What professions have the best synergy when going multiclass?

Advice

I'm considering a half elf character and I'm not sure how best to utalize the dual favorite profession while optimizing and not going MAD.

Ranger or Druid and Rogue multiclass is pretty boss, got a pally/sorc I running right now that takes a while to build steam but once you get Eldritch Knight its quite nice, fighter/rogue, inquisitor 5/ranger x or inquisitor 5/gunslinger x. Just off the top of my head.

Depending upon what you're optimizing for, a Cavalier (order of the star) + Cleric = A "Paladin" of the alignment of your choice.
Order of the star allows half your cavalier levels count as Cleric levels in order to channel.
The racial alternate for the Cav is interesting, 5 levels of Cavalier make your mount 5 feet faster. Each cleric level adds 1/3 to the power of channeling.
It's also a neat way to prestige into Holy Vindicator.
Aaaadmittedly it's MAD, depending upon your focus. If you focus on Cleric, take four or five levels of Cav to get full weapon prof, a mount (with the Horse Master feat), and the 5th if you want the extra five foot of movement. (If you go by way of Emissary you can change your morale bonus banner for a Mobility feat, considering your spells may be morale bonuses), and then cleric the rest.
Alternately, just take a single level of Cleric to get Channel and whoop-de-doo, you get a free skill point/HP.

Str/Cha is naturally in the Cav's portfolio, Wis makes things trickier.

Really, though, it's just a nice little bonus to have if you ever plan to multiclass. You don't need to design around it unless two of their racial alternate favoured abilities really sticks out at you.

Monk + Inquisitor. Buy a guided weapon(Temple sword is nice one). Then stack Wisdom for your attack rolls, damage, AC and Spell DCs.

Additionally, you will get Improved Evasion for reflex, fort and Will and you will have pretty high saves.

sorcerer+paladin into DD makes for fun times.

I like oracle-ninja. Oracles have many ways to be designed as long as they have Charisma, and so a Dex-Cha build works well.

The melee oriented classes tend to go well together since your core mechanics (BAB and Feats) stack just fine, unlike caster levels and spell selections.

Fighter-Rogue
Fighter-Barbarian
Fighter-Paladin
Fighter-Cavalier
Fighter-Ranger
Cavalier-Ranger could be nice, particularly using the Horse Master Feat
Barbarian-Ranger
Barbarian-Rogue
Ranger-Rogue

Not sure I'd mix the Paladin and Cavalier or Barbarian for different reasons.

If you wanted a melee Cleric then Fighter-Cleric.

How do you get your wisdom to damage? I have never seen away?

Guided weapon enchantment, Toture Subdomain, Marid Style, and number of others.

Cavalier and Bard, going into Battle Herald. You can basically be a bard who trades out his spells and non-combat performances for combat abilities and an alternate, combat-heavy performance system. If you take 4 levels of Cav and one of bard, the master horseman feat, and the necessary skill ranks, you're in with a fully-leveld mount and only a -1 penalty to your BAB. And if your DM allows leadership, you're better with it. If you don't want the mount, go standard bearer. You should chooser an order that benefits from charisma, since you'll probably want a 14-16.

Marid Style is only with elemental fist, and Torture Subdomain is only when using subdual damage, and guided is not in pathfinder.

Orly?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I really like my Sorceress (Fire Elemental Bloodline) and my Oracle of Flame multiclass. Both spontaneous casters, both use Cha as their casting stat, and both benefit from my Pyromaniac alternate racial trait for being a gnome. I took the Deaf curse, so now I'm able to Vanish (Sorceress spell) and then use Summon Monster to summon up to four helpers before my Vanish spell ends. No one will know where I am or what I'm up to, unless they have a different means to detect me (other than Perception), or an insane Perception (my Stealth bonus while invisible is 30 at level 5).

I also like the mix of lower levels of spellcasting together with Rogue levels. If you manage to attack your enemies without their Dex bonus, you go up against the lowest possible AC while also dealing decent amounts of damage (Touch Attack spells plus SA bonus damage).

Best,
your crazy gnome lady from next door

Ooh! That reminds me of my Aberrant Sorcerer / Bones Oracle who would end combats by casting Chill Touch and then sit back and wait for the opponent to bleed out.
