Possible incentives to get more people backing!

I think one thing to ask is if we can get the pathfinder TT people in more. I've advocated and heard others mention a pack with the miniatutes, maps, and dungeon. That seems easy enough and may get some more TT on board, especially if Erik or someone can guesstimate the value of said package. I'm saying $13 x 6 on the maps, $30 on the hardcover dungeon, and 9 miniatures maybe $30?

Or have we tapped the TT people enough? My view is I'm not terribly interested in playing the mmo at launch (or ever...just like ps3 gaming more lately), yet do love minis. With the success of pathfinders own line and how how bones was I see the miniatures as being underutilized here. Though I. The whole scheme of things offering miniatures to non crowd forgers may only net a couple thousand bucks at best :/

Single Flip-Mats will sell for $13.99. We can't really set a price for the hardcover, because we don't know how big it will be, but it's safe to say that if it ends up at 128 pages, it will cost more than an Adventure Path ($22.99 for a 96-page softcover) but less than the 256-page hardcovers we sell for $39.99. As for the minis, we currently sell the Festering Spirit promo mini for $5, so assuming there are going to be 9 of them, that would be a $45 value (and the number of minis may end up being higher than 9).

(Something we have planned for later in the week should make these values more clear on the Kickstarter page.)

Ah cool this is good info to have, I think once you guys threw in the PDFs with the books that made for a heck of a bargain for $100. I'm keeping me fingers crossed that there's a miniatures plus print package made available.

Oh, and that lava miniature is looking *amazing*. I've been critical if the miniatures line before on cost, but there's no arguing the quality!

My only concern is that all these people pledging for mini's and TT goods are in the end taking away from actual money for GW to use to increase staff, get more/better equipment, etc.

Either way it's a good things as it brings in more numbers which in turn draws more attention and makes more people want to back, but in reality what percentage of funds for all these physical goods are going to go to GW rather than Paizo?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Percentage varies based on pledge level and add-ons, and as several of the rewards aren't fixed in scope (and thus cost) until the project ends, there's literally no way to calculate it for most levels right now.

But rest assured that our goals are set with the knowledge that a certain percentage needs to be earmarked for Kickstarter/Amazon payments, and another percentage to Paizo for fulfillment of physical goods, and another percentage to cover direct costs of Goblinworks' own reward fulfillment. Which is to say that if we reach the funding goal, Goblinworks' needs will be covered by the net amount they'll get.

Has there been any word on whether the $75, $50, and $35 pledgers could be moved into the early enrollment with 1 month sub category with the stipulation that.

1: They're lined up behind all of the $100+ pledgers, who retain their order and 4 month sub as already described in the KS and
2: The lower level pledgers are lined up in price order, high to low.

The way I see it, that wouldn't require any additional development work, and would keep a flow of KS backers coming in at that 4500 per month pace they want for the beta for longer.

That would get my $35. I haven't pledged yet because I'm not willing to pay now for a game that I won't get to play for two years at the earliest.

@Warhorse - no, that would defeat the purpose of the Crowdforger levels and encourage folks to reduce their pledges. Not good for the Kickstarter.

Ah. I thought that the additional sub months and pdfs were accounting for most of that value. The crowdforger level does have to keep its prestige though. I get it.

I really do not think the higher tier levels ( art lover for example) are a necessity and a larger focus on the lower tiers , 50 to 200 range, should be the focus. But if your thinking of doing something higher then that I would suggest goblin squad investor, 15,000-20,000 maybe they get a cool in game title, a share of stock in goblin works?

$10K limit on pledges, and stock or profit sharing are explicitly prohibitted by Kickstarter rules.

was not aware of that, thanks for the info. i admittedly know very little about the kickstarter rules and regulations as i have never used it to get something backed. only ever looked at potential things i wanted to back.

I see they used my idea about the statue at the $2500 level! Pretty cool. I don't have $2500 to spend but maybe they could toss a dwarf a bone :). Cool to see these ideas are used.

What about letting later supporters buy previous Daily deals that they missed for $1 each? That way people who supported early get an advantage (free Daily Deals), but those who are late to the party have a way to catch up on what they missed.

Goblin Squad Member

If you go to the $1000 Alpha level you get them all regardless of when you pledge.

Goblin Squad Member

I like Mourn's idea - if it's logistically possible.

Or maybe a flat fee? $15 add-on to get all daily deals that you missed?

That's high enough of a price to make the people who backed early still feel like they get a good deal, but then allows later backers (including the $450,000K of backers we need to get) to not feel remorse or feel like they're unable to get the full rewards

That way it rewards everyone, and makes the earlier daily deals still more exclusive in a sense.

-------------

Or maybe make the add-on include all daily deals but the Goblin Dogslicer -- to make that an exclusive reward for the earliest backers (and make it a super exclusive fluff item)?

I'd like to see them let everyone who's getting 4 months of Early Enrollment access also get 4 months of Open Enrollment access.

@Nihimon

Are you suggesting that instead of letting a person use their 4 months of paid subscription time when they wish (either in EE or OE), to instead give them 4 months of each?

I think that could be an interesting idea. If somebody joins up on day 1, and discovers after awhile that the feature they want isn't yet implemented or that the game isn't polished enough for them to be able to enjoy it, then they know they can forgo playing for a bit and wait for Open Enrollment.

Then again, 4 months is a long time, and playing for 2 months and then saving the remaining 2 months for OE is pretty fair.

I of course vote yes for 4 extra months ;)

That is exactly what I'm suggesting :)

We would LOOOOOVE to see some creative ideas for rewards with values from $1,000 to $10,000. At those prices we can do some pretty amazing stuff. Again, we have to avoid eating up the income from the reward with production and fulfillment costs, so things that have a low "cost" but a high "value" are the sweet spots.

$1250: Alpha status and an eventual in-game option to have his or her choice of a Evil Hobgoblin, Neutral Wolf, or Good ..uh.. something as one of his or her characters.
