Alchemist Bombs

Rules Questions

Running into some rules disputes regarding the basic Alchemist bombs granted at first level. When hit with either a direct hit or splash from a bomb, does the subject catch fire and follow those subsequent rules, or does the Alchemist require a special discovery at later levels in order to accomplish this?

Bombs don't catch things on fire like an alchemist's fire does.

bombs only follow the bomb rules, which do not say anything about catching on fire.

alchemist fire is not a bomb, bombs are not alchemist fire.

The Explosive Bomb discovery will set the target on fire if you hit it in addition to increasing the radius of the splash to ten feet. My first pick for discoveries.

Nope, no "Catching Fire" for you! It does what it says it does and nothing more.

Unless you get more discoveries.
