I'm working on a reward for the group that is a +1 Longsword that is able to cast Sleep once per day while in a proficient user's hands, using their Charisma modifier to determine the DC. I'm not really worried about the proficient user's hands (though I believe that is a 10% reduction in the cost of the Sleep 1/day part of the weapon), or the Charisma modifier to the DC, but how do I figure out the pricing of adding sleep to the weapon?

I looked in the back of the Pathfinder book, but found the comment about Base Price Adjustment Divide by (5 divided by charges per day) to be less than helpful to my understanding. Maybe I need to be looking in a different section, but I couldn't figure that out.

Thanks much and happy gaming.

It would be a Command Word to activate so:
Spell level x caster level x 1,800 gp

Sleep = 1st lvl * CL= 1st lvl * 1800 gp

So, 1*1*1800gp = 1800gp

The 2nd part assumes there's 5 charges a day. Your item has 3 charges so you divide 5 by 3 = 1.66666666666666666666667

That's the number that you divide the 1800gp from.

So, 1800/1.6666666666666666666666666667 = 1079.999999999

Round up to 1080 gp.

Add this to the cost of a +1 longsword (2315gp)

= 3395 gp.

Thank you very much Tanis. I see how that all goes together and comprehend how to price the item.

Thanks again and happy gaming.

Umm it's once per day, not 3 times so you should divide 1800 by 5 for 360 on top of the +1 longsword cost.

m'bad. Misread it, i guess i'm too used to 3/day items.

Ya, I saw that and corrected it on the price. You know the old saying about giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish.

Another question that would have had a similar post title.

I'm looking through my book and can't seem to find where they address how much ammunition you get for how much money in Pathfinder. I know that in 3.X you got 50 pieces, but I just can't seem to find any point of reference for it in locations that I am looking in the book. If someone is able to point me to a page location for that, I bet I would learn it pretty well that way.

Thanks again and happy gaming.

I personally prefer:

"Build a man a fire and he'll be warm all night, but set that man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."

Terry Prattchet dixit ;-)

Lantern Lodge

Give a PC a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a PC to to fish and he will turn up to the next session with a copy of 'Complete Fisherman' and be dual wielding flyrods. :p

And here I was looking 1 page over and wondering why it wasn't there. Should of broken my real book out and not been using the PDF, would have probably noticed another chart that addressed the question.

Thanks much and happy gaming.

A lot of my gaming group used to play Living City and other RPGA events before 4th Edition. A number of us, myself including, loved the certs that Living City gave out because it gave you a physical representation of the item that you were holding. Certainly the flimsy piece of paper wasn't much, but it did provide some sort of substance to your make believe item.

For most of the time that 3rd edition has been going I have done certs for our home game items and include on them the gp price. So before I printed my cert out, I wanted to have that information so I could put it down on the item.

Happy gaming.

For some reason, there is something gratifying about having a binder full of certs. It feels like you've accomplished more with your life...

Wouldn't you also add 50% to the cost for "additional enchantments"? Armor does for bonuses to skills, like stealth.
