Speaking of which is there any good evil guilds out there? I mean proper cultist and chaotic evil! None of this neutral bandit crap... No offence Bluddwolf.... You damned weak livered milk drinker....

Goblin Squad Member

Oh look at this, lets dust it off and put it on the top shelf.

There are two non-recruitment threads in particular that seem to have proven useful enough to the community to warrant being kept alive. I'm extremely gratified that people appreciate what I've tried to do with this one. I'm also surprised and pleased and just a little embarrassed about how evergreen So, how many times have YOU clicked refresh on goblinworks.com / blog? has proven; it was started back in January of 2012 and still gets updated pretty much every time there's a blog due out.

Updated except for this past Wednesday where everyone took a moment of silence to again mourn the passing of the weekly blog...

If anyone has suggestions on how to organize these lists to be more useful to new players or for additional posts to include, please feel free to post them here or in the thread with the recommended posts, or simply PM me. I realize that some of the lists are starting to get quite long.

Goblin Squad Member

I've reorganized the Nihimonicon to try to make it a little less cluttered and a little easier to understand where to find the information you're looking for. Any feedback will be welcome.

Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links (aka Nihimonicon)

Ask and ye shall receive seems to be the theme of the moment :)

Goblin Squad Member

Thought it might be time to bring this to the top again, as we've heard some new voices.

Goblin Squad Member

up

Goblin Squad Member

Keeping the greetings visible.

Goblin Squad Member

Bringing to the top again for new folks.

Goblin Squad Member

I've also made some improvements. The front-page now has links to the sub-lists directly in the descriptions of the list categories.

As always, please feel free to make any recommendations.

Goblin Squad Member

More new faces, time to bring this up for them.

Goblin Squad Member

More new faces, more need for the Nihimonicon.

Goblin Squad Member

Back to the top with you. New people need all the nifty linkage.

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the new posters and point you to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list. I hope you find it useful.

Giving this a gentle nudge for any new posters out there.

Goblin Squad Member

Here kitty kitty... good kitty kitty.

Er sorry. You looks so fluffy Deianira. :P

Goblin Squad Member

Needs a bump. Are you keeping track of informative dev responces to player questions by any chance? Stephens recent Q&A on crafting deserves a mention I would say...

Not nearly as well as I should be...

I haven't been paying quite as much attention as I used to. I find myself frequently skimming threads and ignoring a lot of posts.

If you or anyone else would like to post links in this thread, or PM me, I'll be happy to check them out. The whole list is really meant to be a community resource. Thanks for the pointer :)

You are not the only one. The level of toxicity on any PVP, Alignment and Reputation related thread is really disheartening. I am just skimming all threads for now, and I saved on my Kindle a separate bookmark for each dev posts to make sure that I don't miss anything important.

I'll note any interesting dev mini blogs or quotes here for evaluation. :)

When Nihimon finds himself paying less attention, I interpret that as a measure of the increasing toxicity of these boards. I'm feeling it, too, and the value to me of my investment in PFO's Kickstarters is quickly declining when I envisage trying to play a game with a couple of the personalities making so much of the (to me) painful noise here lately.

Yeah, there was a golden age on these forums not too long ago when folks were posting about how little toxicity there was. I'll always remember that time fondly. The time before all the screaming faces...

new people around, so rise!

Great reads! Thanks for all the hard work Nihimon, and everyone else!

I am relatively new to Pathfinder, but was/am a big D&D, LOTR, fantasy fan. I have been extremely excited about this game ever since I stumbled across the goblinworks website by accident!

I suppose the only frustrating thing about all of the information in the blog and in these forums is not knowing exactly what information that was previously released (even by Ryan himself) is currently obsolete/outdated. I have read a few tidbits here and there where they have indicated that an older post/idea has been re-imagined.

I would love if there was a community wiki with a consolidation of all the up-to-date info that we know regarding the game and it's mechanics; however, as I can't (as in, don't have the technical skills) start it myself, I don't feel right making anyone else do it.

Anyway, glad to meet you all, and look forward to adventuring with you in the near future!

I'd love to see a list of all the known settlements based on the Land Rush Leaderboard. I imagine that the numbers are a little out of date and some newer settlements might not be represented, so this might not be a perfect list.

The clearcut leaders on the poll:

1) The Empyrean Order: Brighthaven
2) Pax Aeternum: Callambea
3) The Seventh Veil: Phaeros
4) Keepers of the Circle: ?
5) Knights of the Crusader Road: ?
6) Les Compagnons: ?

After those 6 things get pretty close and a handful of votes could make a huge difference in the rankings. Anyone have a more complete list of settlements for the above? Or a list of other settlements?

Other settlements:

1) Golgatha
2) ?

Instead of worrying about numbers, perhaps it would be more useful to list the settlements in alphabetical order or in alignment groupings.

It might also be a good idea to list only those that have been mentioned (bumped) in the last 8 - 12 months.

Goblin Squad Member

Most of those numbers are widely inaccurate. I know there are a lot of members of T7V that are dormant at the moment that haven't voted on the Landrush Poll.

I imagine Pax, TEO, and others have similar non-votes members as of date.

Goblin Squad Member

How the Nihimonicon got buried deep on page 2, I have no idea, but--especially now--it belongs at the top!

Goblin Squad Member

I much agree, Jazzlvraz!

Goblin Squad Member

Bumpity-bumpity-BUMP!

All hail Nihimon and the amazing, selfless work he has done over the past two+ years on this resource and in the community in general!

Is there a way to request a thread be stickied? I'm feeling this thread would be a prime canidate for one.

Goblin Squad Member

I believe some have tried in the past, to no avail.

That's why I just keep bumpin' it! ;D

Bumping for visibility of the Nihimonicon.

I was thinking about this general problem earlier, and will probably make some changes to the Guild Recruitment list soon. For example, I've been reluctant in the past to remove "inactive" guild listings, but I'm starting to feel that there inclusion is causing more problems for new posters than their removal would likely cause the guilds in question.
How exactly do you define an "inactive" guild? The game isn't even in ALPHA yet. Lack of visibility on this forum certainly does not indicate that a guild is inactive. The only guilds that could fairly be considered inactive are ones that have explicitly dissolved.

That's the stance I've taken for the last 2+ years, but I worry that having a large list of guilds in the Guild Recruitment list, when a relatively small number are active on the forums, is doing a disservice to new players looking for a good fit. I won't delete any reference to them, I'll simply move them to a list of Inactive Guilds.

I'm open to any suggestions on how to define "Inactive". My plan was to simply look at all of them to get a sense of where a reasonable demarcation could be drawn.

[Edit] For reference, Broken_Sextant was responding to a post I made in another thread, which I will reproduce in full here to lessen the likelihood of anyone else discussing off-topic issues there.

I've listed this thread in Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links alongside Chartered Company: The UnNamed Company and Unsettled Alliance: Brethren of the Wild Lands. As always, let me know if you'd like me to add a short description.

That is appreciated, but a question which I think may apply to everyone involved in the Land Rush.

It has been established that in the Land Rush, the listing can be by founding company name, or by settlement name.

Settlement: Aragon is being listed by the UNC, but it will not be exclusively UNC populated or governed by.

It may be useful in you pages to list Settlements separately. Include their base alignment. Then have a description of the settlement focus.

Also, you can remove the Brethren of the Wildlands, an old idea that is not viable based on game design.

For example, I've been reluctant in the past to remove "inactive" guild listings, but I'm starting to feel that there inclusion is causing more problems for new posters than their removal would likely cause the guilds in question.

That's a good idea to create a separate list for Settlements, but I think I'll also need a list for Land Rush Participants that can either be Guilds or Settlements. Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll go ahead and remove the Brethren of the Wild Lands thread.

Good work on this Nihimon, Its an excellent source

Goblin Squad Member

Lots of new/returning faces!

Goblin Squad Member

Instead if worrying what is active and what is not, what about a couple new threads asking for

active settlement groups to post a single announcement and a

second thread asking active CC to post and speak to settlements they back (or undecided).
