Rise of the RuneLords : AP Adaption of Burnt Offerings: Thistletop for PFS

Hi,

Ive decided to try to run Burnt Offerings : Thistletop at some point early next year and decided to create a thread to see If I could get some guidance about that before I start.

Is anyone else looking at running this and if so , how are you planning on turning into into something more fitting to PFS?

Can we wheel out Drendle Dreng as out giver of quest?

Spoiler:
Sheila Heidmarch would be a better choice. She has been known to go to Sandpoint and is used as a hook in the Beginner box bash demos. Osprey is always good too as he travels a lot. Since it's Goblin tribes working together, it could be Grandmaster Torch sending out pathfinders to avoid a link back to rogue shadow lodge.

I think Sheila Heidmarch is a good choice. When I ran Godsmouth Heresy I used her as VC.

Spoiler::
The Sczarni have a presence in the town, so Guaril could have been contacted about hiring some muscle to clear the goblins out for the town.

Thanks for the tips so far.

Now im going to get the nitty Gritty.

The C area (ie the area in the thistle maze are on average CR 1 encounters) which for a party of 3-5 level characters is obviously not going to be a challenge. The Bunyip possibly may be a challenge. )

How would anyone rectify this?

Make sure you apply the squeezing condition. The little monsters are a lot harder to handle when you're hunched over to avoid getting slashed by thorns.

Is that enough? Do we have any wriggle room on the encounters? Ie giving the Goblins levels.

It depends on which mode you're using.

Using Dragnmoon's nomenclature: "Campaign Mode" is running a normal Rise of the Runelords campaign, and giing the Chronicle sheets to players so they can apply them to outside, PFS-legal, characters. Under those circumstances, you can make whatever alterations you see fit to make as the home campaign's GM.

Under "Module Mode", you play just the discrete Thistletop encounters, as a PFS-legal module for PFS PCs, who apply the Chronicles directly. In this mode, you don't change anything at all. No class levels for goblins, no new threats. A party of 5th-level characters will walk through some of the maze encounters.

I was looking at Module mode. Thanks again for the assistance.

I know this topic has come up on the main sanctioned AP thread, but I'm more comfortable talking about it in a GM discussion thread:

Is there any chance of getting the spoilerific description of the Sihedron Medallion on the chronicle sheet for Burnt Offerings replaced with one that reveals a little less information? The same item appears on the chronicle sheet for

Spoiler:
The Godsmouth Heresy
with a description that doesn't give anything away.

The Shadow Lodge over in Sydney have put up some nice thematic introductions for the APs.

Just take a look through their events.
