Does this weapon (or something similar) exist in PF?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi all,

I'm trying to port a really old 2nd ed D&D campaign in PF. One of the players had a magic weapon called a Warstar of the Manticore; essentially a +1 morningstar that duplicated the manticore's tail spikes ability. Is there something similar in any of the PF published books? Or does anyone have any suggestionos on crating/pricing the item? Any help is appreciated.

There is a shield with a similar ability, I forget its name though. If you were to simply increase the price to that of a magical weapon instead of armor it should work out fine.

I'm not familiar with the original, but I can't recall coming across anything like this in PF.

I think you'll have to design and price it yourself.

How often could it shoot spikes? What kind of damage did they do? Is there a spell effect that's similar in style/effect?

Thanks for the tip, Abraham, I'll look at the shields to see if I can find it.

Haladir - it duplicated the manticore's tail spikes ability:

Spikes (Ex) With a snap of its tail, a manticore can loose a volley of four spikes as a standard action (make an attack roll for each spike). This attack has a range of 180 feet with no range increment. All targets must be within 30 feet of each other. The creature can launch only 24 spikes in any 24-hour period.

(This is of course the new description of the power, back in 2nd ed I think it was only 1d4 spikes per shot, 6 times per day. But I'd like to duplicate the current ability listed above.)

Here it is. A spined shield.
