, but Pathfinder is technically its own game, independant of the D&D franchise, meaning 3.X doesn't really apply. However, if it's a home game, and you have access to 3.X books/content, it's something you can propose to your GM. But RAW, you're out of luck.

In 3.5 you could make items that granted you feats.

I realise in PF players get to take feats more regularly...

So to get feats (kinda like perma stat bonus... you get it while it is being worn) in items it would be a homebrew condition in a PFRPG game?

Dark Archive

Yep.

You could, theoretically and with your DM's okay, create an item that duplicates the effect of Combat Reflexes. But you wouldn't actually get the Combat Reflexes feat... well, unless your DM specifically says you do. But this whole conversation is the realm of house rules/homebrew.
