Clark-nak the Magnificent!

I predict the following will occur this year in the first round of Superstar:

1. someone will be over word count and will complain that we should have some automatic tool that prohibits over-word-count submissions, rather than accepting that it is their responsibility to submit a proper submission

2. someone will not advance and will have an epic flameout in the critique my item thread when they are told their special snowflake was not awesome

3. the judges wont be unanimous in liking all the 32 submitted items that advance leading people to wonder if the contestants are just worse this year (even though this happens every year)

4. Ryan will make short comments and get heat for it

5. Sean or I will be called mean for being blunt

6. This community will be totally awesome and supportive

7. we will get an amazing group of contestants

8. I will start commenting in the Critique My Item thread but will lose steam and one of the younger more energetic judges will take over commenting on all of them

9. someone will fail to understand that their perfectly executed boring item is actually not better than a flawed but interesting item, since the first round is really about us as judges selecting the contestants to compete in Superstar

10. a bunch of people will submit items having never (1) listened to the audio of our panel, (2) read Sean's consolidated advice column, and (3) read prior winning entries, leading those people to complain

There you have it! 10 bold predictions from Clark-nak the Magnificent! I also predict they will all come true! So that's 11!

Come on Clark, be brave :) - your number 8 should have been something like...

8. Clark will open the critique thread, Neil the machine will flood it for him :), allowing Clark and the other Judges to cherry pick items they want to provide more in depth reviews on.

12. No one will use "Pharasmin" as an adjective.

13. Someone will try doing a cathartic parody a la Kevin Mickelson, but it won't be as awesome. (Though I hope I'm wrong about the second part.)

15. The judges will have to put on their stern face and tell a bunch of giddy contestants to stop commenting on their entries (fingers crossed for a disqualification-free RPGSS 2013).

16. Several people will request feedback, but not have a copy of the actual item they submitted.

17. Someone will attempt to educate Paizo on how they are doing the contest all wrong, and offer suggestions on how to fix it.

18. Eric "Epic Meepo" Morton will pop up to create a Top 32 guildhall thread with a witty title (unless he is to busy churning out cool monsters).

19. By round 2, someone will suggest just skipping just skipping the rest of the contest and declare their favorite the winner.

20. Neil Spicer will produce enough words to fill a hardback rpg rulebook.

21. The RPG Superstar forum will be littered with

Hmmm, here's a suggestion for you then fella...

Neil "Astinus" Spicer of "Gilean"

I wonder how many "googles" that will produce? :P

Sorry its an old Johnny Carson reference. Carnak the Magnificent was a recurring character on Carson's Late Night show. He would make humorous predictions.

I have no doubt on #20.

Sorry in advance - maybe I'm too young (which is a novel feeling these days), but who is Johnny Carson?

(Don't worry, he is on Google, I just wanted to have a wee poke fun with Clark - poor ol' fella :P)

To Clark, I am glad I was wondering if that was the case when I first read this. I must be getting old ....

It appears this one may already be coming true. See my power!

No Googling necessary here. I'm old enough to have watched or read the references for both of those.

I suppose I'm not surprised that people would miss the Clark-nak reference, but in this crowd, I really would expect that Astinus and Gilean would be known quantities.

I think you are at least 1,6,7 and 10 already :)

No 3) may not affect Round 1 this year and I think you might only get half of 9) too :D

Someone should predict which class is going to see the most archetype love.

I suspect the Gunslinger will at least have a couple.

31 not-a-mystery Oracle archetypes and an unarmed Fighter archetype that's actually a Monk class protest and blatant play for the angry forum minion vote.
